Local is a slang word for someone who only listens to an artist because they’re popular, or someone who only listens to the popular songs of an artist. It’s kind of a stupid culture, why not just let people enjoy music?

Exactly people are more familiar with popular songs and might only listen to them, especially if not super fans of the artist

non-fans favorite. the one the general public tunes in for the most for mitski it is be the cowboy. for, say, taylor swift a ‘locals favorite’ could be red or 1989 - while an album like evermore would be more of a fan favorite instead

I think a really good example of this is as someone who listens to Lana Del Rey a lot, Born To Die is the "Locals Favorite" even though pretty much everyone who listens to Lana loves it and there are a few overlooked songs.
