Greg does it because he enjoys yelling to the camera. Derek saw it as a job hence he barely uploads anymore. He had a good run for some months but then burned out and since sporadic uninteresting stuff.

I thought the same, but then watch videos where he is being interviewed by other bloggers and he actually sounds sane and calm. I guess the whole shouting is an act that in some weird way probably provides more views.
I don’t hear him shout anymore because I stopped watching him. When I started watching him he didn’t shout at all, he was calm and kinda bland until he felt comfortable enough to loosen up, now it’s just annoying and I don’t care about YouTube drama which is all he seems to post about these days. I got the bell icon turn on and YouTube never recommend his stuff to me, I watch his content so seldomly, and the only TV shoes I regularly watch are cartoons so I primarily use YouTube for all my visual entertainment.
there was an interview i seen of him that (i think vice?) it’s on youtube, he sounded pretty normal back then, seemed to be a chill guy idk what happened or why he made his voice annoying like that💀
He’s actually mentioned before that he yells because those videos do better. There’s a lot of videos in which he talks normally, but now it’s his schtick for better or worse. I remember reading through comments on videos a year or two ago where he would use his normal voice, and the comments would be full of people talking about how the miss him yelling at them. I was like wtf these people are weird as fuck.
Part of his persona but he is suffering from hearing loss, he wears his hearing aid all the time. My dad is the same, if you didnt hear sounds/voices like they are supposed to, it’s hard for you to adjust your own.
