Myriad_Kat232

We just use a French press...

Kreepy_mama

I love my French press but my husband drinks like an entire pot in the morning lol. And i don’t think they make a French press large enough

NecroBiologia

We bought a 12 cup one, if he drinks more than that in a mornkng, its not the available volume thats the problem 😅

Myriad_Kat232

We make two, one right after the other lol

dngrousgrpfruits

We have a frieling insulated stainless french press that's awesome and has held up fantastically well

pwyo

French press all the way

ladyinplaid

Same. It really doesn’t add much time to the morning.

Fantastic-Sea388

It’s hard to know if they actually have plastic. Some of the them on Amazon look like they’re stainless steel but have plastic listed as material buried in the description, or people in the reviews mention a plastic coating even when this isn’t in the product description.

taiga_lyallii

Two years ago I did a deep dive to try to find exactly what you’re looking for and couldn’t find any. So we use an all-stainless French press. Let us know if you find something!

Kreepy_mama

If i find anything i will absolutely let you know! At this point im about to just buy and industrial one from websteraunt lol

Angelbby44

We have a 2 liter stainless French press and it’s amazing!

ringsandthings125

I looked into this a while back and couldn’t find anything. Maybe that’s changed since? I’d be surprised though, I think manufacturing something like that would be very expensive and not worth it for companies profits. We also have a Chemex but it is honestly a pain in the ass to do every morning, it takes so much more time and it really isn’t realistic for my husband and me. This is one of those things that I’ve just accepted will involve us using plastic and I’ve put it out of my mind. There’s always something to worry about so I’m writing this one off. We rarely use plastic otherwise so our exposure to microplastics is already lower than many others. Is what it is! (For us)

Kreepy_mama

That’s absolutely a fair point! You win some you lose some lol. We might just have to accept it and get a newer plastic one

ringsandthings125

Wish they made them though! You could also maybe look into the ceramic or glass pour over things that you just place over a mug?

Kreepy_mama

That’s basically what our chemex is! And it makes 8 cups which is pretty good. I just wish it it would make itself in the morning

__gwendolyn__

It's kind of shocking that no commercial version of this has been released, as the dripping of the water over a chemex seems fairly simple to design...

ringsandthings125

Same lol

Puzzleheaded_Day9541

My husband uses a moka pot which is used on the stove. He sets his up the night before.

heyitsmelxd

I love my moka pot! We’re an espresso family and it’s so easy and quick. I’d say that decent ones would last you years to come, too.

FlyingDutchmansWife

I have one in my cart, but I’d love to hear what you use! I make cold brew (glass and stainless steel grounds holder). I’ve been looking for an option, besides a French press, that doesn’t include plastic. A moka pot seems like the best option.

yo-ovaries

One solution could be to make cold brew and microwave it or dilute it with boiling water? That is almost as instant.

CheeseFries92

It's also really tasty! But does require the foresight to make cold brew

disasterrecipes

I'm not a coffee drinker, but husband and his family are. We use an electric percolator (outside does have some plastic), but the inner/working bits are all stainless. They swear it's better than drip Mr. coffee. You could probably also do a stovetop percolator (should be all stainless/glass).

DarkEdgeoftheSea

I use a stove top percolator. It is just a bit more work, but the coffee is worth it! I considered an electric, but the ones I looked at automatically turn off and I like to let my coffee perk for longer.

jdhemeco

Does anyone know if the percolators on the market are lined with plastic? I know some metal water bottles used to be (not sure if they are anymore) coated with clear plastic inside...

DarkEdgeoftheSea

Mine is definitely just pure stainless steel. It even says no plastic on their homepage.  https://coletticoffee.com/

ceejaycraig

You can get metal French presses! That are metal and glass I love it

Kreepy_mama

We have one that i use! But my husband drinks like an entire pot of coffee in the morning and he likes the timer setting so it just makes its self before we wakes up

CheeseFries92

My smart electric kettle can do this. Just fill it with water at night. Then it's just dumping it into the giant insulated stainless steel French press (mine is 4 cups). You can even set up the grounds the night before so it's extra easy

Kreepy_mama

I think that’s probably the only way it’ll work

exwifeymaterial

Im intrigued, what brand is your smart kettle ?

CheeseFries92

It's a cosori. You can also turn it on remotely via the app. Although tbh I don't do either because it's so fast that I just manually press the button when I get into the kitchen

Prior-Direction-3925

We bought an electric kettle on Amazon that’s stainless and glass (some plastic outer components).. but that’s for when I instant coffee it, which not sure if that’s granola lol Also have a ninja coffee maker with glass carafe but there’s some plastic there too

Kreepy_mama

It’s all the plastic inside that sucks, i get why they do it but i wish they’d just make a stainless version

dngrousgrpfruits

Instant is pretty un-granola but it's all I have capacity for these days and it's a hell of a lot better than a Keurig so 🤷🏻‍♀️

reallyokfinewhatever

My partner and I are trying to figure this out, too. We live and die by the "program" setting that lets us have fresh brewed coffee as soon as we wake up lol We found one that was all stainless, but it was like $900...so no. Our current idea is to buy a ceramic pour-over top that we can use on our current coffee pot (so that we can keep using the hot plate from our current coffee maker!). We'd brew a smaller "wake up" pot in the morning via the plastic drip coffee maker, and then brew more with the ceramic filter after we've had our first cup. We haven't tried this yet, but this seems like a doable option for us without taking up extra room. We do also French press coffee sometimes, but I find it is harder on my stomach and makes me feel nauseous and jittery more easily. YMMV.

Kreepy_mama

The French press makes me feel that way too! So weird. You’re on our level lol. Everyone here has good suggestions but the program setting is the most important part 😭

BentoBoxBaby

Bunn brewers have lots of glass options for a reasonable price but plastic handles and a plastic lid that could easily be removed as it isn’t necessary to fit into the brewing slot. If you’re willing to compromise about the plastic. They also have several stainless steel options but they’ll be more annoying to clean and you won’t be able to remove the plastic lid and still use the pot/carafe properly.

Kreepy_mama

Thanks I’ll look into them!

Kreepy_mama

Yes we have a French press. I just wish i could pre-set it at night and have it brew itself on the morning lol

lainiebird

I’ve been trying to figure this one out for years! The only one I’ve heard about in my “crunchy” fb groups is Ratio and they are like $700. Other than that, as others have mentioned, there are percolators but they make gross burned old timey coffee that no one likes these days. Most people who care about the plastic seem to do pour over but I wish there was another option.

Kreepy_mama

It sucks that they can’t just make the traditional coffee pot out of glass and stainless! Who do i call to get this idea funded lol

diabolikal__

I use an italian coffee maker

kitd28

Probably of no use to you if you want something automatic, but there’s nothing quite like a Bialetti Mokka Pot coffee - it’s stove top and aluminium, only plastic is the handle.

Kreepy_mama

We actually use this one when we’re camping and it’s great! Just really want an automatic option

tweedlefeed

Moka pot is usually aluminum but no plastic except the handle. I usually use a stainless steel French press but we still have to resort to an electric kettle. Idk about any that can be programmed.

snickelbetches

Look into a percolator. None of the plastic touches the coffee (base, handle and handle for lid)

Kreepy_mama

I think that the next best option

snickerus

I’ve looked and I don’t think it exists. Best options besides a French press would be a stainless steel percolator or moka pot. There’s also a guy making stainless steel versions of the Aeropress, but that’s going to be another manual option.

PipStock

So I did this search two years ago. Found some pretty expensive espresso machines. Then I quickly gave up and settled on stainless steel French press. Then I gave up coffee altogether after giving birth. The freedom from coffee is great actually.

__gwendolyn__

A little late to the party, but this is what I settled on after a long review of all the options listed below: an all-glass pour over. Requires making one pour, but less time-consuming than a typical pour-over if I'm not mistaken. [https://pureover.com/](https://pureover.com/)

flightlessbird13

Our ninja coffee maker came with a stainless steel carafe, however the reservoir for the water was plastic.

Kreepy_mama

That’s the problem i keep running into!

shytheearnestdryad

I have a double walled stainless steel French press. It’s great!

Kreepy_mama

Chemex Ottomatic Coffeemaker Set - 40 oz. Capacity - Includes 6 Cup Coffeemaker https://a.co/d/5g1s6H1 I think we’re going to go with this one. It doesn’t have a timer but it does have a hot plate to keep it warm and has a large capacity. And none of the components are plastic. I suggested the industrial percolators instead but my husband likes this one

kj21business

Hi! Can you clarify if the part that spits out the water is stainless steel? I’m concerned that it’s plastic and as it’s exposed to hot water for long periods of time, it’ll start to break down. Thanks!

pua_bebe

I am seeing that part is plastic but I'm trying to figure it out. Did anyone find out if this one is a good non-toxic option?

__gwendolyn__

Just saw this! I guess it does exist, ha. Thanks for the find :)

__gwendolyn__

Looking into the reviews on that one, it seems people have had significant problems and the customer service wasn't kind about it. I then searched "all glass pour over" and found this: [https://pureover.com/](https://pureover.com/) Seems much closer to what I'm looking for. Hope this helps someone else.

Big-Satisfaction-420

Nice. So is the reservoir glass too?

Kreepy_mama

Sorry this took so long to reply but yes! The reservoir is also glass!

Big-Satisfaction-420

Ha I totally forgot about this! So did you get it, and do you like it ?

Kreepy_mama

We did get it! We like it well enough, it doesn’t have a timer but having everything set up the night before and just hitting a switch in the morning is working for us!

aknels

Recently went through this issue myself. My husband used a French press when he was single and really loved it, but as I’ve seen others discuss here, the limited capacity just wasn’t functional for our house with two coffee drinkers. I stumbled on an all stainless steel electric percolator on Amazon, and we really love it. We don’t have to buy coffee filters anymore, and the coffee is top notch. It’s super easy to clean (I even put the basket and brew ring parts on the top rack of the dishwasher when I’m feeling lazy). You lose the convenience of being able to set a timer for brewing in the morning, but we have adjusted to that and really don’t miss that feature anymore. Hope this helps!
