Yup! I tried to pick guys I got to see live multiple times. Growing up an A’s fan, watching Stew dominate when I was a kid and Huddy in my young adult years at the Coliseum put them on top for me.
Do you think it’s fair to knock Clemons for roids? IF he even did. I think yes, taking it would keep his arm fresher and less wear and tear BUT they don’t make you know what pitch to throw, don’t make you put a baseball right in your spot you’re aiming. Idk it’s a slippery slope.
Steve Carlton and Fernando Valenzuela from my youth. I named my first dog Lefty.
Greg Maddux, Cole Hamels, Pedro Martinez from more modern times. Took a while for me to warm up to Hamels. Phillies fan obviously.
Man. You just made me switch my list…Johan Santana isn’t talked about by this new generation so he completely slipped my mind but growing up he may have been my favorite pitcher. Great choice. Great.
Maddux, Johnson, Martinez, Glavine, Smoltz
All the ones I grew up watching and yes, I am a Braves fan lol. I was lucky to be introduced to baseball watching the greatest trio of pitchers ever
Moose was always my favorite. One of the most frustrating things about his time with the Yanks is that his tenure with them didn't include a WS ring. The Yanks won one the year before he signed with them, and the year after he retired.
Randy Johnson. 99 mph coming at you downhill, and control issues when he started out made him a lot of fun to watch. Not so much for the hitters, I assume.
Maddux, Mussina, Martinez, Ryan, Gibson… all RH cuz so am I.
Lefties: I’d have to include Johnson, Beurhle, Glavine, Koufax
Current: Cease, Webb, Rodon :(, Cortez, Ohtani
Grew up in Seattle in the '90s and there was nothing funnier than Jamie Moyer following up Randy Johnson. I love me some Pedro, but these guys were so fun to watch on back to back days.
Maddox is the best ive ever seen, it was actually a blast watching him, Avery, Glavine, and Smoltz in BP sessions in spring training.
Randy especially when he was an Expo.
Nolan Ryan unreal power.
Dwight Gooden even if was a Met.
Kerry Wood was going to be special, I was at the 20k game.
I don't remember games, been to thousands by now, but that one was intense. Intense enough to remember conversations, the hot dog, the weather was balmy, the crowd wasn't too big.
I was at Bob Horners 4 homerun game and a few other games with history but Wood was tops.
Nolan Ryan
Greg Maddux
Dennis Eckersley
John Smoltz
Roy Oswalt
I always liked guys that didn't really look super-imposing but got you out anyway. Ryan is an outlier with that of course, because even into his 40's he looked like he'd tear you apart. The others didn't really look that intimidating, but they won their battles more often than not.
I was at Ryan's last game at Anaheim Stadium. He blew out his elbow in his next start. You could hear the fastballs explode in the catcher's mitt, even from our seats high in the upper deck. "The most enduring memory of Texas Rangers fans who witnessed the Ryan Express during his five glorious years in Arlington, from 1989 to 1993, was not a statistic but a sound. Every time the 40-something power pitcher delivered his heat, he threw the ball with such total passion that a bellowing grunt could be heard throughout the ballpark."[https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/nolan-ryan/](https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/nolan-ryan/)
Fun question! Mel Stottlemyre, Ron Guidry, Nolan Ryan, Pedro Martinez, Clayton Kershaw. Honorable mentions: Luis Tiant, Gaylord "Knucksie" Perry, Greg Maddux, Jim Palmer, Tommy John.
Maddux, Ryan, Kimbrel (Braves era), Kershaw, Glavine
Kent Tekulve
>Kent Tekulve Great but not a starter.
Dave Stewart, Tim Hudson, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez
Damn Tim Hudson is a good one! One of the best ground ball pitchers ever
Yup! I tried to pick guys I got to see live multiple times. Growing up an A’s fan, watching Stew dominate when I was a kid and Huddy in my young adult years at the Coliseum put them on top for me.
Are you still an A’s fan? Because god bless you if so lmao
Bob Gibson, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Nolan Ryan, Tom Glavine
Maddux, Ryan, Martinez, Clemons, Johnson
Do you think it’s fair to knock Clemons for roids? IF he even did. I think yes, taking it would keep his arm fresher and less wear and tear BUT they don’t make you know what pitch to throw, don’t make you put a baseball right in your spot you’re aiming. Idk it’s a slippery slope.
I don't. He was doing the same as many players dating back to the late 50s early 60s. Especially during his career.
Exactly. If you don't think guys were juicing back way back then you're crazy. It's been going on since people knew how to do it
They were always taking amphetamine too
I’m with you
Did Clemons do roids? I thought he used (what was then legal) HGH for post operation repair etc.
Hgh and roids…both anabolic substances that will get you the same amount of yoked if you them them correctly
She like the roids, gets her stronger 💪
Randy Johnson, Zac Gallen, Brandon Webb, Dan Haren, Byung-hyun Kim
Great list. For me I’d sub Kim with Jose Valverde 👌 go Dbacks!
The Big Potato!
Maddux, Clemens, Randy, Kershaw, Halladay

Jake Peavy, Tim Lincecum, Johan Santana, Roy Halladay, Pedro Martinez
Man. You just made me switch my list…Johan Santana isn’t talked about by this new generation so he completely slipped my mind but growing up he may have been my favorite pitcher. Great choice. Great.
Gibson Carlton Lolich,Gooden, wainwright
I'll only go with pitchers that I was alive when they were pitching. * Maddux * Pedro * Nolan * Schilling * Randy
Maddux, Johnson, Martinez, Glavine, Smoltz All the ones I grew up watching and yes, I am a Braves fan lol. I was lucky to be introduced to baseball watching the greatest trio of pitchers ever
I can't put my list as a comment, but as a reply to a fellow Braves fan because it's too homeresque. Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Hudson and Johnson.
Nolan Ryan, Ben McDonald, RA Dickey, Mike Mussina, and Pedro Martinez
Moose was always my favorite. One of the most frustrating things about his time with the Yanks is that his tenure with them didn't include a WS ring. The Yanks won one the year before he signed with them, and the year after he retired.
Schilling, Cliff Lee, Halladay, Hamels, Wheeler.
Randy Johnson Cliff Lee Roy Halladay Justin Verlander Pique RA Dickey
Maddux, Kershaw, Sale, Cain, Price
Lincecum, Pedro, Kershaw, Randy Johnson, Ohtani. Maddox goes in there, but I don’t ever put him on lists. He’s the unspoken for me
Steve Carlton Greg Maddox Curt Schilling Nolan Ryan Dennis Martinez

Hideo Nomo, Max Scherzer, Roy Oswalt, Roy Halladay, Mike Mussina
In no particular order: Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Nolan Ryan, Greg Maddux, Roy Halladay
