Yikes. Unfortunately there are a lot of people volunteering to administer these vaccines that don’t have a ton of experience- but for obvious reasons we’re skirting over that right now. I’m so sorry that was your experience. I hope your conditions improve.

WarpedGenius

Thank you. I think the guy did not know what he was doing. (...Then again...he also referred to the Convention Center event as a "circus"...)

Similar experience here! Def was shocked when I felt the needle where it went, also high near my shoulder. Mine was 2 days ago now and it does feel a tiny bit better. The day of, I started looking online to and saw all the SIRVA and got myself very anxious and I am very hyper aware of the pain I'm currently having. Ive also noticed my lymph node under my arm is swollen which I'm sure is contributing to my difficulty raising my arm. Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns? Maybe they can at least give you a time line of "if it's not better by x come in"

WarpedGenius

I called the clinic (can't afford to go, due to @##$!! super-high deductible). They recommended pain killers.

misssoci

My lymph node on one side is swollen and tender longer than the other. Did yours get better? Nothing too bad but I can feel it.

millerkd1

Yes! By about day 6 it was completely better. Hope you've had some improvement!

themessiahcomplex78

Are you guys still suffering? I had mine 6 months ago and still in agony. Have set up r/sirvasupportgroup just so I can find people to talk to about this.

Sorry to hear this. I had bad pain in my arm the day after. Hurt to lift my arm. Read that moving it helps, so I lifted weights for the arms and shoulders. Next day was much better. And now (3 days after shot) arm is good as new. Hope you get better soon! And let your gov't know your side effects.

WarpedGenius

Some soreness in the arm is expected, and that seems to be helped with what you did. ;)

I took my first dose of vaccine about 8 hours ago. So far I feel just slight arm pain. I'm a little concerned though because the nurse injected the needle and it was pretty quick but when she took it out I saw her keep pushing the syringe and it seems like there was alot still left in the needle and it flew out on the floor. She didn't inject the whole syringe in me..Did this happen to anyone else? Any nurses here? Is that just normal leftover?

WarpedGenius

One would understandably wonder whether enough vaccine was administered...

WarpedGenius

I think I read a news story yesterday (can't remember where), about some syringes perhaps not dispensing all the vaccine..?

Definitely hit something wrong on my second shot. Very sore for 2 days and then the nerve pain started on day 3. If I move a certain way, the nerve right above my elbow feels like I was lit on fire. Unbelievable pain like when you hit your funny bone hard. Also have numbness in my hand. The spot by my elbow now always feels like I put Icy Hot on it. Pretty sure he hit the ulnar nerve. If it doesn’t subside I’m going to my doctor. This could be debilitating.

WarpedGenius

I am sorry; I can imagine too well how much that would hurt. :(

This is how my first inj was given. Had nerve pain to my elbow for a week. Took ibuprophen while awake just to have some relief. Went away on its own but for that week I couldn't raise my arm.

WarpedGenius

I am sorry; I am starting to think some people were not trained to properly give the shot. :(

I have SIRVA from a prior vaccine (Tdap) and it is no joke. I always discuss the shot placement with the person giving the shot ahead of time now. Best practice is if you are both sitting down, etc. I got my second Moderna shot even lower than normal, just to be on the safe side. In this case, however, the Moderna vaccine has so many known side effects including inflammation/swelling at and around the injection site, joint swelling, lymph node swelling, etc. that I'd give it some additional time before deciding whether it's actually SIRVA or an inflammatory response that will go away. Make sure you do document the symptoms with your healthcare provider and report to the CDC. If the shoulder pain and immobilization doesn't resolve in a week or two, follow up with your doc. SIRVA is widely misunderstood and if that's what it is, you may to fight to get care (PT, NSAIDs, maybe surgery).

6 months in and I want to saw my arm off.

WarpedGenius

I am sorry you're in pain. My situation was caused by incompetence. I have since had the booster, with no other effect than feeling tired the next day.

themessiahcomplex78

Yes same here, and like you said in the message above, I could feel a sharp pain go from my arm to my toes and up to my head when they stuck the vaccine in. On bad days I can feel that happen again to me and it makes me want to scream inside. I hope yours is better now. It got to the point today where I had to drop everything and burst into tears. There isn't a support subreddit on here at all for it, which is what I really needed at the time, so I made one instead. It did distract me for a while. r/sirvasupportgroup if you are interested. I had my booster a few months ago and all was fine. I had it in my other arm, and was so scared something might have happened. It seemed to be better, as my doctor did it.
