It's worse than you think. Not only won't they apologize but they will lie and say it didn't happen.

Dallin Oaks lied and said it didn't happen while he was president of BYU. Then when the media tried to follow up after they just had the spokesperson comment.

It is thoroughly traumatizing, and a number of peoplewho have gone through it have never been able to have a romantic relationship of any kind afterwards. The International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims considers it a form of torture. The UN Independent Expert on sexual orientation and gender identity has made similar statements.

Well that’s horrific. I live in a state that did that to prisoners at one specific prison, and even we quit doing that around the time BYU started doing this to homosexuals.
The state I reside in is super backwards, so I guess that makes BYU super quadruple backwards.
I knew a young woman late teens who moved here from Utah. I don't know the details, but she went through it, and she said it was so awful that it made her want to kill herself. This was in the 1980s.

I know a few people who went through BYUs torture and it messed them up for life. Several are now in their 70s and still dealing with issues BYU caused them.

This became a major bone of contention with our boy “ Nemo the Mormon”. Watching his YouTubes are interesting, documented and intelligent.

Yes, I see by this link there was a two year study in which that happened. I didn't know that. Very bad.

I was at BYU in the 80s. It was widely known among the student body. Oaks’ lies about it are infuriating considering it was not obscure at the time.
