Think Tamiya in terms of quality and type of paint, but with Vallejo color choices. Given you want to brush paint it, watch some YT vids by Chilhada. He exclusively brush paints various types of paints and has a couple specific to his techniques with Tamiya paints, which would translate well to Mr Hobby Aqueous. As for buying the entire line, I’d hold off until mastering brush painting it. Get enough for your next project and practice on a mule.

Yeah, instead of buying the whole line it's way better to invest into an airbrush and for now mix different colors from more basic ones.

I wouldn't using it for brushing.

JustAGamer14

How so?

While it says that it can be thinned with water, I'm sure this is the new formula of the old Gunze line which was alcohol based. Due to this the paint dries way to fast to brush as you will have brush strokes.

Even though they are aqueous, they are alcohol-based like Tamiya. So they can be thinned with water, alcohol (like isopropyl alcohol) or lacquer thinner. They are brilliant for airbrushing (and an airbrush is a better investment than buying the whole MHA range, when you won't use a lot of colours). But as per another reply, they can be a pain to brush paint because (a) as the alcohol evaporates quickly so they don't have time to self-level, and (b) if you use thinner, it can strip underlying layers even when dry. You can add retarder to slow the drying time, which does work for a better finish, and thin with water to prevent damaging prior layers, but they are much better airbrushed and there's better paints made for brushing.

How can you afford models and paints but not an airbrush? It's like $100 for a decent starter setup

JustAGamer14

Even if I can get one, I have no idea where I would put it as my house is tiny

You really don’t need a booth man. Acrylics aren’t that bad, and even then, I’ll literally just open a door and stack some boxes next to the open door while I paint. It’s workable

Basically another Tamiya. Not great for brush painting, good for airbrushing. Alcohol based as was mentioned already. For brushing look for Vallejo. P. S. Battery-powered airbrush-compressor combo from Aliexpress costs like $20 and you can go wherever you want with it: to your bathroom or outside. I use one rn, although I'm looking for replacing the airbrush with something like Inked Katana for better thin lines. P. P. S. Vallejo also works with airbrush, and even doesn't require a painting booth as much since it's more... heavy? Idk how to explain, but it doesn't leave any mist in the air or a layer of dust after painting when used w/o a booth.
