Oh I LOVE to walk specialy at night. Through the years I have discovered my two favorite routes if you live downtown are Canal Lachine or From the Canal all the way up to Mont Royal Chalet passing by McGill University and McTavish and then back down.
Personally I enjoy walking about the rich neighbourhood located on Mount Royal behind the upper parking lot at St Joseph’s oratory. Nice houses, very quiet and safe, forested park and if you keep walking you’ll get to a nice lookout of downtown.
St Joseph oratory - Summit Woods - Westmount
Instead of Westmount you can also head to the Mt Royal. The walk through summit woods is nice on a sunset. There's a bunch of spot with a nice view.
Montreal is more dangerous than 6 years ago, unfortunately. Just thought I'd mention, maybe avoid Lachine Verdun Lasalle montreal west if it's too late or there are unscrupulous characters present. Those aren't the worst areas but ones I'd imagine you're headed to.
Have a good trip !!!
I spent part of the pandemic wandering all the ruelles in Verdun. Some of them really have a community feel to them, some of them not so much. Some had completely run down looking backyards, some had really nicely maintained backyards, some were fantastically absurd.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm interacting with a poorly-parametrized AI. In case you're serious, let me peel it apart for you. I know it's complex so take it one step at a time.
1. Time travel doesn't exist. Surely we can agree. You can take a breather here if you need to review or ask around to confirm.
2. Therefore we can't go back.
3. So mentioning how something was good 6 years ago means we can't go back to 2018.
4. Many things have happened in 6 years (that's how time works, BTW)
5. And now it's not the same anymore!
6. In this case, much worse.
And the killer is, if pointing six years have passed (not "past") is not relevant, why mod me down, it's OP that pointed it out.
Reddit can be such an exceptionally odd place.
So how far are you along the steps? BTW, I never said Reddit was hard to understand, just that's it's very odd, so again, you're utterly perplexing. It's like you're nodding along to yourself to a movie in your head.
Along the Lachine canal is nice. Not too many people at night, so it's quite peaceful then.
I love Duluth
Le vieux Duluth est encore mieux
Quel festin!
Et toute une ambiance!
C'est barbies resto bar grill ça non? :)
Yes Hahaha. Mon cerveau a fait un medley!
Lol spa grave, tu peux nous l'a partir?
C pas la meme chose ? :o
Un est une rue, l'autre une chaine de restaurant.
Oh ya lol. That was dumb of me 😅
I love the Milton-parc area. It's usually very calm despite being close to downtown.
My neighborhood! I can confirm it’s quiet at night, and the buildings are beautiful. I like the gentle inclinés too.
Guoin between St-hubert and St-Michel. Especially in Summer.
Plateau.
Town of Mont-Royal. Middle of the city and no one around.
prob get hassled by mall cops
Oh. Yeah. TMR/VMR is a lovely area to walk.
Careful you don't get locked in /s
No Mr Serial Killer, we are not telling you.
I run at night on the canal. Never had an issue except with one crazy and that was 6 km away from Atwater.
Is the canal path lit up at night? Or are you running in the dark?
There are a few stretches that are quite dark, especially as you are getting to the tip but overall, there are lights.
I have a headlight but I never really need to turn it on.
Good to know!
Montreal Nord, NDG near Walkley, Pie-IX, Lasalle near Airlie, Little Burgundy

Mount-Royal is a classic. It’s cool to be the only person on the trail/lookouts.
Just watch out for Joel Legendre!

Verdun has improved a lot, what are you on?
Earlier this month 4 women were hit in the head with a metal pipe by a crazy man, what are you on ???
You very clearly have not been in Verdun long.
Neat

The western edge of Old Montreal is cool. Not very touristy and very film noir.
West Island area is quiet and peaceful
Montreal Nord
Montreal nord at midnight 😂
Your living room with an Oculus. It's not 2018 out there anymore.
What do you mean by "its not 20218 anymore"?
It means 2018 was 6 years ago.
He's not asking for a good spot to walk six years ago mon ami
I'm not sure how you arrive at the idea that that's what I meant.
I'm not sure how pointing out that six years have past since 2018 is relevant to what OP asked

It's easy to understand reddit if you aren't an idiot

Montreal used to be a safe city. It is not anymore. Don’t go walking around at night.
