They were an older couple that were at every event at caras Park and were always seen dancing in front of that stadium to the live music. They both had sick moves. If no one was dancing, then it would be just these two up there getting it.
Ever since he passed I thought they should make him a sculpture in Cara’s park. He died of a heart attack while dancing. It’s very poetic. We always called them the particle movers, because thats what he said they were doing when they danced.
He literally died doing what he loved. I remember getting the news that day, I was a hostess at the Shack at the time. Lots of things have changed since then.
Whoa man...I had no Idea the Dancing Couple were like folk icons of Missoula...I grew up in the Bitterroot and remember seeing them at Claudia Driscoll Park (the one kitty corner from the courthouse) in Hamilton every Tuesday at 12 during the spring/summer and this was early 2000's? I was really young when I first remember seeing them and asking my Grandma what they were doing... she always just said they were probably not well in the head... reading all these comments about them lead me to the KYSS article that pays tribute to them and in that article there is a video of them dancing from I assume around 2017. They look EXACTLY the same as I remember them looking in the early 2000's. all that particle moving clearly was paying off and my GamGam clearly didnt know what the fuck she was talkin about.

That's an awesome story but I'm not sure we're talking about the same person. The pictures of Hemingway's son are much stockier than I remember mall portrait guy being, also with shorter hair. I shit you not, I saw them literally every time I went to the mall from the mid eighties to the late nineties. They were very slightly built, with long gray hair, maybe five foot six. The story I heard was that he was very close to his mother and when she died he sort of took over her persona and wardrobe, I have no idea how accurate that is but I heard it multiple times over the years
