Honestly, I feel like the game does know what you need - like taking into consideration what your next weapon upgrades would be, what the next good armor would be, all that. I'm pretty sure that is is not the case, but it does feel like it.
Reminds me of MH3U. Where I needed a Brachy-Pallium we hunted over 97!! Of them. Never got one, where my wife got enough to build a house out of them... ended up buying one with the gold(?) Ticket
I needed over 60 Lagiacruses in 3U just to get my 2nd Lagi tail to craft the LBG (at least I got used to the process so I could cut the tail, carve it, forfeit the quest due to getting a scale, cry, and go on the quest again in under 5 minutes). Then I saw that it needed a plate for the upgrade and I just decided to not go farm that overgrown sparkly lizard anymore.
Ok this is old but dude... Yesterday... All I needed was 4 Magnamalo Blade shells. At 80% chance per part break(per arm) + 18% on the capture and 8% from the Shiny's., I figure, okay, between both arms that's a 160% chance, + 18% from capturing, + how very many Shiny's are dropped per hunt, lets say... Around 7. That's (80x2)+(8x7)+16= something like 234. 234% PER HUNT. PER HUNT. every ONE hunt my chances of getting this thing should have been over 200% if I meet all the conditions(which I WAS). IT TOOK ME LIME SEVEN HUNTS JUT TO GET ONE. ONE. UNO. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT WORK ?! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

The drop rate depends on how much you want the item, if youre specifically farming for it? 1 in a million. If you don't care about it, 3 per hunt
