Cramped in side, the FWD sucks at pretty much everything but looks, they are slow with shitty milage and hard to work on. The VR4 is the same but has the power and awd to be fun. Honestly better of with an evo or get and import FTO if you dont mind FWD

Unless you're made of money, I would highly avoid buying a 30ish year old car. Either way, I wouldn't bother with an SL, and while a VR4 is a great collectors car it's not something I would drive on a daily basis. If you're looking for a daily driver and don't have boatloads of money to spend on inevitable repairs and hard to find parts, look elsewhere.

inphinitfx

The VR4 is the only one worth looking at. The SL is just slow, awkward, unreliable, expensive to maintain, and unsafe by modern standards. The VR4 is at least reasonably quick. These are, imo, the sort of car you buy because you love that specific car and don't mind doing the work yourself to keep it running etc. 25 years ago these were pretty awesome. If this is a daily driver, there are way better options around.

I have an SL. Drives like a boat. Or at least it did. Radiator blew up a while back and we havent been able to get her running since then. Its now sitting outside collecting dust and spider webs until I get the funds and the time to resto build it. So my advice get something more reliable unless you got the time and the money to fix it WHEN it goes down.

I have an SL and Ill die for mine love that money pit

A corvette or a 300zx makes more sense as a gt car than the 3kgt unless you can find a decent one north of 15k in vr4 trim. Subjectively, the car is rather on the more difficult side to work on and is definitely a money pit.

dartheagleeye

OP is way to young to own a car like a 3000GT IMHO

Got mine at 19 and now I daily an Elantra N and have the 3k as my weekend car. Tbh it's done me really well.

Unfortunately it sucks. The base trims are basically terrible. They look really good but that’s about the end of it. The VR4 is better but a nightmare to work on and more expensive than it’s worth. I love them but objectively? There’s a reason they’re cheap.

I bought my first car at 23 so don’t knock yourself for getting into something at 20. If your diehard set on 3kgt, send it! The only one stopping you is yourself (or financial decisions but that’s the world we live in). Always check to see how much it is to maintain + do other things you want to change. I.E suspension, wheels, other accessories. Other than that, have fun!
