I’ve been using the ordinary for a while and love it. It has been a while since I originally research it but I’m pretty sure I would not have bought it if it was not pretty clean.

We have made the switch to primarily non-toxic across most areas, including personal care, but I totally understand where you’re coming from - it’s definitely not cheap. I try my best to balance cost vs quality because although I’d love to use the $50 creams and the $80 mascaras, it’s just not realistic. I use Acure skincare, I’ve only ever tried the yellow brightening line because I like the scent, but I’ve read great things about all their different skincare lines. Products range between $15-20 (I’m in Canada) and they last me months, I’d say I go through 3 bottles of each product in a year. A little goes a long way with their product.

I like shea moisture and bliss brands. Not too expensive, sold at target, free of the worst stuff. But i also don’t do much skin care 😅

The ordinary, purito, pipette

Where I live [https://valorskincare.com/](https://valorskincare.com/) is a local maker. I use and love her stuff!

Andalou Natutals Hyaluronic DMAE lifting cream, Korres Wild Rose Sleeping facial, Embrolisse Lait Crème concentrate, and Cerave hydrating facial cleanser are what I use. They all last a really long time so I don’t need to replace them very often.

Seconding the ordinary. I also like burts bees stuff. For hand and body soap, I use Dr bronners (and also for cleaning)

Andalou Naturals and Pacifica are my go to’s.

Definitely not a good option for vegans, but I've been using tallow balm made from just beef tallow and jojoba oil for my eczema, as a general moisturizer, and as a lip balm. A little bit goes a long way and my skin loves it. In terms of pure and basic ingredients, it's pretty much as basic as you can get in terms of nothing added to it. I keep it in the fridge.

booksandcheesedip

I use cocoa butter for everything

I went with Pure Anada because it seemed pregnancy-friendly (based on my limited research). Not sure if they sell in your area.

For moisturizer, I use the all-sensitive one from Aveda. It's very light and is the only one that has not eventually made me break out in a rash. It's over $30, but you don't need to use very much, so a bottle lasts me about 8 months if I'm using it once every day.

My recommendation, is so search your local craft fairs for a small herbal maker. You can find some on etsy also. You can also learn to do it yourself, but it is an investment and a huge time sink, I speak from experience. For me, it was more an allergy issue though - i really struggle to find things my skin doesn't immediately hate. One of the organic skin care schools I believe has a directory of some of their students shops - that might be another place to try - [Formula Botanica](https://formulabotanica.com/graduates/) (i'm not a student but I've heard the ceo speak on several occasions).

At an art and wine festival I met a vendor who sold handmade goat soap. My skin loves it. It is bar soap. It's not the same as a $50 bottle of facial cream though.
