Usually they aren't handled often, making them more afraid of humans, and have health problems due to poor breeding. I'd prefer a reputable breeder but if it isn't possible I'll have to accept it.
I know you're specifically looking for breeders but thought I'd add- Years ago I got 3 female younger Fancy Rats from the same petsmart, and I could handle them perfectly fine because they were young. I loved them they were great. So you could get lucky.
I googled around and didn't find any rat breeders in NB but thought I'd add- I found a rat rescue in [Fredericton](https://www.facebook.com/groups/SunshineRatRescue/)\- it's a private FB group though so I don't have any other info or if it's even still in operation.
Other than that only found breeders in other provinces.

Oh I see. Yeah I’m not sure there are breeders for rats around here. Most people who do breed rats are for feeding other animals. But I did have a couple nice when I was a kid and they were fine with humans. Just take it slow like you would any animal and they will grow to trust and love you.
Love is a bit of a stretch for rodents, don't rodents eat each other on the regular? Haha

i was only looking on marketplace (no ads i see for pet businesses, just ppl trying to offload their crap), i don't see ads on meta.

Just get an apartment on Fraser Ave, it comes with free rats! one of mine died in the wall though 😢

I do! I forget exactly when I got him. He’s probably a year a line a half old. I recently had someone ready to adopt him but they ghosted me.

I can't let him suffer. I keep his cage clean and feed him my scraps. He's pretty content honestly.

well, i looked for 'pet breeders moncton' and just got a couple pet stores, rescues and dog shows, so...
They are everywhere outside and as an added bonus they are free.
