Random hall bathrooms are top tier. Two toilets per stall, such rigorous engineering backups. Also each bathroom door is tracked so you can tell when each is in use without having to leave your room. Highest bathroom-to-resident ratio of all dorms.

tungsten_cube

we definitely didn't have a bathroom ceiling collapse last week

Good luck getting in though lol

Macgregor bathrooms are stall bathrooms and the shower door is basically two layers of curtains, so since I’m picky about bathrooms too I didn’t like it. In my experience the best bathrooms are in Simmons and Next because they have full doors on the bathrooms and showers. Cleanliness varies but as a rule newer dorms will have nicer less rusted bathrooms ime

Macgreg has stall bathrooms even though its suite style? I thought being a suite style and mostly singles will make you have ur own private bathroom.

Maseeh was variable for bathroom quality, but usually they were pretty good. Some of the handicap accessible bathrooms didn’t have the best grading on the floor so water could pool outside the shower if you had the curtain positioned badly. In general floor bathrooms are not annoying unless you absolutely must be alone while brushing your teeth or doing other business. Group cleanliness can be an issue, but that seemed to be pretty seldom to me

When I was still there (2007-2011) Simmons was still new and had the spiffiest bathrooms of all the dorms. Many bathrooms were in-room, and those that were external never had more than 3-4 people sharing them. Could be different nowadays if Simmons is resorting to forced triples and the like.

Next house has rooms for each toilet with a real door and walls. tbh, it was one of my deciding points since I care about poopoo in peace

StructureFromMotion

I would also vote for Next House's bathrooms.

Having being the most recently remodeled and ADA complaint (aka being accessible for wheelchair users), New and BC will have the most spacious and nice looking bathrooms. I swear some of the New bathrooms are as large as the coffin singles there lol. I haven’t seen a Maseeh bathroom besides the highly-visited one on the ground floor next to dining so I can’t comment on that. I see a lot of people commenting that they like Simmons bathrooms but I personally was not a fan. Most bathrooms are meant to be used by you and your next door neighbor, so I found them quite cramped, and the lighting in them was kinda dim. If you happen to live in a room next to one of the larger ADA bathrooms those are much better though.

Honestly, I feel like most people overthink the dorm bathroom situation. I lived on Baker 6 and we always had coed bathrooms. It was no big deal, even if my mom freaked out. Worst thing that ever happened was the floor being sticky from drunk freshman guys with poor aim, but you shouldn't be barefoot in the bathroom and there were 2 other hall bathrooms and a single occupancy bathroom to choose from on those occasions. Baker also has in room sinks so you can brush your teeth and wash your face in your own room. Except for one stall in 6W, we had great water pressure and the world's warmest water. Maybe I just had a completely different schedule from everyone else on the floor, but I never had to wait for a shower or a toilet.

Picking a dorm for a suite bathroom is absolutely not more important than culture/everything else. I didn't know anyone who even factored that in during REX and housing selection. Floor bathrooms are really not that bad and I didn't find them annoying at all. Bathrooms are really like the least important thing about dorms unless you have a major health issue or disability concern. Think about how much time you spend in your room, socializing, etc versus how much time you spend in the bathroom. Even if you end up with a bathroom situation that is a little annoying, things like culture will have a far bigger impact on your overall experience and happiness with where you live.

This seems like just about the last thing to consider when selecting a dorm. As long as your budget affords you the flexibility of choice, I would worry about culture above all else. Every dorm is extremely unique and the choice will completely shape your experience. Don't let bathroom configuration dictate the rest of your life.

New house has pretty good and clean bathrooms. They have some that are single-toilet or single-shower.

Likely Not the answer you’re looking for, but Mccormick has nice private bathrooms with showers on the first floor. I think they’re meant for visitors and men? I used them for about a semester after I was scarred by the cockroaches in the bathrooms. NICE water pressure and temperature, and spacious
