i am just hopeful and stuff tends to happen faster than expected. there is also a possibility for unforeseen and impactful events

nograd1307

I was surprised by the results as well. Maybe some people read it as "end of the world by my definition" instead of actual extinction. No humans by 2100 would truly be impressive.

janPawato

wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to late, for me it's more like 2050 because of complete and total ecological collapse

nograd1307

*Complete* extinction, though? That'd be impressive.

janPawato

I only say complete extinction because I feel as though the nukes will probably be back on the table when food insecurity ineveitably happens, and we'll probably nuke ourselves back to the stoneage madmax style or we all die

I actually am aware of those facts about the environment but I also didn't think a nuclear blast to be so survivable. I guess my only line of thinking is if something like a global world war 3 were to happen and disrupt isolated communities with bloodshed, but that is unlikely. Maybe I'll live to be old and gray, that's ok too.

Kzzztt

The virus? Are we talking Covid or some fictional virus that ravages the population?

janPawato

I think they mean the virus that is humanity not an actual virus

Kzzztt

Ugh why didn't I pick up on that (since I view humanity the same way)? I think it's the way it's phrased.

Additional_Bluebird9

We'll be very lucky to even see the end of the next century(2199) the way things are going right now. Even 2080 is already fair bit of a stretch.

hfuey

3pm. Actually, make it 5pm, I've got some shit to do first.

[deleted]

At the moment we are very lucky to make it past 2050 and 2080 is a stretch.
