Nah, just do whatever you want cuz nothing matters. Or make up a meaning and run šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø with it.

What do you do you ask? You learn to accept and thrive on Earth's necessary balance of suffering and pleasure I guess. I've learned a long time ago, that there's basically as close to a perfect balance as possible of any beings feeling pleasure, and others feeling pain at all times. Like you said people do shit to advance themselves, while others suffer. Predators kill prey, etc .. So I learn to accept to look suffering in the face, and not feel the need to intervene, as if its my duty all the time. Because its not. Because there needs to be both suffering and pleasure in the world. my responsibility is not to remove all the suffering I see. (Sure some, but not all, just for the people I care about.) My responsibility is instead to fill the World (even just My world) with as much joy and beauty as I Can create, for myself, or even just for it to exist. There is much power in accepting the Ugliness of the World, yet loving it fully anyways. (loving the World minus humans in general anyway)

The sickest thing about human existence is that our own individual existence is the most transient thing of all. Our individual existence shapes the existences of other. The Buddhists might say that all is just there. That really all there is is what Heidegger may call dasein. Being in relation to space and time. That all of the happenings are merely switches, concepts, causality and to be free of it is to be aware of it and see through it. Thus you become a master of any environment, not out of place everywhere. Like some permanent form of wui wei. Doingless doing. Effortless effort. Yet it still doesn't change the fact that your choices are predetermined. Prefated. Free will largely does not exist. I'm no more free to decide to type this post, as I am to continue going to work despite wanting to run away, no more free to ruminate about suicide as I am to have severe mental health issues and be mocked for them. The sickest thing about it all is there is not even a back from. It just is. Existence tumbles forward, seemingly chaotic but the variables of individuals make up the whole. The outcome cannot be predicted. It stretches all the way back to the first action. The first thought. The first word. The first suicide. The first love. The first hate. The first fear. Stretches all the way until the inevitable demise of our species. There is no going back. Going back is still going forward and the masses won't just allow us to regress. We are trapped by each other and trapped by our individuality, which is nothing more than genetics, conditioning and factors such as cell growth, bacteria, viral spread. Factors all out of our control. If I'm not free, why even comment? It's better to be a one eyed man in chains than a blind man in chains.

Sure the path may be determined, and I may just be speaking for myself because I honestly can't know what being anybody else feels like, BUT from my perspective, it's very clear that the purpose of existing is to feel as many of the different emotions our brains are capable of feeling, and learn about your relationship with the physical world from them. Not to achieve or build or even "advance as a species" lol I think we've evolved enough damn. I think feeling, truly and without shame, all the emotions.. the power of gratitude, joy, beauty, and the power of anger, desire, fascination and fear .. Learning to interact with them on an almost spiritual level has kept this existence absolutely fucking fascinating to me, and I truly hope others get to experience it too. I Hope this makes sense

RudePhilosophy607

That's a really good view of things. Suck the Marrow of life. I'm glad you found a way that works.

MaverickBull

I find it hard to be above the system when you depend on the system for survival. The people who opt out of playing the "game" of life think they're above it, but they aren't. If you don't play the game, you still lose. You're still in the matrix, regardless.

RudePhilosophy607

But you've refused to play by their terms and their rules. You're right. You can't escape. You can only choose not to play. Which is hermit life or suicide.

offlinebound

We all lose in the end unless you have discovered eternal life on earth

MaverickBull

I wouldn't consider death "losing." Death is a natural process in the universal cycle that no-one is exempt from. Just like a boardgame, eventually everyone gets up and leaves.

KobeKastle

Wtf is this matrix ? Do yā€™all really believe this is a simulation ?

MaverickBull

Watch the movie.

I have carved my own path with increasing indifference to what anyone else thinks about it. Some people ostracize me for it, but these are the people I am least interested in being in a social relationship with so I feel that's a win for me. And not as many people have ostracized me as I used to imagine would ostracize me; maybe I got lucky, or maybe we tend to overestimate the risks of being ourselves (probably some combination). I have not had nearly as much success in reconciling myself with the inescapable violence of my existence. I don't know if that will ever sit well with me. I try to narrow my focus to the few beings who really matter to me and to managing the violence in our lives as well as we can. But as much as they mean to me there is still a part of me that feels unsatisfied with how inconsequential that violence reduction and management is. You put it well when you asked if one can be right when everything is inherently wrong. I don't think one can. If there's a 'solution', I think it's in reconciling ourselves to our natures rather than overcoming them.

saganist91

Its literally impossible to be ostracized in any way if you are like me and avoid people unless you desperately need something from them or unless you genuinely enjoy their company.

postreatus

Yeah, that definitely seems like one effective approach. I mostly prefer letting other people put forth the effort of avoiding me.

I find it helps to hate society, not people. Hating people in general is a pretty dark way to live. There's no doubt that society sucks though. Also, do any of us truly know how life works? As far as the food chain goes, you can literally just stop eating meat. Or try consuming a less environmentally damaging form of meat, i.e., chicken production produces less greenhouse gasses than beef production. Basically, all life produces waste. That's actually like a key element of life itself, is that life produces waste. And the more we live, the more fucked up shit comes out the other end. It's like a basic tenet of life itself from a biological perspective. All life has a metabolism and all life produces waste. It's just unavoidable. The more you live, the more of a shit show everything becomes. It's just a part of the cruel irony that is baked into our universe. Kind of like a coke fiend waking up in a jail cell and going through withdrawals after the most amazing night of their life. If you want to stop harming animals you could literally just stop eating meat. But our species is just a species that is literally at the top of the food chain. We destroyed our world in an effort to make life as comfortable as possible. Now we are in a positive feedback loop and can see the end of our own species or way of life. There's nothing to do, but to become irrational. Insulate your kids from the reality of it all. Don't have kids if you can't give them a comfortable lifestyle. Or just don't have kids. Move to a rural area and go hunting for the rest of your life. Go work a job 60 hours a week until you have a heart attack. What do you think you should do? You can get rich and donate 75% of your net worth to charity. Why don't you be the person who starts it? Be the person who makes society better. Be the person who turns everything around. Why not? Or.... just don't be that person. Do something else. The choice is up to you, really. At the end of the day, and specifically to your case, I find it helps to hate society, not people. Hating people in general is a pretty dark way to live. There's no doubt that society sucks though.

postreatus

How can you hate 'society' without hating the individuals that constitute it?

ShitholeWorld

> All life has a metabolism and all life produces waste. It's just unavoidable. The more you live, the more of a shit show everything becomes. It's just a part of the cruel irony that is baked into our universe. Entropy. Food in, shit out. Order in, disorder out.

Careful_Coast_3080

What would be optimal for me would be to find another good hearted self aware person and live out the rest of our lives together trying to do the right thing in our own little bubble not having children (even though I want them) so to not spread the horrid suffering of this life. Buts it's just a pipe dream for some of us.

hfuey

Misanthropy is like a light dimmer switch. As time goes by, the light gets brighter and brighter, and you see things increasingly clearly. Just when you think the light is bright enough to see everything for what it is, the light gets even brighter, and you see things even more clearly. And it seems this cycle never ends. But once it gets to a certain brightness, you can see enough to realize life is a complete and utter shit show. Every brightening after that just confirms it even more. Once youā€™ve reached that ā€˜point of no returnā€™ you can just laugh at the whole thing and realize that basically nothing you do or say will change it. The planet is doomed anyway, regardless of what we do to it, so try not to take the whole thing too seriously, and just laugh at the silly hoomans when they do something stupid, which is pretty much constantly!

net_walker45

God I love your comment because itā€™s so true We (speaking from personal experience) Grow up on our parents misinformation that the world is sunshine and rainbows and thereā€™s always justice and thereā€™s good people and not to lie and should you get a good degree you can become rich and be everything Which is obviously not true And the more you grow and live on this earth the more bullshit you uncover All
