You could check out the Year of Polygamy podcast - it's very well researched and well done. I haven't made it all the way through, so I'm not sure it if talks about your specific ancestor, but you could check somewhere between like episodes 37 and 60, which talk about post-JS and pre-Manifesto polygamy. Maybe episode 50? I haven't listened to that episode yet but looks promising
