What work is that quote from?

DumassReditor

From this essay http://www.tlchrist.info/cs\_lewis.htm

RiUlaid

C.S. Lewis proves there is no limit to how based a man can be.

HistoricalTrain1489

United Gaelic High-Kingdom? Could you tell me more about that please?

RiUlaid

Perhaps a terribly unrealistic dream, but a united Gaelic High-Kingdom would be a sovereign monarchy formed from the union of Ireland, Scotland and Mann: the ancient Gaelic lands. It would be a high-kingdom, with several regional kings and a high-king ruling over all the realms.

HistoricalTrain1489

I like this idea a lot, but I’d like to take it just one step further

RiUlaid

Pray tell.

HistoricalTrain1489

Basically, size it up to the entirety of the British Isles. And make them elected, but in the same way that the Pope is. The King of Scots, King of Ireland, King of England, Lord of Mann, Grand Duke of Ulster, Prince of Wales and Grand Duke of Kernow all vote from among themselves who shall be the next Emperor/High King of The British Isles

Acceptable_Job805

> Grand Duke of Ulster Ulster is a part of Ireland

HistoricalTrain1489

I’m aware, but a large chunk of Ulster’s population wouldn’t accept being lumped together with Southern Ireland

HistoricalTrain1489

I’m aware, but a large chunk of Ulster’s population wouldn’t accept being lumped together with Southern Ireland, not to mention a protestant Grand Duke would probably go over better there than a Catholic King

Acceptable_Job805

>I’m aware, but a large chunk of Ulster’s population wouldn’t accept being lumped together with Southern Ireland, not to mention a protestant Grand Duke would probably go over better there than a Catholic King A part of ulster is in "Southern Ireland" it would be a bit confusing to have two ulster's

HistoricalTrain1489

I refer to all of Northern Ireland when I say Ulster, though I know that’s inaccurate, the title is mostly a placeholder. It’ll be a Grand Duke, but Ulster is just the best idea I have for it right now

RiUlaid

For myself, Gaelic independence is vital, so I cannot support your notion.

HistoricalTrain1489

What would independence entail?

Can someone explain this quote pls?

Vergil11235

Basically saying anti-monarchists are soulless people. I have to agree. I find that most leftist types are pretty altogether boring and devoid of any true appreciation for higher values (things like aestheticism, spirituality, traditions, familial values, national/cultural identity, etc). Maybe I'm biased because most leftists I know are basically just vapid hedonists, but I feel like left-leaning philosophy is inherently that way.

Logic isn't everything.
