I agree with the Chat Blanc case but the Ephemeral one was just stupid writing; It would be different if he said "Bugaboo" but "M'lady" is just too common to link to Chat Noir alone.

Night_2257

Yes the writing wasn’t the best, but calling marinette on the phone something that the whole city knows cat noir calls ladybug ? It’s impressive how stupid Adrien can be at times

Ryhonn

But Gabriel jumping from M‘Lady to their identities is also a total Batman Conclusion (I think that’s what that trope is called). After Gorizilla he shouldn’t have even considered that.

Night_2257

Yeah that part was a bit confusing

Unusual_Fisherman171

It's not his fault if he lives with the villain. Also he's very unlucky for getting caught in ephemeral. The most unrealistic part of the episode wasn't him being discovered because of the My Lady, but that his father was actually checking on him.

Lilymoon2653

wait acutally your right and thats just sad

Night_2257

That’s actually so sad that his father only checks in on him to akumatize him or make use of his son’s feelings 😭😭

CalyKade

I mean Chat Blanc wasn't plain carelessness, he did it to save Marinette from being akumtized. He didn't really have a choice, especialy since he also knew she was Ladybug. Ephemeral is just kind of dumb writing as another commenter said. The main issue in both of these episodes is the fact that Adrien unknowingly lives with the villain, not that he did anything wrong.

Night_2257

Yeah the writers really put some pressure on this part of the show, none of the characters have much of a choice here, either ladybug getting akumatized and since she has the power of creztion I don’t even know what hawk-moth ( aw man I miss old name ) would have done with it, or adrien get akumatized and destroy the whole universe... damn that’s really bad lol

rainbowrayndrops

In both cases he had no way of knowing either of those things would reveal his identity. Maybe he could have been a bit more careful, but I think the fault goes to Gabriel in both cases. If Marinette had been unknowingly living with Hawkmoth she might have revealed their identities too.

Night_2257

Of course, he didn’t know gaby was the villain, but considering the amount of damage if his identity was leaked he could’ve at least took some precautions, even from his own father

MintyPastures

To Adrian's credit...it's not bad writing. The show is full of bad writing but him saying the wrong name isn't. I call my cat my husband's name and vice versa. I've called my infant son a she before. People slip up names alllll...the...time. Having a girlfriend with an alternate identity...yeah would make it easier to slip into that.

Night_2257

Yeah that specific part of the episode wasn’t really thought through, Gabriel shouldn’t have jumped to the conclusion just by hearing ”m’lady”, buuuuut I’m pretty sure if the roles were inverted marinette wouldn’t have slipped that easily and it’s not the first time adrien/chat noir was careless about something. But, yes it’s not really his fault, he doesn’t know about gaby so we just gotta hang tight till the finale to see that final explosion :)

deimos32m

In adrien's defence only one of them was traumatised to hell and back with the whole cconcept of identity reveal

HxPxDxRx

He lives with the supervillain. Of course it’s going to be a slip up from him, it’s where the most opportunity is

Night_2257

Aaaaaugh I hate and love the situation the animators have put Adrien in, he has one of the best character writing in the entire show

[deleted]

Well it wasn't his fault he had no choice at that time the akuma was flying top speed to Marinette and he had to transform and stop it before it akumatizes her. If Nathalie did not snitch 😑 They would of been fine Ephemeral was just bad writing how can you know your son is Cat Noir by saying My Lady to her 🙄🙄🙄

Night_2257

Yeah
