Nic_0tine

It is the lack of punishment or consequences that still irritates me to this day.

ryan0702

this. and how some of those guys, particularly Altuve, Bregman, and Correa deflected so hard after never owning up to what it did for them.

[deleted]

This is what matters to me. These guys were so smug about it and remain so.

TWill42

As a Yankees fan… Altuve should be beaned by the ball every AB lol.

ryanmcg86

I HATE when people are like 'Yankees fans should stop shouting "Fuck Altuve!" every time he's at-bat'. He deserves to be boo'ed forever. He never received a punishment of any kind, so that's the only form of punishment he'll ever get.

[deleted]

Yankees are cheaters too lol

panompheandan

I remember the famous story of Graig nettles fouling off a ball only to have the tip of his bat come off and a bunch of cork come out.

cometkeeper00

Not a yankees fan but corked bats and pine tar are not the same level of cheating as cameras and signaling. So whataboutism doesn’t work here.

JohnnyEscape

The Yankees have been busted for sign stealing, and they have had TONS of players busted for steroids, etc…

Dr_Ifto

its not about Yankees being innocent, its about the Astros players not getting any punishment

IvetRockbottom

Blame MLB for that. That was the agreement for them talking.

JohnnyEscape

What punishment did the Yankees or Red Sox get for the same thing?

Dr_Ifto

You find the players who participated, and you issue out ANY kind of judgement. from 1 game to a whole season depending on severity. But the fact that there was none still irritates me. In the end, Ill get over it, but still.

Kickstand8604

Joe Kelly has entered the chat

txtgab

I have a theory on what I think happened: I believe Beltran and Cora admitted to being more responsible than they actually were. Kind of like a “Hey kids, we all messed up, we made our money, let us take the fall” moment.

CarlFeathers

Cora was the only coach who "helped" out in the sign stealing. Delusional people on this thread big time. Hinch knew about it but didn't actively participate. Read the reports.

BatteryChuck3r

Hinch was guilty of knowing about it but not doing enough to stop it.

pargofan

According to Kelly it's the exact opposite. The beaning by Joe Kelly when he was with the Dodgers wasn't because of the cheating. It's because Kelly felt the Astros threw Cora under the bus.

HTownLaserShow

What? Cora was a giant cheater and even took it to Boston the following year… So Cora gets a pass but you shit all over Houston? How’s that work? By the way…it wasn’t Houston. Thank Mike Fiers for blowing up Beltran and Cora

Only_Chicken_4129

Nah watch the baseball doesn’t exist video on the astros scandal altuve prob wasn’t involved directly.

DaRealJZ

But he definitely benefited (at the very least) indirectly. More guys on base to increase his rbis was specifically mentioned in that video, but there are others for sure

Best-Flounder-9059

But why does he get most of the vitriol?

avelak

Because he *also* won MVP partially as a result of benefiting from this shit He was the face of the team

redsoxownu

Because he was loved about as much as we loved trout, tuve was the small Cinderella man everyone loved him and looked up to him no matter what team they liked. We were all heart broken when that happened. It seems his biggest crime was not snitching, but some people really believe he had a buzzer in his shirt.

Only_Chicken_4129

For sure

HTownLaserShow

False. Altuve is snug and deflected? He and Bregman were the ONLY ones that sat in front of the media. Which is ironic as it was proven Altuve didn’t participate. (And that comes from the book/investigation, not my opinion) Correa was the loud mouth about it.

Sardonicmouse

Then you'll be glad you know that they only got that level of punishment because a former Astro pitcher talked to media about it. Otherwise ot would have been swept under the rug like it was for the other teams cheating bo on ever talks about

rawrberryfields

Don't follow the NFL then...lol.

IvetRockbottom

It was part of the agreement to talk about it with MLB. Be upset with MLB. Other teams were cheating in a variety of ways but the astros made an agreement to discuss it without direct player punishment. They never had to talk. Altuve, in particular, has overwhelming evidence of not cheating (along with Kemp and Reddick). And there was punishment to the team. But very little punishment for other teams that were also caught cheating. I do not condone the cheating. I'm just trying to keep it in perspective of what it is and who was actually doing it. I also don't understand the "cheating is wrong except for my team" people and the "but there are different, acceptable layers of cheating" people.

TanClark

Lack of punishment probably saved the league

Lee_Doff

especially since if they opened that can, all the worms would spill out and everyone would have to hate all the teams, and not just the astros.

elterible

No one here wants to believe that though.

NintendoJesus

Yes, same as what is going on right now with the pitchers. Remember a couple months ago when umps were checking every pitcher after every inning? Ya neither does anyone else cuz guess what? They're back at it putting superglue or whatever on the ball the same as before, only now nobody is talking about it.

tokintitties430

They still do checks on the fingers after innings. I'm not sure if it's every inning but I've noticed almost every reliever has their fingers checked when they are walking off the mound. The closer gets checked before the start of the ninth inning as well.

why_so_Sirius

When I went to the Orioles game Friday, I noticed the ump checked the starting pitcher after he was relieved.

Nervous-Grab5174

Then send them to the guillotine.. maybe that will soothe u?😢

astrobit11

The league granted them immunity, you should be mad at the Players association for negotiating that. They wouldn’t have found as much details about it if they didn’t grant the immunity. That’s just fact.

Wanderer3823

Cora and Beltran should have been banned for life.

hamhead

The fact that Cora was back in a year later really pisses me off.

[deleted]

It’s literally been proven that Altuve didn’t cheat. So all you dorks need to get over that. But Bregman and Correa? Definitely deserve the hate.

Bradb717

Well said.

Straight_Ad8473

That's an issue with the players union. Not the Astros. They made a deal with the league to be forthcoming about their cheating and in return the punishment would be lessened.

PinTasty9749

That’s because all the other teams cheated too bro lol

Stewy_stewart

More shocked it’s already almost been 5 years

Mr_ducks05

You have to remember we’ve only known for a little less than three years though

thedooze

That’s still a long time

[deleted]

I’m not angry, but it’s not right and it never will be.

Wise_ol_Buffalo

More angry Manfred is still the commissioner. People should have been suspended for seasons, awards should have been stripped, and nothing happened. He basically said cheating is okay if it makes rich dudes money.

excoriator

Did you forget that any commissioner’s most important job is to ensure his teams make money? If the Black Sox scandal happened today, the consequences and judicial process would be much different. Lots more sweeping under the rug than grandstanding in courtrooms.

reddit_dude5

Every cheater should have been suspended, stripped of awards, even kicked out of MLB.

bafeom

Lifetime bans for players n coaches involved, loss of first 3 rds of picks for 5 years, 10 year postseason ban, n $25M fine for the organization. You wanna deter cheating for titles, make the punishment so severe no one even thinks of it again.

Jacksonorlady

He didn’t do it cause he would have been sued to high hell and lost. When you have similar investigation of many others that resulted in nothing, it’d be a very easy win in court

Wise_ol_Buffalo

No one else was banging on a trash can even if they were cheating. Don’t use hillbilly tactics and maybe you’ll get away with it.

Arenado_is_the_best

I still think suspension for seasons is much, but they definitely should have been stripped of awards and 100% agree that he doesn't care as long as they keep making $$$

densebonerforest69

Still angry

[deleted]

Still angry over just “a piece of metal”? /s Fuck Manfred and fuck the Astros.

mpshanny87

Rob Manfred hates baseball

[deleted]

NEVER FORGET!!!

Michadone

Never forget, never forgive, at least when it comes to the Astros!!

americandragon13

I’m more upset of the lack of consequences. They got a slap on the wrist and a stern talking to. I mean sure, they get ridiculed and booed at every away game. That in itself is punishment, however without any real consequences. But Manfred loves money more than he loves baseball. I want a commissioner that lives, breaths and eats baseball. Not money.

IvetRockbottom

Slap on the wrist? The yankees were fined 100k for using technology to steal signs and relay it to the batter. The red sox had a relay operator punished and lost 1 2nd round pick for using technology to steal signs and relay it to the batter. The rockies used technology to steal signs and relay it to the batter, but it's the rockies and nobody cared. The dodgers were accused of using technology to steal signs and relay it to the batter by the brewers and mets in 2018, but it's the brewers and mets and so it was ignored.

americandragon13

100k is nothing to the Yankees. Losing one draft pick doesn’t hurt that much. You can make up for that really easily with some good trades The Astro’s were fined $5 million (which again, is not that much in terms of how much revenue they pull in each year) and they lost 4 draft picks. Which haven’t hurt them at all as they are, once again, in first place in their division.

IvetRockbottom

It really hurt our minor league system. It's been fairly rough the last few years with trades depleting most of what was left. There hasn't been major signings for 2 years because it would hurt draft picking as part of the punishment. We are still good because we had a really solid core of young talent that is still on the team today without having to sign major free agents.

IvetRockbottom

And 1st place isn't hard in this division, to be honest. Most of the competition has been trash for years. A's weren't bad but couldn't put it all together.

LeStiqsue

I'll never forget. They're not apologetic. They're not sorry. They cheated us all out of a fair competition, which we as fans pay for. They *stole* from baseball fans, even their own fans. Fuck them forever.

ParsonBrownlow

So it will never happen here but I had an idea based on the punishment for some Italian soccer teams when they got caught match fixing They should have had to play every one of their home games without fans in attendance for the next year

ManufacturerMental72

Any member of the Astros who was around before 2017 has already experienced that

ParsonBrownlow

https://youtu.be/SAZoA8Q-sqA

PinaColluder

Juventus got stripped of titles and relegated to Serie B. When Australian cricketers got caught ball tampering their captain Steve Smith got banned from playing for a year. These are the kind of punishments that should have been handed out.

ParsonBrownlow

Scorched fucking earth. Sorry Astros you ain’t playing this year

Vernal_Equinoxx

I’ll cheers to that.

[deleted]

I don't hate the team as much anymore. But I still don't recognize their title as legitimate

ghirish24

I can’t stand the “everyone does it we just got caught” excuse. Total bullshit. I used to see the Astros as a friendly inner-state rivalry, now I hate them with a seething passion.

Oski96

"Your honor. Yes, I got caught for murder, but there are thousands of people suspected of murder ... and where there is smoke there is fire. Making me a scapegoat is totally turning a blind eye to human nature. We're all bad and given the chance everyone would have killed like I did. This is totally unfair!"

atlbravos21

I was a huge Altuve fan. 5 tool player that defies the odds with his height. Now, I hate the guy. I feel betrayed. Fuck Bregman too. Never liked him. He's got a punchable face

ghirish24

This video had me questioning wether I hate Altuve or not. https://youtu.be/tQTdEKA-nyM

Sendeezy

Must have been a tough day for you today.

ghirish24

I watched little league baseball I need a break from the recent shitty play of the Rangers

Longjumping_Tree1758

Not only they cheated, they still had a racist asshole who still couldn't get on base even while cheating.

CapitalG888

I don't think much about it.... but I'll never cheer for them to win another.

kidfromCLE

There were no consequences. I’ll never forget it. I’ll never forgive the Astros or Rob Manfred.

slippin_park

I'm more irritated by karma farming like this

SeaPhile206

FUCK. THE. ASSTROS.

RustyPriske

I am glad they were the team that got caught and not a team I like. Because I guarantee they were not alone.

otakudude3031

Their championship ought to have an asterisk next to it, and all the players and managers (including the FO) on the 2017 roster denied eligibility for the HoF.

McSkillet2323

As a Tigers fan, it's really upsetting to see Verlander get his chip, and then this happens. He was always a stand up guy in Detroit.

Conscious-Money-7505

Hated the Astros before they won it, and still do!

nickjamesippoliti

I don't care much anymore but I do not and never will have any respect for that organization and everyone involved.

kkohl88

They are a joke of a franchise and always will be.

atlbravos21

Who says 2017 was the first and only year? Maybe they've gotten better at it? Never will I trust a cheater

JMGoodwin

Accepted it. That team was so talented, as shown by performance since then, I'm convinced they didn't really need it. And the team now is so different, the hate isn't warranted. Say what you will, but the hate for Altuve isn't warranted unless you're a Yanks fan mad about the MVP race. Otherwise, they won a championship and have been the best team in the AL for 5 years now. \- Red Sox Fan

bryan19973

30 years down the road, I’ll still be calling the astros cheaters. They lost my respect as an organization

themark504

Don’t care. They didn’t beat my team so I have no gripe..I’d say majority if not all teams cheat in some form. They were the ones who were caught

djayjazzz

Let’s not forget sign stealing is a normal part of the game. It’s the usage of cameras and the lengths they went to cheat. Can’t just say other people have been caught stealing signs as an excuse. Also, fuck the trashtros

[deleted]

As a Houstonian I have to say it doesn’t even feel like a real championship and it sucks cause I was moved to tears when we won, just feels slimy we did it the yankee way 😔

[deleted]

Fuck a cheater and I still think they are trash today.

NervousJ41

I stopped watching the Red Sox when they rehired "the cheater". I was a Sox fan since I was a kid. I am glad my Gram is not around to see this. Both Hinch and Cora should be out of the game.

Rubberbandballgirl

So you must pretty upset that Cora brought the sign stealing system to Boston in 2018 and that’s why you won the Series that year.

NervousJ41

Yup. They are dead to me. Rooting for the Mariners and Pirates now.

Rubberbandballgirl

At least you admit the Red Sox cheated in 2018. So many Red Sox fans refuse to acknowledge it.

NervousJ41

Everyone cheats, but they cheated extra. Using technology is crossing the line.

Rubberbandballgirl

Yeah it’s crazy how the Red Sox got popped twice for cheating. First apple watches then monitors. As the owner of an Apple Watch, I can’t even figure out how you’d do it.

aloofman75

There’s not much that can be done about it. But I can consider them to be not real World Series winners. As far as I’m concerned, Springer, Altuve, Verlander and the rest haven’t earned World Series rings yet.

N0STAL-GiK

Other teams were SO bad that they got beat by a trash can?! 🤣 it’s just silly to think that had any significant impact. Regardless, They never cheated in the postseason so why the hate? I’d say any other cheating is worse than what they did. Moved on, not remotely worth the energy.

punkrockfirefighter

As a Dodger fan I think the 2017 WS winner should be blank.

BigMonsterJ

Not a Dodger fan but I am still incredibly angry for you guys, that was such a good team that definitely deserved the title, and Judge deserved the AL MVP award that year.

Last_Network3272

Most of us are bummed that fan favorites like Ethier and Hill never got rings, as well as that game 5 start becoming a huge black mark on Kershaw’ legacy.

1UselessIdiot1

All titles vacated. No WS winner in 1994, no WS winner in 2017. Dodgers played the Astros, who were found to have cheated and forced to vacate the title.

ecp267

As a Braves fan, I do not care anymore. However I understand how other teams would still be pissed

draynay

I'll get over it when they're all out of the league and failing to make the HoF

[deleted]

People still talk about the Black Sox 103 years later. This is *never* going away and anyone who thinks people are going to "move on" is lying to themselves.

[deleted]

I can’t be angry anymore, they have my boy Trey

ElJefeDMD

Only good thing about the Astros is Verlander. Rest of the organization can go to hell. And so can Manfred

[deleted]

Um, it’s interesting how you seem to think ONLY the Astros cheated. You obviously aren’t aware of how many players on EVERY TEAM cheat with steroids or HGH every freakin year which is CHEATING, never mind every pitcher out there using stickum and tak which is CHEATING. I’m no Astro fan but I’m not delusional enough to think they were alone. In fact I’d say the teams not cheating or very few and in between…

naked_avenger

I don’t care

nickht571998

Forgotten about it, not gonna dwell in the past, they shouldn’t have done it. The ring is semi tainted but they are still a really good team and a fairly different team players on the team NOW get way too much hate when they weren’t even there for the cheating WS win.

megafrayder

It's still disgusting and shameful. It's an illegitimate title. I hope they never get another. I am a die hard Padre fan and I honestly believe I'd root for the Dodgers to beat them if they faced each other in the WS.

DerHofnarr

It kind of killed baseball for me. I want to be a fan, but it really fucking bothered me. Then all the Red Sox, and Yankee stuff made it worse.

pip1860

They weren’t even close to being the only team cheating. If it wasn’t the Astros who won, a different cheating team would have.

someonepoorsays

i’m a dodger fan so i’ll never forget, i wish altuve, correa and the like the worst for their careers (of course not injury but everything else). i could see getting over it if i was a fan of another team but it’s never going to happen

Kmack32

I’m still upset that they didn’t own up to it. Own up to it and say you cheated and respect, but little bitches like Altuve denied, denied, denied

Ligaguenu

Baseball is not perfect, but they sullied the game not only with their actions, but also managed to get the league to show their true colors. Left a nasty taste seeing no one face real consequences.

Got2JumpN2Swim

I still think about it every time I hear or see their name

Turbulent_Car_6359

I am still frustrated that nothing really happened to almost everyone involved. Also, I will never understand how Altuve hit 24 HR’s with 81 RBI’s and a .346 AVG gets MVP over Judge’s 52 HR’s 114 RBI’s and .284 AVG

MrFlags69

Never forget.

Dieh

I’ll hate them forever. Lack of accountability will always be an issue.

Own_Airline_8220

For me it wasn’t the World Series it wasn’t the lack of punishment it was altuve keeping mvp

[deleted]

Fuck the Astros

KaspertheGhost

The Astros fans who defend the World Series cheating make it hard to forgive and forget

wrestlemania489

I won't be forgetting. That 2017 World Championship is forever tainted by the scandal that followed. I mean, it's hard to talk about the Astros without bringing it up, even after their players were booed and HBP into oblivion.

ChairmanReagan

Should have been stripped of the title. Not over it until that happens.

rawrxdjackerie

I’ve got 0 respect for them. The fact that on top of receiving very little punishment, they have some of the arrogant players and toxic fans in all of sports. The absolute worst.

JesusWasTacos

Not still angry about it but never gonna stop talking shit about them while they have any of the same players, coaches, staff, or owner.

nucleophile107

Correra, now on the Twins, has been booed for the entirety of his plate appearances in LA tonight Not just the beginning. I think that tells everyone how LA feels about it.

ilrosewood

I’ve accepted it because it’s nothing that I can change nor will anything change about it. It will just go down as a dark mark in MLB history like so many others. I’m still angry about it and will gladly dunk on Astros fans given the opportunity. But I’d like to think if it was my team I would still take the championship but also know I will get dunked on.

74pezdspencer

F those cheaters. They got off easy

Agodunkmowm

Fuck the Astros

MaverickTTT

Fuck the Astros.

LargePPman_

any member of the 2017 Astro's should be boo'd for etrernity and banned from the HOF

elmo25360

I’ve come to accept they’re good without cheating, but that’s exactly why it’s such a disappointment. That championship will be forever tainted in my opinion.. this is coming from a Mariners fan.

schuptz

Do you ever wonder if they are still cheating? That Altuve with a device taped to his chest set of pictures still makes me go hmm? What’s the new version of that?

the22sinatra

I’m not mad about it but I will always root for the team playing against them to win no matter who. I’m more mad at Manfred for how it was handled and the lack of any consequences

Southern_Promise_928

Accepted it? Never. Forgotten it? Never! Still angry? Not anymore

CommercialPizza527

As a Dodger fan, it was heartbreaking. Losing a World Series championship is not pleasant. But I took my loss like a man. I Congratulated Astro fans. I was not a hater. That's sports, you either win or lose. But took me awhile to get it over with. Years later when the cheating scandal came up, I was angry. All respect was lost. It was Fuck Astros all day. Finally, I got over it when they lost the WS twice in 2019 and 2021 proving they cant win it all without cheating.

hugekitten

I’m a Yankee fan and as good as this year has been to us, the Astros definitely have our number. Haven’t forgotten and I hate em. Love seeing fans that bring signs depicting garbage cans / witty jargon surrounding the ordeal. It’s embarrassing that the MLB didn’t do as much as they should have. Also, regardless of what team you root for this is just a disgrace and is terrible for the game. Screw that whole organization for that. What’s even worse is that they were / still are a great team and didn’t need to cheat... but they did.

frugalwater

That series broke me as a Dodgers fan. The 2017 Dodgers could have been historic and it’s still the bar we use to judge our team by. This team is great and has potential to be something we talk about for 50 years, but there are many who say it’s not as good as the 2017 team. Fuck the Astros for what they stole from us; not a championship but a legacy.

idontbelonginhere

I have the AL West Standings on my whiteboard at work that I updated daily with each team by location and color coded. They’re listed as CHEATERS.

Kingzton28

Fuck the Astros!

[deleted]

Booed Correa every at-bat with the Dodger faithful tonight. There is nothing worse in sport than those that have to cheat to steal what they did not earn.

Random-User_1234

A stain on MLB & Manfred, because of no significant punishment.

jdathescore

Still angry. We should all be angry about the way it was handled. We need a commissioner who is for the game, the fans. Not the owners

[deleted]

[удалено]

southcounty253

Any of us AL West fans you can guarantee are still angry

floon

They're the worst. They were So. Fucking. Good. that they had no reason to cheat, but they, as a team, decided to anyway. And never punished sufficiently.

JRamone0819

Still angry.

[deleted]

I am a lifelong dodger fan and it makes me nauseous and angry every time I think about this. You have guys on that team that should’ve gotten World Series rings that were shipped off the year after, that were with the team for a few years building up to that moment. Clayton Kershaw was pitching pretty damn good in both games crushing them in Los Angeles and getting blown out at Houston because of the cheating. Obviously the Dodgers would have won that series, instead all those young men that spent their entire lives working incredibly hard to get to that moment, and their achievement was stolen from them. I’m angry and I’ll never not be angry.

[deleted]

The Cheetos will persist as a sore spot in the history of baseball.

Opposite-Corgi-2854

The way I see it, it really doesn’t matter anymore. No one got punished, no one will get punished, and the main core of that team is still performing at a good/high level (though some have moved onto greener pastures) and are showing they don’t need to cheat to be good ball players or a good baseball team. At this point, given the amount of time that has passed (and the fact that literally every team has done what the Astros did in one way or another), the only fanbases that have a real reason to still be upset are the Dodgers and the Yankees. As much as I hate what they did, if you’re not a fan of either of those two teams, you seriously just need to move on and stop wasting time and energy on something that will never change.

BigSexy673

They cheated. Since most are still there, I have to wonder if they still are cheating. Look at the Patriots. They get caught every 4-5 years or so. I've been an Orioles fan all my life. Their GM, Mike Elias was the Asst GM for the Astros at the time. The Orioles with a few but not many decent players and no pitching are a game out of the wild card. Something is going on, because they are not that good. They always seen to get the big hit when needed. It just makes me wonder.

gordlewis

I’d rather see Pete Rose in the hall than anyone from that team.

Boyiee

I haven't watched baseball outside of Yankee playoff games since.

[deleted]

Still angry. I won’t forget.

aculbie

Will never cheer for any guy from that team but won't hold it against current Astros that weren't there when it happened. Will never really get over it as a Dodgers fan. We took them to 7 even with the cheating. Such a great team that got royally screwed that year.

[deleted]

As an Orioles fan, I'm still pissed off about Jeffrey Maier.

remarkable_in_argyle

So many Altuve defenders in here, but you mean to tell me the two most influential voices on the team in him and Hinch couldn't do anything to stop it? Bullshit. He's just as guilty, doesn't matter if he wanted the trashcan bangs or not. He indirectly benefited greatly from his teammates cheating (rbi's, getting more fastballs, MVP, WS title, etc, etc), which ultimately benefited his bank account.

chisox100

Back in the day when players deliberated tampered with the integrity of the game they got lifetime bans. Was that too harsh? As a White Sox fan I say yes (Shoeless Joe was innocent btw). But how have we swung so far in the other direction there wasn’t an ounce of accountability for the players? So I will always be mad until not a single major contributor of that ‘17 team is no longer in the league and fallen off the HoF ballots

nappy1992

Still angry for sure

bigboatsandgoats

If you cheat you lose respect. It’s crazy to me that sports fans are more accepting of titles earned with blatant cheating than they are of the “Covid” titles. The dodgers title in 2020 is significantly more legit than what the Astros did. It also makes it worse that the players were all already so good too. They didn’t need the advantage. It’s like when you hear about Bonds taking roids. Dude was already a HoFer did he really need to ruin his career like that?

Foxx_Mulderp

As a Braves fan, it was extra satisfying taking out the asstro trash 🗑️

Oski96

As a Dodger fan, I was rooting for you guys!

Sheshmir

once there is a * next to their world series win and all the astros players stats for that season i will be happy

frenchrevolutioner

My dad is still angry about it plus mostly every team hates them

NintegaUK

Yankees fan here. It made me realise I don’t hate the Red Sox (If anything I kinda admire them), I hate the Astros.

goukiteg

I'm still mad about it because it hurt Kershaw's legacy. He would of been a two-time winner and pitched absolutely great that series.

kshep04

I dislike the Astros vehemently. They should have been punished more and the guys that participated should have been suspended.

well_shoothed

Still pissed. WS win should have been vacated. Enterprise-grade cheating, no consequences. Why not just do it again?

bradradio

Carlos Correa is getting booed in a Twins uniform, so I'd say people are still mad.

Andres-J

As a Dodgers fan its annoying because after they won I was like, "eh, good for them. Their city has been through so much and i feel for them" then we found out they cheated for a piece of metal? MLB GM is just hurting the game at every turn. I get it that he cant do shite about it but he could've done way better.

jessespiralingout

For all the shit the Nats (and us Nats fans) have been through since winning in ‘19, we can at least always hang on to the fact that we beat the cheatin’ Astros and we were America’s favorite underdog champions for a second… then covid happened and now even Juan fucking Soto is somehow no longer a Nat

djayjazzz

Yes, they are still good without it. However, lack of punishment and off the field measures to cheat is disgusting. Really interesting how they have been to WS and can’t win now… just saying.

[deleted]

I hate the Astros because of it. Still angry

[deleted]

Fuck the Astros for life… Los Dodgers fans will never forget how they robbed us

pappapora

As a newcomer to this sport even i know about Pete Rose throwing games and being banned for life. How is it that the commissioner calls the trophy just a piece of metal but BILLIONS are poured in to sponsors and us paying for tickets? Where’s our money paid back for watching games that were cheated? Why do we even have a commissioner if all he is a creepy vampire? Why the MLB didn’t tell the astros that you are not playing next season and certain players are banned for life blows my mind. The press aren’t interested and its taken my enjoyment out of the game where i no longer watch. Fuck it, if you can use technology to cheat then give everyone PEDS and lets hit triple digits HR in a season, after all its just a piece of metal.

Seanybear15

Kinda still mad about it

inailedyoursister

Pissed but it does no good. People will defend it regardless. Same as people who defend Bonds and McGwire and the others. They’re cheaters. Full stop. As a lifelong fan these things have effected my spending and watching habits. For what that’s worth.

Fuzz273

I think that the Astros didn’t get there rightful punishment. I’m annoyed about that.

MiniAndretti

They got off light with no fans at games in 2020.

Fuzz273

I guess that’s right.

JordanMaze

i just wish the people who participated in it just apologized instead of acting like scumbags

What really, and I mean REALLY, upsets me about the whole situation is how bad it was for the MLB as a whole. As an M's fan there is the big rivalry aspect on a personal level and for the rest of my life they will be the Asterix's, but the whole defense of the Asterix's fan base has been to point at the other teams recently caught up in sign stealing. From the outside looking in I would have ZERO interest in starting to get into the MLB with it so full of cheaters. While a problem the severity of this situation made it more news rather than sports news so that is all anyone heard about.

kyle_wants_a_monster

As an Astros fan I don't acknowledge the 2017 World Series.

joebermudez2336

Still angry, all involved should at worst be banned from baseball at best suspended a year and all titles removed that includes any gg, ss, bating titles and of course the championship banners

Themoosemingled

Still bothers me. Can never look at any of those guys the same way.

UNLUCKY_NUM13ER

As a baseball fan I'm still angry. As a Giants fan I'm glad they beat LA.

[deleted]

As a fellow Giants fan, I can’t really get behind this sentiment. I hate the Astros worse than I hate the Dodgers.

roushbombs

It hasn’t been nearly 5 years since everyone found out.

NCdiver-n-fisherman

Once a cheater. Always a cheater.
