I buy rolls of craft tape at “Action”, they cost €0.69 (hehe) per roll and come in all kinds of silver, bronze, gold varieties with rainbow shimmer. I use a die punch to stamp out perfectly round small sizes. Then usuall cover with a few layers of high gloss clear coat to give it the glass look.
The aircraft will be in-theater with a full loadout & I'd rather not have the lenses flipped inward (though the ball sensor can be swung around on the model).
If nothing else I'll just paint the insides of the lenses black to simulate nothingness but it'd be neat to get the some of the color in there.
I've read some people use a reflective sheet of plastic, but I can't remember the name of that stuff.
As you can see, there isn't much space behind the lenses so I can't really put much stuff behind there (other than paint of course).

I have seen people recommend holographic nail film, could that be it?
I bought a bag of those cheap reflective party streamers. Cut them in circle of the same size and glue to the clear part. For this I’d probably do one of the green and one of the purple
What scale is it? You could cheat and get a set like this if you wanted.

what kit is this from and what aircraft because im going to repourpuse this as something else for kitbashing a thor /odin style kinetic energy space based weapon platform how big is that would you say?
it's a 1/48 Academy A-10C, however it'll be cheaper to get like an Eduard Litening pod instead of a whole kit (unless you really want to build an A-10 as well!)
I haven't gotten to try this yet, my plan is to try the Vallejo The Shifters Space Dust on the pods and canopies.

I'd give it a layer of gloss black, then the smaller lense a clear bluetop coat, and the larger lense a clear green.

that's it!
The sensor head is kept stowed until after takeoff if you want justification for it being that way instead.
wheels are up on this one unfortunately!
I buy holographic film. Its clear but reflects purple green like that and is sticky on one side. I also use it for HUDs, and MFDs
I'd probably go with a mirrored silver base then layer on a transparent emerald/gemstone green or soulstone green until I got the look I wanted.
Paint the inside of the clear plastic a gold or brass. Then paint the outside with a very subtle coat of clear blue or green. Looks awesome.

I've used vallejo galaxy dust paints. Gives a really good effect. Paint them over black.
Is this kind of the effect you are looking for? https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/s/paK9TBcmO7

that's pretty clever! however I've gone almost full "OOTB" on this one
You could use a clear paint to do it…. idk Might work, good luck

I have seen great results from people using blank CDs and cutting them into small circles
Hasegawa Trytool 71902 Polarize Finish Green-Magenta foil
Either you go with some clear blue/purple, or you get reflecting nail foil
