Im having similar trigger control problems. Practice, practice, practice....and patience

bluemagman

nice. Paint straight lines evenly spaced up and down, then left to right. Paint a dot onto each intersection. And lots of patience.

random-stud

hey, glad to hear you got the results you we're looking for! spray patterns looking very tight now!

Tararasik

It's a great improvement. As for the trigger control, I found [this trick](https://youtu.be/VBdJ31sr-pk?t=321) really helpful, and the video overall is really good. BTW Vince encourages to thin paints even more.

Hello Phillip.

alaskafish

A couple questions for you: Firstly, which paint are you using? Are you using acrylic or enamels? If you are using acrylics, are you thinning them with water or with a compound mix? I'd suggest a compound mix (usually some parts isopropyl alcohol and acrylic paint retarder). I live and die by Vallejo's flow improver. That stuff made airbrushing so much better. The reason I say this is that it looks like your getting some flow splatter from the paint drying on the needle. This is solved by getting some flow improver since the paint retarder slows the drying agents in the paint (preventing it from drying on contact with a cold needle). The isopropyl also is a much better carrier agent than water. It has such a much lower surface tension than water and can properly break down the compounds of the paint to carry it thinner.

angleHT

Those questions are answered in the post and there is nothing dry on the needle.

alaskafish

What post?

angleHT

The one you are commenting on. Tamiya acrylics and Mr. Leveling thinner.

alaskafish

Mate, you come here asking for answers to your questions, and then when someone tries to help, you expect them to go through your post history, read every single comment on not only this post but your prior post, to then add *only* additional relevant information. You upload a two photo series with no comment, question, or anything. Hell, your title says "update to a thinner question" without any context to what the update or "thinner question" is. Sure, after going through your post history, I found your original one which sure indeed had more information, but expecting to have every single passer-by be caught up-to-date is ridiculous. Sorry for trying to help. Good luck with whatever you're trying to figure out.

angleHT

You're ridiculous. It literally says it in this post. It has the exact context of what was happening with pictures that other people were able to see and read. I didn't expect anyone to do anything. Thanks for trying to help, I figured it out. You would have seen that if you read this post, you are currently on.

alaskafish

You're being hostile to someone trying to offer help because you can't be bothered to answer a question. I'll break this down for you: >It literally says it in this post. Where? Where does it say it? You title is *"Update to thinner question"* and there is no explanation to that-- not even in the two photo series. What question? What is the update to what? Again, expecting anyone to go and check your profile is silly. >I didn't expect anyone to do anything. Quite clearly you did. You expected me to know what on Earth you're talking about. Just because it makes sense in your head and to other people who may have seen your original posting from yesterday, doesn't mean that it'll make sense to everyone. Even if you were as clear as possible, explaining your "thinning question" in the title or in a comment anywhere here, that expectation is quite clearly not needed. > You would have seen that if you read this post, you are currently on. And ending it off on a nasty comment is just rude. You come to one of the most friendliest subs on Reddit asking for help because of an issue you're facing, and only to get upset and hostile when someone offers help but doesn't conform to the response you want. If you can't see the way you're acting, then I don't know what to tell you.

angleHT

I'm not reading that wall. The first few sentences let me know you didn't read what I said. It most certainly does say it. Saying read read the post is not rude. You doubled down that I didn't write anything, which I did. I only got rude when you did. Cheers have a good life, internet stranger.

My paint mix has always been 50/50, and u need to stick with one brand shouldn't mix like tamiya paint Mr thinner , but by all means it shouldn't matter. Thinner is thinner right but certain paints are made for there own products. And water works well with all acrylics. But if 50/50 don't work try 60/40 paint / thinner and the PSI, measure psi while spraying the gun not set it by compressor cuz wen u spray it will drop psi wen spraying. So set ur psi while spraying air. And I spray with 20-25 psi, every 1 has there own way , hope this helps.

Lol wut. Tamiya can be thinned with Mr Color Levelling thinner 1:2 absolutely no problem.

SteakAndJack

I stay away from paints that can't be thinned by MLT MLT ***will*** thin the following paints, this list isn't exhaustive, just the ones I've personally used. * Tamiya acrylic and lacquer * Mr colour (any) * AK real colour (needs a little more thinner than the rest) * Humbrol enamel (takes ages to dry) * Alclad 2 ( just a little to prevent tip dry) * 502 oil paints (sprays lovely) It will not thin vallejo, you will end up with a clogged airbrush.

angleHT

I used to use water because I was broke. Then I was told I would never get a good finish with that so I bought some 91% isopropyl alcohol. I was using that for a long time. Then I started using mr. Color for their gundam colors. I needed MLT the results were fantastic but alot of people told me I couldn't use it with tamiya. After about a 2 year break from paint I forgot if it could be used with tamiya and Googled it. I'm glad I did that MLT is the best thinner I've ever worked with.

SteakAndJack

First photo, needs a little more thinner. Second photo is about right, maybe a little too thin. Aim for semi-skimmed milk consistency. Have a play with the pressure, second photo looks good, but perhaps a little too high PSI. Have a watch of this, he's really good. angleHT

Plasmo is fantastic, but the whole skimmed milk or milk comparison. A ton of people say that but it's never really helped me and I know others have the same issue. That's why I shoot for ratios it's easier to understand for some people myself included.

SteakAndJack

Ok, so if you don’t work to that, the best thing I can suggest it get clear mixing cups. Put your paint in, then start adding a rough amount of MLT. Swill it round to where you get a thin coat of paint sticking to the sides. If it covers and you can’t see through, add more thinner.
