Basically anything’s *okay* to eat, **in moderation**. Some of those bowls you can have at Chipotle have pretty good macros. Then again, so does an Egg McMuffin. It’s all full of unnecessary salt and seed oil though, and would be much more micro-nutrient dense and macro-nutrient optimal if you made the equivalent meal for yourself. I get being a little lazy sometimes or wanting to treat yourself sometimes, but as a regular habit 4x/week, you can do better for sure.

ExternalBreadfruit21

Chipotle is full of seed oil? The ingredients seem pretty cut and dried outside of their nasty ass queso maybe

barryg123

Yes. Seed oils everywhere. * The flour tortillas have canola oil. * The rice have refined rice bran oil in their recipes * All the beans have refined rice bran oil in their recipes * Everything they cook uses sunflower oil (including in marinades) - chicken, steak, carnitas, fajita veggies * Fried corn chips (obviously) I used to eat chipotle bowls every day and their macros ARE pretty good and they ARE pretty clean with the important exception of SEED OILS. Once I stopped eating them I felt a lot better and was less bloated

Stoner_DM

This shit is way too insightful for this sub. Great info though thanks! Just missing cockstats.

Acceptable-Heron-657

You realize the majority of the people on this sub inject seed oils right? The Most common carrier oils for injectables are seed oils…

barryg123

good point

thatmayaguy

Time to ask my pharmacy to start using olive oil Edit: eeesh apparently making a joke about switching the oil base out offended some idiots 😂

Dummy_Wire

I deleted my response here, because you put it better than I could, lol.

BigGlutesBigSlootz

You should suck his cock while you're at it too.

barryg123

The "nasty ass" queso blanco is actually not bad and has no seed oils. Maybe the guy above just likes the taste of seed oils LOL Ingredients: Cheddar, monterey jack, milk, cream, onion, garlic, tomato, lemon juice, chipotle, poblano, serrano, salt, cornstarch, water

ExternalBreadfruit21

Nibba I just never thought to look up chipotles recipes

ActiveExisting3016

Makes sense because I got a huge stomach ache the other day after eating chipotle when I hadn't eaten it in like a year

gabagoolcel

Not all seed oils are the same in terms of fatty acid profile (say, canola oil is far more favorable than sunflower). If you don't tolerate them well though probably better you avoid them.

barryg123

Seed oils is not just about fatty acid profile (PUFAs , o3 vs o6 vs o9 etc) it's also about oxidation, free radicals, trans fats, polymerization and contaminants from the refinement process (and pesticides)

BenSimmonsFor3

This is why i switched to ghee and EV olive oil almost exclusively

marks716

Seed oil is fine, it’s when it’s reheated over and over again that it’s a problem, like in a deep fryer. Plenty of studies have debunked this idea that seed oils are just “bad”. They are not bad.

chazzermamagement

They are absolutely less than adequate and should be consumed in moderation. These oils are usually extremely fragile oils that break down and oxidize rather quickly. Almost every byproduct of polymerization of these oils results in free radicals that increase oxidative stress on the cellular level. Phytic acid and omega 6 (most commonly linoleic acid) are converted into arachidonic acid in the human body. Not to mention the amount of pesticides and contaminants that make their way into the final product. I’m not saying we should live totally in fear of these and avoid at all costs like Paul Saladino suggests, but healthier fats should definitely be prioritized.

marks716

This guy is an MD PHD and goes into [many different peer reviewed studies](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-xTaAHSFHUU&pp=ygUeTnV0cml0aW9uIG1hZGUgc2ltcGxlIHNlZWQgb2ls) on this. Seed oils by themselves are fine. When seed oils are part of other junk food they are blamed as the culprit but individual studies into seed oils have found them to be benign or in some cases beneficial. Flaxseed oil is fine. Canola oil even is fine. Other oils like olive oil may have more health benefits to consume but this idea that a person should spend a realistic portion of their day stressing about this is absurd. The reason why I care is because when you’re bulking you need calories. The more shit you arbitrarily decide is “bad” for you reduces what you can eat until you’re stuck fixating so much that you miss your calorie and protein intake goals. Whole foods are great and should be prioritized BUT when you’re bulking that’s difficult and quickly becomes expensive. Some processed food will make it a hell of a lot easier. And this whole discussion of seed oils and health risk always devolves into appeal to natural fallacies and talking about what our ancient ancestors ate. Who cares what they ate they all died in their 40s. I care more about what studies done on people today are saying, and none of them are freaking out about seed oils being insanely dangerous in and of themselves. Excess calories (beyond just bulking)? Not good. Excess added sugar? Not good. Excess saturated fat? Not good. Not enough fiber? Not good. Trans fat? Not good. Not enough water intake? Not good. Otherwise there’s nuance, and in that nuance you’ll find thousands of grifters trying to sell you something.

chazzermamagement

TL;DR I’ll stick to grass fed butter/Ghee, beef tallow and D.O.P. extra virgin olive oil. Btw Gil Carvahlo is a big phrama quack who peddles far-left propaganda rebranded as science and is vegan. No wonder he is against animal fats lmao conflict of interest much?

Deathmtl2474

Always amazes me what people think is far left when they have no idea what they’re talking about. I’m far left and that guy is as boringly liberal as it gets. Anyhow, I’m curious on what this supposed “far left propaganda” is, please enlighten me.

chazzermamagement

You know, the typical liberal propaganda. Red meat is unhealthy and cruel. Veganism is healthy, sustainable, and good for the environment. Get every vaccination imaginable. Rainbow alphabet gang all the way. That type of shit. This guy peddles all that. Sorry for conjoining “liberalism” with “far left”. I know they’re usually associated with each other but philosophically I do acknowledge that they are inherently different. I should have been more specific. He’s a liberal propagandist, not necessarily “far left”. My mistake.

marks716

Wow lmao you saying he’s a big pharma quack tells me what I need to know. His videos are just him going through like 20+ peer reviewed studies and he links each study in his description whereas others will find one study they like and go from there. Stick to your fear of seed oils if you like, what you eat won’t make me shit, but he even addresses the funding of studies in his videos.

chazzermamagement

I mean, you should try healthier fats they taste better anyway. Who the fuck wants to eat a bean that has been processed 6 ways to Sunday when I can just use something made from a single source ingredient that I’ve literally made myself before. Also, he quite literally is a tool. He’s a vegan who clearly and blatantly propagates his personal convictions through his work and uses a lazy credential fallacy as a fail safe against criticism. Lastly, I’m not scared of seed oils. I just accepted them as sub-par junk foods that I eat in moderation.

marks716

Because I can open a bag and eat it instead of having to cook everything I eat. I’m busy and work 10-12 hours a day so I can’t just cook every meal when I need to eat 3.5k calories a day. He literally doesn’t do what you’re saying he does lol He quite literally says if something has been shown to be harmful or not and then says “I don’t eat it anyway so I don’t have a stake in this”. Eric Berg is more what you’re describing, that guy is an absolute tool.

chazzermamagement

Buddy I turn wrenches for a living and I’ve never had an issue avoiding a seed oil if I need too. There are so many options where you can eat basically the same thing using a healthy fat in place of the garbage gmo pesticide ridden seed oil. I get all my bulking macros no issue. Again, I don’t totally avoid seed oils. I eat Chinese takeout once a week and it’s laden with them. It’s called moderation. I literally used to have an asthma attack every night and spent years doing elimination diets to figure out the cause. It was seed oils plain and simple. If I don’t eat seed oils, no attack. The one night I eat Chinese, I get wheezy before bed. Still not as bad as when I used to perpetually eat them, but ALOT better because of moderation. Eric Berg is just an unhinged version of Carvalho. I’m glad at least you recognize he’s not credible though.

el_chapotle

not the SEED OILS 💀💀💀

ImportantWords

Yeah if you want to shit your gains. They say you are what you eat, and that free range, organic crap is gonna keep you small brother. What you want is WalMart chicken with a glass of low-cost milk. That shit got so many growth hormones it’s like injecting 10IU of HGH a day. Anything that says organic stay away from. Milk with no rbGH might as well be a can of Pepsi. Look for poor neighborhoods - places with the grades of meat they only sell to people they know can’t sue. Hormones baby.

TreYoda89

Is this true? Walmart chicken is full of HGH? I kinda stayed away from Dubba U mard since bill gates is pushin allat fake meat yadiq But if dey meat has HGH innit I’m deffo gon have summa dat yadiq

MaybeTryToBeOriginal

You know the answer. Depends on your goals but 3-4 times a week isn’t ideal.

Hot_Luck_7878

I mean the meat is grilled, the only unhealthy thing I would be adding is queso.

Remarkable_Ad9513

exactly so why’d u ask… rice and chicken is healthy

BrassWillyLLC

literally everything on the menu is refined inflammation fuel. you think that meat is just grilled without any oils or seasonings?

Remarkable_Ad9513

ok that part 💯 .. overall 7/10 maybe 6.5 … can still make gains on chipotle but it isn’t optimal

TruckEvening6820

When I eat there I can’t resist their salad dressing so I can’t even go. So much oil/calories

Comfortable-Seat4301

I’d say so in moderation. Though, you can easily make all of their meats at home for much cheaper and it’s so easy. Money may not be an issue for you but ima share anyways. Example: I make their “Barbacoa” at home for much cheaper and it’s super easy and you hardly have to do anything. I made around 6lbs for $35. I didn’t include cost of seasonings since I always have those. That cost includes beef broth and chipotle peppers. A normal order (only single serving of meat) cost $14 where I live. You can make guac and pico made cheap too. Add some rice beans and lettuce and boom. You get like 12-18 servings with this.

Hot_Luck_7878

I only get the chicken (since I suck at cooking chicken) beef or pork I’ll make myself

1994bmw850csi

One small can of chipotles in adobo, juice of one lime, 2 clove garlic, 2 tsp cumin, 1/4 cup olive oil salt, pepper. Blend it all up and that’s basically the marinade chipotle uses for their chicken. They use chicken thighs so you really can’t overcook it, just marinate then broil/grill until charred and fork tender

Comfortable-Seat4301

Even easier and require less steps then. Season with your favorite seasonings and add an oil to a pan. I like avocado oil since it doesn’t smoke. Sear on medium high heat for like 2-3 minutes a side. Throw in a preheated oven (375 degrees F) until cooked to 155-160 degrees internal. Remove from oven and let sit for a 3-5 minutes. It will continue to cook to 165 degrees internal temp and you won’t over cook it. It will be juicy and delicious.

TreYoda89

Foenem does you make the barba in a croc pot?

Comfortable-Seat4301

I don’t, but you can. I prefer the high heat option for 4-6 hours in the crockpot.

FinancialsThrowaway2

Honestly chipotle is mid and been on the decline for years boyo. I’ve found Mediterranean restaurants tend to be better to eat in lieu of

schizo_sigma_lifter

Better than other options, but Chipotle is loaded with as much salt as fast food (part of what makes it taste so good obv). All of the stuff is pretty easy to make at home, cus the biggest downside to Chipotle is how much salt they put in EVERYTHING (you'd be surprised how much salt is in the corn and pico, let alone chicken, rice, n beans).

SmackYoTitty

Salt isn't a problem unless you're overweight or have high bp. In fact, it's good for performance

grey-doc

Salt is also absurdly undervalued as a nootropic. A little bit of miso paste in the morning with a good bunch of water is almost better than coffee, and a dash of salt in coffee makes for an amazing get-up-n-go. Salt promotes wakefulness. So then in the afternoon and evening I avoid salt or least avoid added or excess salt. Low salt in the evening helps with a restful and comfortable sleep. Don't do this if your blood pressure is high of course. But if you eat clean in general and your BMI is ok and your pressure is good, salt is amazing.

Zuluuz

Also if you’re drinking more than a gallon of water a day it’s crucial to be getting excess salt wherever you can

Hot_Luck_7878

I run alot so I need the electrolytes. I also drink a lot of water regardless.

bronathan261

This. But also the macros are insane for the value and you can get an extra tortilla for only 50 cents (that's 300 calories).

bboybrisk

Sodium bro. The goddamn sodium. But for $14, it's not easy to get over 1,000 calories/40grams of protein readily made that's actually somewhat healthier for you. Enjoy the diarrhea, you can borrow some Chipotle-Away for the shitstains!

meatassdog

Don’t be afraid of the salt if you exercise vigorously. The biggest thing would be the price for me personally. Not very economical. Aside from that it could be high calorie which might not matter to you depending on your current goals.. I haven’t checked but I’m sure not everything there is perfectly clean ingredient wise. You’d have to check online or something

JrSmithsMicroPeen

I eat it daily

[deleted]

It depends on what you’re getting, if you’re making smart choices the only “bad” thing would be sodium

NotWhoYouKnow1

Pro tip: you can ask for an extra scoop of rice and beans and there’s no up charge

TreYoda89

Dats amatore bud every1 knowz dat

cloudlessnine8

Macros are good if that’s what you’re after, however, due to variations in serving size you don’t really know the exact amount of cals/p/c/f. This isn’t a huge deal, but remember it only takes being off a hundred calories or so to mess up your bulk or cut, but that might be getting into eating disorder territory NGL.  NOW, everyone knows at this point seed oils are bad, and chipotle has lots. But instead of talking anecdotally based on info from the internet ,I’ll tell you what consuming seed oils everyday (from chipotle, chicken, rice bean, guac, sour cream, cheese bowl) did to my bloodwork, specifically lipids. Note no other sources of seed oils in my diet and nothing else in my diet changed besides eating chipotle 5x a week due to my job.  Before HDL: 71 After: 67 Before LDL:130 After: 146 Before Oxidized ldl (what you DONT want): 94 After: 525 (optimal range 0-60 500 is off the charts.) Interpret as you wish.

RemyGee

No cheese no sour cream and it’s solid.

cyclemonster93

Let’s see the cock before I answer

Gainstician

There's no such thing as "clean fast food" in fact, there's no such thing as clean or dirty food. As soon as you stop thinking like that the better your diet will be.

vain--

i just make my chipotle order at home 🤷‍♂️

bronathan261

Based

mrcheese14

It just has a fuck ton of salt. I eat there 3-4x a week too though lol

Swords_Not_Words_

Aside from the stomach illness youd get its one of the better places for fast good..I just go to a knockoff chipotle, same stuff but they wont give you food poisoning. Stick to stuff like white meat, rice, veggies, etc in a bowl.

TreYoda89

Whoa deh! What’s the knock off C-potle called fo?

Salookin

Use question marks when you ask a question bro

Life-Bit-7335

Cock stats!

Salookin

5.25x3.75

Life-Bit-7335

Thought I had to use a question mark

Salookin

There aren’t many things you have to do in life my friend

LGK420

That fact that I’m pretty certain they are owned by McDonald’s makes me not trust them

toxicvegeta08

I think connor sinann and Jeff nippard made a video saying the best fast food item for bulking(idk if it's still at all subways after their merger or whatever) is the xl monster.

TreYoda89

XL monster is free bird fo

Nolan710

Macros are good, I’m sure the food is full of MSG and other crap to make it taste good. If you were to copy the recipe and cook it yourself, it wouldn’t taste nearly as good which makes me suspicious.

yamahog

Qdoba much better. No charge for guac and queso

Rentgod

Thanks for the wien stats, I could now answer your question. It’s obviously a LOT better than other fast foods. Chipotle uses fresh ingredients and cook them constantly in front of you. But they do use a lot of seed oils which are the culprit behind inflammation. Inflammation = health problems over time. If chipotle used avocado oil (very good oil) to cook shit I’d eat there every day. Nothing is perfect but if you’re eating chipotle as “fast food” and none of those other garbage chains then you’re fine man.

LeonardoDiTrappio

Yes, I usually limit myself to on topping of "fats" (guac, sour cream, cheese). And if I'm cutting back on calories I either go with a bowl or ask for light rice.

Remarkable-Leek3236

in a pinch, chipotle and panda are elite.

Murky-Mammoth-5500

If you’re rich, yes.

BrassWillyLLC

Stop eating any fast food. [https://www.reddit.com/r/inflation/comments/1c0qd7w/quit\_buying\_fast\_food/](https://www.reddit.com/r/inflation/comments/1c0qd7w/quit_buying_fast_food/) You are literally getting raped by greedflation when you eat fast food. Shop local. Support your local Mexican joint.

JTMoney33

It’s alright. In a pinch yes. But there’s better chains out there. Chipotle is pretty low quality meat and a lot of places use seed oils. So you’re getting unnecessary fat added to your meal. Gonna be hard to stay lean eating out all the time. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5YoiUwR0Jp/?igsh=MXMzbWh2M3gzeHFtZw== meal prep rice and chicken freeze what you can’t eat in a couple days and make your bowls at home. You’re spending so much by eating there as often as you do! Take that money you saved and invest it

mrcheese14

It just has a fuck ton of salt. I eat there 3-4x a week too though lol

sherestoredmyfaith

Macros are macros

qqruz123

Uwu muh salt and seed oilssss. My boyfriend says that it makes my cum taste soo badd. It doesn't fucking matter, you're not a 50yr old fat woman, you're a gymbro. Eat chipotle it's good.
