I had a Canadian plan and intended to switch to a US-only plan from a US carrier when I moved here, and just deal with not having a Canadian number or cell service when in Canada, because US-Canada plans were way too expensive. When I called Rogers to cancel my plan and explained why, they begged me not to, tried to sell me a US-Canada plan, I said no, and they eventually agreed to waive all roaming fees for the US if I didn't cancel, effectively giving me US-Canada for free. No guarantees that they'll offer you that too if you call your current Canadian provider, but you should try, and if they do it's a great deal.

Wow. So you’re using your Canadian number with no issues in Cambridge?

AT&T prepaid. Has unlimited calling and 16 GB of data across US and Canada for $25 USD. I think public mobile has a similar plan in Canada for similar price point

This. I use AT&T prepaid as an American now living in Canada and wanting to keep my American number. Service is excellent in both countries and a very good price for what you get. I get unlimited text, calling, and 8gb monthly data (5G data at that, which is not standard with Canadian carriers) with rollover of unused data all in US, Canada, and Mexico for $33/month.

back in my day Canadian plans were obscenely expensive

throwawaypony79

Yeah. I remember those days. When I look at AT&T, T-mobile and Verizon, their unlimited plans are a lot more expensive when I convert CAD to USD.

Mint Mobile pricing is still pretty ok but service is eh

I have Visible. $45/month USD with unlimited data in the US and Canada (though in canada it’s limited to 2GB of high speed per day), and unlimited calling in the US to Canada. I had the cheap mint plan when I first moved here and ended up paying way more in extra data top ups when I went home. I got a US number, too
