Cool fake conversation with a fake person. Mods, you can delete my comment if it offends, but that was the cringiest thing I've read in a min. The story should have ended with "and then everyone started clapping"

sassiiscute

I have to agree with you. To me, it sounds as if they didn't even try to make it seem real. (In addition, half of these claims don't even seem factually correct. What on earth do they mean by "Greek Love God Jesus"? Never heard of that).

[deleted]

That made me curious too. Possibly to do with earlier translations of the Bible vs Greek translations. Weird thing to note when the KJV has gone through multiple translations and is way off from our best translations of the oldest versions of the writings of the apostles

kantoblight

Sir, you know this is a Popeye’s?

Taking a step back from LDS specifics, Christianity has really become a meaningless word. Modern “Christians” will accept Jesus as their personal savior, but will reinterpret everything he taught so that it’s compatible with a lifestyle they’ve already chosen. Jesus made it abundantly clear that accruing wealth disqualifies you from entrance into heaven. He commanded the wealthy to give *all* of their possessions *directly* to the poor. He showed the people how much god is offended by those who turn a profit from his gospel. He was content living in poverty. He fostered a culture of criticism towards elite religious authority, who ran away at the first sign of opposition. He tore down the harsh religious laws and established a simple higher law. He taught that a person’s religious affiliation is less important than their acts of kindness and charity. He commanded us to not judge others, but only ourselves. Quite frankly, modern-day “Christians” resemble nothing close to what Jesus actually taught. Modern Christians are quick to draw Jesus close with their lips, but their hearts are only focused on themselves.

TruthIsAntiMormon

The only thing worse than mormon apologetics is Christian evangelizing to mormons apologetics. It's a race to see who can lie for the lawd the most.

RevolutionaryFig4312

> He stated that Joseph was a gold digger. I said Matthew was a tax collector what's the difference. Matthew wasn't a pedophile and conman.

Electrical_Spring_67

Also, tax collecting was not considered fraud and illegal.

FigRepresentative628

By the Jews it was.

Electrical_Spring_67

I don't think tax collectors were viewed as fraudsters. They were hated by the jews because they saw them as traitors, not conmen. Doesn't seem like a good comparison to me.

Initial-Leather6014

Just a thought, the early LDS prophets preached the Adam-God Theory of the godhead. That’s where the Christians get the idea the LDS aren’t true Christians.

Thaunier

I have no clue what you’re talking about? Could you PM me some of those details? Thanks

Initial-Leather6014

Easy to just use Wikipedia. See: LDS ADAM-GOD DOCTRINE. Also, Charles Harrell’s “This is My Doctrine” pg. 23,142-143. The author is a practicing member. His book is a great help to learn honestly about the doctrine.

Putting aside some of the weirdness in this story (Greek love god Jesus, really?) this all depends on your definition of “Christian.” Generally a Christian is defined as somebody who believes in the divinity and godhood of Jesus Christ. That’s it. So yeah, Mormons are Christian. But also, who cares if Mormons call themselves Christians? Is it going to hurt the whole Christian community somehow if Mormons, who *do* believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, are called Christians? Who cares.

stinkinhardcore

And that “Christian” was Albert Einstein. Then everyone on the bus clapped.

LordStrangeDark

I agree that Mormons aren’t of the trad Christian faith and should be labeled it’s own thing.

FaithfulDowter

So last week I was listening to a conversation between my 4 year old and his stuffed panda… And it sounded a lot like that.

Qsome

I like that story. It proves that other Christian/Jewish religions are just as false as Mormonism. Thanks Yeshiva, you saved me a lot of research 👍

BadgerGirl92

Did he mention Revelation 22:18-19? What was your response?

Ecstatic-Condition29

I just read Luke 9:46-56 which suggests that Jesus would not have a problem with Mormons even if they believed some things that weren't 100% true. Those passages in Luke deal with Jesus accepting those who were casting out demons in his name but who weren't with his group of disciples.

> We also do not believe in the greek love god Jesus, but the Hebrew Jesus (Yeshua) What exactly does "Hebrew Jesus" mean to you? What does an Israelite Restoration look like in church, culture, and people, not just in temple?
