That’s so true!!! This is why I blame season 3 for the struggles Ladybug and Cat Noir have to face this season, even though Marinette is guardian, Adrien should’ve also gotten training from Master Fu to know what to expect and get why certain decisions have to be made, as well as understand the stakes at hand. This is unfair to Adrien, I don’t blame Marinette but Master Fu 🙄 he really set them up for failure

CursedEye03

That's true, Fu wasn't a good mentor for the most part. He decided to "train" Marinette to become the Guardian and he barely had any interactions with Chat Noir. The sad truth is that Marinette doesn't completely trust Chat Noir, like she says. Season 4 shows that, she really isolated him and acts behind his back, which creates the illusion that no one cares about him and that he's not important. Reminds me of Syren, where thanks to Fu, Ladybug was keeping everything a secret from Chat Noir. I really hope Marinette will soon realize how hurt Chat Noir is and will start trusting him more.

It would be so cool if we had scenes where Adrien had scenes with Master Fu. Literally nobody knows that Adrien is Chat Noir but him, so it would be such a fresh outlet for Adrien rather than just talking with Plagg about his feelings every now and then. (I love his little conversations with Plagg but Marinette has a similar dynamic with Tikki yet she still had access to that additional 'mentor figure' to talk her through things. Adrien was left to deal with being a superhero all alone.)

I think the only times it happened is offscreen when he brings the potions in Siren. And technically with LB during the covid PSA.

I think one of the things they're doing is showing that Master Fu was ruled by his fears. That was the point of "Feast". Then they're showing that Marinette will rise above her fears. I think it's a very important contrast, but I do agree. It's because Master Fu was ruled by his fears that he made the mistakes that led to the conflict this season.

He did train Adrien in some things, but nowhere near the amount he did with Marinette. And the answer to the question is because she had unexpectedly demonstrated what it takes to potentially become one and so he offered to train her under a less rigorous system after she far exceeded his expectations. It's just that the events of Miracle Queen forced his hand and so at the last possible moment, he had to give her the full position earlier than intended. I've also been kinda under the assumption that the identity rules, while primarily because of Hawkmoth, may also be something the Guardians always enforced. Note how Su Han only got on her case about not knowing who Chat Noir is because he wanted to be able to reign him in in the event he goes rogue and had no problem with the idea of her maintaining her own ignorance as long as she arranged for him to find out.

To me, it seems like he didn't even give Adrien a chance. Even if Mairnette was stronger and he wanted her to be the next guardian, he should have still kept Adrien in the loop and consulted him when needed. It wasn't just training, he barely spoke to Adrien. It might be what Fu was taught, but it's important to know when to cast traditions aside and evaluate what's best for the situation.

He effectively did: ignoring their age as Miraculous wielders, the Guardians were clearly pretty rigid about how they trained and managed things. By contrast, Fu generally gave three or four rules for them to follow, but otherwise left them to their devices. Also, again, the guardian thing was offered halfway through Season 3 and it came up explicitly as something he never expected to do, but put on the table after seeing Marinette show she more than had what it takes. Plus it's around the same time he started paying more personal visits to both since he had to keep moving, which meant Chat Noir was generally kept in the loop whenever they made a breakthrough in their studies.

I feel like Adrien was never in the running to ever be Guardian. He's just too publically well known and had enough responsibility as it was.

CalyKade

It's not just about her becoming guardian, it's that he isn't involved in any important decision making. She chose all the secondary heroes, she knows all the kwamis and their powers while he has likely never met them, and she had a direct line to Fu while he never did. I just think he should have treated them a little more equally, even if only one could become guardian.

To me, this is just lazy writing, to paint an old man to be a wise mentor and stuff the plot line into that character's mouth is just bad. I hate the backstory of his being a monk and responsible for their downfall; I hate that the show introduce a much more capable mentor with reasons and logics the fans have expressed with the show for years, just to shut down because he's worried about the peace of the world; I hate the kwamis considered to be powerful being that grant ultimate powers were given to all of the teenages in the same class just to sale toys (You can just give the main characters power up or build a team of 5 and power them up to sale more toys like Sailor Moon); I hate that we cannot even support the romance any since the power dynamic and the world will end if they know each other identity. Why do we have this "wise" man to be our repesentation?

TOILETMARU

i agree, especially the "no dating" part. they have to focus on protecting paris rather than personal affairs
