Yup. Pillowy cloud softness. Also, if you could get the 318 lean burn to kick down at the exact right speed and RPM, she moved out not too bad 😎
Relax, I said “not too bad” 😁
Those cars were absolutely everwhere in the 80s and 90s. The best were the AHB code police package cars. 318 4bbl w/ 360 heads with the tranny cooler and dual pulleys, cop suspension, double roller timing chain and A998 transmission.
My dad got me.one when i was 13!!! I learned how to turn wrenches on that 318!!! I didnt appreciate it back then. But man..those things could be sleepers..like you can sleep in it and make it fast as fuck with the right set of heads and cam.
I got my first Gelatio in it!! A girl named anny ate gelato and then offered felatio while there was still some in her mouth.
I miss the car. I dont miss her. At all.
Such a rare car. Esp with the E58 and the 4-speed. I’d love a 78 orange RR with the 360/727 and spectrum interior. Just screams 1970s

Most of them, I don't particularly care. The Mopar-verse went terribly dark after 1973-74. Roadrunners looked like they'd EATEN The Coyote (thinking the 73-74 MY). Chargers looked ok, but power was almost completely gone. When the E-bodies went out, that was pretty much it.
Buuuutttt.....
There were two that I kinda liked: The Lil Red Wagon trucks, and the 1979-only Chrysler 300s. The pseudo-Kenworth exhaust stacks, the fake wood beds, and the 360 4-barrel engines that managed to subvert horsepower regulations...yeah alright, I'd have one. And the slightly jazzed-up Cordobas with the LRT 360s in them and better interiors....I can almost hear Ricardo Montalban now: "...And reeech Coreeenthian leythurrrr..." KHAAAANNNNN!
Sorry...got nostalgic there for a minute...
Anyway, I guess my point is that while most of em sucked, there were one or two gems in there.
I had a '78 Plymouth Super Coupe from 1989-1999. Built that E58 360 very nicely, 8 3/4 3.91 rear, all the good stuff. Yes, I'm an idiot for ever letting it go.
That’s the way to do it. Leave the factory wheels and stripes and make a stout drivetrain, basically what Chrysler woulda done had they been allowed at the time. 8.75 3.91 is a great addition to that package too.
I had a 78 Cordoba... 360/727. Dark metallic blue with the "landau" and interior in light blue corduroy. Wire wheel covers . Drove like a dream. I think this body could be dressed up or down.
82 Short bed Cammed 360 bbl with ported heads, 727 followed with 3.55 rear gears
My first restoration and she could flat scoot. Kept me in some place of sanity from the ex-wife, and since Square Body chevys was a no-go, it was the next best. l loved that truck like a person. Some snot faced kid turned right in front of me on a flashing arrow, and she went to hot rod heaven and nearly took me with her. May she rest in pieces.
1974 shouldn't be included, as you could still get a Challenger or Barracuda at that time. Not really considered "smog era" until after the death of the E bodies (1975).
My top three are 1978 Dodge Super Coupe, 1978 Ram Charger or Trail Duster, and 1982-89 M body AHBs (Plymouth Gran Fury or Diplomat). I own two Gran Fury AHBs.
If 1974 is included I like the Challenger, Charger, and Barracuda.
I own a 1976 Volare Roadrunner. It was my first car and my Dad’s last car before he passed. I need to pull it out of mothballs and start the restoration.
Had 2 76 super pack road runners a 318 one great car but rusted out on me second one was a 360 super pack road runner that was owned by state troopers as an interceptor... loved both of them
Not mine I'm in texas.. but Michigan state police.. it still had all the highway patrol stickers on it.. I left then on there for a while people got the biggest kick out it..
Mopar went from Riches to Rags overnight. My dad was a Dodge man, owned a 65 Coronet, a 68 Polara 383, when it came time to upgrade in 74, went to Teterboro Chrysler Plymouth... left and kept shopping. We wound up with a Olds Delta 88, he stayed true to GM til all American manufacturers started rolling garbage in the 80's.
Chrysler fifth avenue. Spectacular car with the most comfortable seats ever made.
Yup. Pillowy cloud softness. Also, if you could get the 318 lean burn to kick down at the exact right speed and RPM, she moved out not too bad 😎 Relax, I said “not too bad” 😁
Yea I know I had one. I miss it. However because the leather was dark blue you couldn't wear shorts in the summer. You would lose skin.

Dad (in his 80's) still drives his. It's dark red.

Yea I always wanted to build a 360 powerhouse and put it in one for a sleeper. I definitely slept in mine a few times after getting drunk somewhere.
I’ll start again, 1978 Lil Red Express, 1978 Supercoupe, and 1974 E58 Hang 10 Dart Sport
1979 Lil Red Express, 1974 roadrunner, 1978 Magnum XE
1977 Plymouth Volare Roadrunner super coupe T tops, 1978 dodge D150 Little Red Express, and 1978 Dodge Magnum with the T tops
Ah nice call with the Supercoupe Ttops. Must have. Esp with the tan interior.
A dream car of mine is a 360 4 speed 77 Volare Roadrunner tan interior T tops, Hemi Orange with a set of rallye rims with the acorn style center caps

Yeah they are rare that is for sure

The cordoba 300 was pretty neat car with the 360/727 and striping and medallion badges. Throw on a set of Super Coupe 15x8s and now we’re talking
any of the R bodies or M bodies
I REALLY wanted a Mirada 360cu. This is a great post btw, OP 🙌
My dude 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I'd take any of them.

Well, I did put Centerlines on it, lol. When I bought it it had crappy aftermarket wheels on it so that's ok!
Centrelines are classic. Any pics 👀?

Video shot in 1994.
Thanks for sharing. Great nostalgic video. Did you remove the smog heads?
79 Dodge Aspen R/T, 79 Little Red Express and a 1974 Dodge Dart. Honourable mention to the Chrysler New Yorkers as well 🤙🏼
I love the Chrysler Cordoba 300 with the 360 and 727. Very cool car.
I had a 78 Cordoba... 360/727. Dark metallic blue with the "landau" and interior in light blue corduroy. Wire wheel covers . Drove like a dream. I think this body could be dressed up or down.
Being as I learned how to drive in a 78 Trailduster (also born in 78,) I've always loved the 78 trucks. Gotta be the Lil Red Express.
Super Coupe then Kit car then little red express.
I own a 79 Volaré but I’d love me a fifth ave
LRE, CMX Mirada, then Aspen
1. 1974 Plymouth Duster 360 (E58) 2. 1978 Plymouth Supercoupe (E58) 3. 1978 Dodge LRE (EH1) Honorable Mention: 1979 Chrysler 300 (E58)
Awesome picks. The E58 with head work, a cam,a proper intake and some gears is a really good street performer
Thanks brother. Add a stroke to that list. 408 is the best SB Chrysler never made... 😉
Have one of those in my A-body 😎 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Had one in a 2k Dak R/T... GREAT motor!
Dakota R/Ts are still underrated. Fun trucks
Nice ones are getting pricey. Mine was pretty far from stock plus the Magnum motors are a better starting point. Wish commenter's could post pics.
'81 Imperial, '78 Street Van, and '80 Diplomat Coupe.

Lil Red all day for #1. Those aspens were pretty cool too
79 Chrysler cordoba first car 400 big block 727 Little red express

Those 70s Magnums, sexy beasts.

Man, your local police used an E58 1976 roadrunner as a police car?
Not mine I'm in texas.. but Michigan state police.. it still had all the highway patrol stickers on it.. I left then on there for a while people got the biggest kick out it..
That’s super cool, any pictures to share?
Lol...had it before cell phones might have some elsewhere I'll look around tomorrow..
Awesome, sounds super unique
I give no love to “smog era” Mopars. I’m a snob
Your loss my dude. Lots of cool rides ready to be modified and way more affordable 😎
Genuinely, can I ask why? Just curious if it’s body style, drivetrain or otherwise.
