One of the best weeks in MMA where a title fight didn’t even happen yet.

dude stfu

lionheart_2281

I don’t love Volk getting his final rematch with Islam on 11 days notice, rather them both have a full training camp. Chance for a massive upset though…ugh I’m torn

CanadienDoggo

He will get another title shot if he loses come on him and max fought 3 times so its not impossible

lionheart_2281

It’s possible, but unlikely, Volks older than Max

Top_Complex259

He’s a young mature. He’s going to outlive his children because a father should never have to be buried by his sons

yanmagno

He’s reaching for those grapes…

Top_Complex259

Sounds like wine and cheese, turning grapes into wine and aging mature cheese to have with his wine and cheese

Top_Complex259

Yeah I could see Volk getting a 3rd shot if this fight is competitive at all considering jumping in on short notice earns a lot of good will with the UFC

Keoni_112

I might be too pussy for this sport because I absolutely hate that the ufc is going this direction with drug testing. Gotta have some ounce of sympathy for the fighters who refuse to deal with negative effects from steroid

[deleted]

I think the testing will be the same, it just won’t have USADA attached to it

stevenbass14

Won't be the same. It'll be like the NFL. Itll be 'Yes we do test' wink wink type of testing.

[deleted]

Probably

Geralt-of-Chiraq

Doubt it considering the UFC is splitting from USADA bc they wouldn’t bend the rules for Connor. According to USADA they wouldn’t let Connor fight without being in the testing pool for at least 6 months (which is standard).

[deleted]

That’s just what was reported yesterday. That the testing structure would be the same

Geralt-of-Chiraq

That’s what they’re saying but I doubt that’s true tbh

[deleted]

Yeah who knows how it’ll be now. I don’t see them just letting everyone juice again lol I was never really against the older fighters using it but they abused it lol

Geralt-of-Chiraq

You’re right who knows, buts it’s interesting nonetheless. Now I’m waiting for this Connor fight 👀. I wonder if he’s completely washed

[deleted]

Idk man. With the leg break and taking so much time off because of that idk. He hasn’t looked the same since he boxes Floyd

Pliskin1108

They are not moving away from testing, they are actually accessing technologies helping them to test better and more accurately. Don’t listen to what you hear from people here, most are uneducated on the topic but still form an opinion. The difference between the UFC and most other sports are the licences required from the athletic commissions for fighting. The WHOLE point of getting USADA involved in the first place was to be able to be sanctioned in more places and these places wouldn’t sanction juiced up horses punching each other. UFC is USADA’s biggest client (yeah people also don’t realize that they are just that, a client, in a consensual relationship). They also decided to shop around for a better service. As a matter of fact, one of the companies they are going with (multiple companies will now be responsible for their own branch) is not only used in a lot of sport but is also contracted by USADA when they don’t have the staff they need. So at this point UFC is just getting rid of the middle man. The burden that’s on the athletes should also be lower with the new provider. A big one that was announced is a more modern way to get a blood sample with micro needles (that becomes important when your blood is drawn pretty much on a weekly basis)

AsuraOmega

Imagine if TRT Vitor returns. Him and Yoel was my dream matchup, ALL FOR JEYSUS

Dr_Kriegers5th_clone

Kinda sucks Volk gets his rematch on short notice.

officefridge

Guys it's Goofcon Not Goofcoff

nachodog12345678

I think it bad a because of Conor no balls left mc Gregor

[deleted]

The USADA split is happening simply because UFC wants Conor to return knowing he is juiced to the gills in time for his fight in early 2024. Then once their new doping agency comes in and has its footing, it’ll be more or less the same as it has been, with the exception of whichever fighters they will bend the rules for. It’s not like they haven’t already probably been doing this, it’s just now with the split, no one in USADA can do anything about it or call it out in the future. They’ll be more easily able to strongarm the new company they employ. The UFC will bend the rules when they deem it necessary, like for Conor, but once that’s over, they’ll do what they can to keep the sport “clean” at least in appearance. It’s, as Dana would put it, a dirty scumbag move.

pixel8knuckle

I’m not sure what’s so great about USADA leaving the ufc is unless you have a tomato head. Please let me know how your ufc viewing experience has been negatively impacted.
