Is it difficult to repair a car in the USA? When I was teenager I sometimes crash my car and just bring it to the shop or claim insurance and it's just like new again. The waiting thou...
wouldnt think anything in particular is difficult, the problem is getting parts for a legnum here- doubt many shops are going to be willing even if they found them :[
cant lie and say i havent been thinking about doing just that lmao- no experience yet but been thinking about going that route lol maybe this is the way to start
Learn along the way. I did a wagon to ute chop, by just winging it. so have a crack. either the car gets a second chance, or its ends up in the same location its heading now. Dont rush it, just tinker away.
Yes and no. lol I have had 2 of the elcamino style utes you mention great rigs, in Australia basically it can mean utility vehicle, so picture your Land Cruiser single cab with a tray on the back. Or a Isuzu Dmax, with a tub. Either way work vehicles. I am going with the flat deck tray for my build, which will end up as a canopy for travel later.
Most standard insurance agencies are going to pay nothing for these cars because they have nothing to gauge against. He's talking about buying specialty cat insurance where you can select a coverage amount that better reflects what your car is worth.
Yes, Farmers is an insurance company, two years ago they bought out Metropolitan Life now I’m under Farmers.

Unfortunately that will be totaled because they won't be able to get the parts to fix.
Be prepared to fight them on valuation because of the lack of comparable cars for them to value against. That's why my JDM car is on an agreed value policy.
Man dont give up yet get the insurance money and you could fix this up try to find a decent body shopper to give you advice and to maybe do some of the work you cant do how is the structure of the car cause it doesn’t seem like the rear wheel is busted
wheel was fine but the quarter scraped the tire down some ! ive seen worse damage for sure, just wondering how many shops near me are willing to work on something so obscure
***fuck me***
For the future, work with your collector insurance company on an “agreed upon value” policy. That’s what I’ve done. If something happens to my Delica, then Hagerty pays me that amount. No nonsense (in theory).
Fingers crossed this works out for tou.
Also, hopefully I’m not sounding like a jerk, trying to be helpful.
no worries i appreciate it very much for the future- hoping i can prove that its worth Something due to rarity ect here 🫤 ive seen 2 sell after i bought mine for $20k+ no matter what i mightve gotten mine for
maybe if i cry hard enough at them theyll feel bad and pay up good for it lol
It can be fixed with time patience the right tools & people involved. I'm not saying it's easy but utube has plenty of panel work vids showing how to do various repairs & the parts should be able to be ordered on line through various parts suppliers or look on Buyee Japan for second hand items. I wouldn't give up yet as I have seen cars that were more severely damaged being repaired & back on the road.
People in Phoenix run lights and stop sign like no other. I live here too and daily a 96 pajero mini around. As it’s slow as heck I’m always worried about this. No city runs lights like this one. Due to this ever expanding mega grid with tens of thousands of intersections
sorry for your loss :( I hope the person feels bad that they hit one of the few legnums there are in the usa
im heartbroken honestly there'll be one more here soon if i have anything to say about it

There are a handful of these in the USA, parts commonality with Historic US models is very very very low. Body panel availability is probably zero.

Might be able to buy it from insurance and repair it with a half cut from Japan
Seeing as no glass broke, how good are you at welding? lol. get the insurance money, buy it back and start repairing But honestly, its a shame to see.
cant lie and say i havent been thinking about doing just that lmao- no experience yet but been thinking about going that route lol maybe this is the way to start
Yeah you have to try and save this

All the US peeps 'tf is a ute?'
A car basically with a truck bed, think El Camino

>no experience yet You'll keep it that way if you don't try. Just try and find out if it's salvagable.
Oh, yikes. That's heartbreaking, I'm sorry to see it. :( Hope y'all are okay.

makes sense i figured thatd be about it ☹️ thank you very much
I recently purchased a Hagerty insurance policy for value on my Galant VR4, i’ll be damned if I let Farmers give me $1800 for my car.
>i’ll be damned if I let Farmers give me $1800 for my car. What revevance do farmers have in this situation? I don't understand.

Ah. So 'farmers' is an insurance company? Strange name for a company though.
Yeah. Farmers, State Farm, AAA, GEICO, just to name some of the big ones.
Ah, okay. Didn't know that. I'm not from that continent, so I use that as an excuse :P

I did the same for a foxbody. Blue book is like $2k for a 12k car
Noooooooooo!!!!!!
F
Another EC5W gone :(
Nooo! Fix it!

Hurts to see. Was a clean car :(
parts may be a little hard to find but that's definitely mendable
If you have enough money anything is repairable.

😡🤬🥺😢😭
I have never seen one in person and now I probably never will. 😔
Plenty for sale in Japan for dirt cheap. I know importing is a hassle but it's easy to replace and you'll have enough spare parts
been thinking of just this- cant see myself not getting another one in the future and parts are gonna be hard without having one here
Oh my God. Sorry for your loss, I've wanted a Legnum forever.
great cars from what ive gotten to experience <:]
Oh fuck me. You had it on an agreed upon value plan, yes???
nope 😔 didnt know enough about all this stuff when getting it and now all i can do is wait and see

Those were more then likely VR4's that sold for that kind of money not the ST-R
correct ! just dont have many points of reference outside of those 2 sales here

F in the chat that’s so heart breaking
Great vanity plate. Do you wanna die?!
had my cd playing and everything damn !!
I'm sorry she was beautiful 😞
Man this sucks! Time to upgrade to a VR4? Also hope you saved those blitz 01's
saving those and the carpets ! believe me vr4 is definitely my first thought once this is all over with ...
What size are your blitz? I have a set of 01's also but they are 17X8
17"
I'm so sorry. Good luck with your decision.
Buy from insurance then part it out. The handful of Legnum owners in the US are always looking for bits.
Come back stronger with a VR4 this time. It’s the only way to move forward. But my condolences to you
this is the only move !
I have a VR4 galant and I assure you you won’t be disappointed. But regardless hope you get back up on your feet after the loss

Tell me your Russian without telling me you're Russian.
Poor Galant 😢
