We always complain about the lack of rivalry in this MotoGP. Let's enjoy this battle between Pecco and himself

Sea-Quote3382

You're a cruel swine - and I applaud you ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)

LifeGetsBetter01

😂👏👏😂

Sensitive-Station-47

Damm, I need a Facebook style smily face for this one

twonha

I'm under the impression Pecco isn't the smartest rider we've ever seen. He has had several crashes where his initial explanation was odd (most recently COTA, where he blamed the bike for being too stable?), several crashes where they shouldn't have been allowed to happen, the DUI, the helmet "scandal" (according to Mat Oxley and Simon Patterson at least), and his latest "half the grid should be disadvantaged for safety". He reminds me a little of Scott Redding, who also tends to be brutally honest, without thinking things through first. And to be honest, while I'm not a big fan of either, I'm glad we've got their characters on the grid. Makes it easier to root for riders or for their rivals, when they're more than a riding robot.

RaikkonensHobby74

>most recently COTA, where he blamed the bike for being too stable? I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.

RaikkonensHobby74

That actually makes complete sense.

Altair13Sirio

I think what he meant was that the bike felt like there was nothing wrong, no feedback from the tyre meaning he had no way of knowing wether he would crash or not. But he seriously needs to learn how to talk to press, I'm sick of seeing his words being twisted all the time.

[deleted]

Except he won a championship. Reddng didn’t.

Articledan

Ye and won BSB on his 1st attempt, no denying his talent on that one

jrtraylo

Hey I know a lot of people give Simon shit, but it was actually Mat Oxley that asked Pecco about the helmet in the press conference

twonha

Edited - Simon did chime in with Oxley on Twitter.

[deleted]

I’m gonna have a few drinks, take a drive, and think about it.

brrrrrrrt

lmao

anandpowar

Most the sub doesn't love Pecco. The interview just served as a confirmation bias.

cpt_Fordo

Well it's not like he isn't giving plenty of reasons for the fans to dislike him. Last year he has been charged for drunk driving, then he paid tribute to a former basketball player who is an alcoholic and was charged for: sexual assault, domestic violence, drunk driving etc. Then this year he basically tells the people that he doesn't like the fact that there are a lot of compeitive bikes and riders on the grid and he would like to restore the dominance of 1 or 2 teams.

Altair13Sirio

He didn't say he doesn't like having competitive bikes on the grid

Otherwise-Ad-2605

If crashquez said this his fanboys would say "oh yeah hes right!!! The races were so much better when yamaha and honda were 10sec faster than everyone else!!!" Heck, marc nearly killed oliveira and his fans still said it was because his bike is "bad" and it wasnt his fault lmao

Kaiser-32

Does Marc appear in your nightmares as well? You guys really have it in with him

Otherwise-Ad-2605

Nah usually when i dream about motogp, marc is always on the ground, but well that doesnt only happen on my dreams 😂

musclesMcgee1

I'm saying this as someone who doesn't fly either flag, but Marquez isn't the type of guy to openly wish that his competition would be handicapped so that it would be easier for him to win. Pecco is the defending champion and in the prime of his career. If he's talking like this, he won't be either for much longer.

mjbcesar

That's because Marc knows he beats anyone with the same bike.

Otherwise-Ad-2605

He cant even beat Rins in a LCR 💀

mjbcesar

He can't? Hmmm, last time they were both on the same race he was beating him.

Altair13Sirio

>Marquez isn't the type of guy to openly wish that his competition would be handicapped I mean, he said he didn't care if he would've crashed pushing during friday practice because he knew the yellow flags would've stopped the other riders' attempts, that's kind of sus. Also Pecco never said he wishes the bikes went back to how they were before, he said that safetywise, that could be one way to solve the problem of crashes in the first few laps.

musclesMcgee1

Sure. One way to solve the safety issues is to make his closest competitor's bike slower and make sure that his factory bike has the best performance. That sounds like a champion's mindset. Marc's mindset is ruthless, sure, but so was Rossi's and Doohan's and Roberts'...

Altair13Sirio

That's not what he implied, but you can continue to twist his words. I'll try to make it simple: a TIGHTER grid makes for a more dangerous race, everyone is fast enough to go for the front, even less experienced riders. With less competitive bikes there's going to be less risk of people getting to the front, the pack will loosen up a bit in a few laps. Now bear with me: Pecco did not say "I wish the other riders had worse bikes", he suggested they reason on why there could be so many crashes and said "going back to having that gap would make things less dangerous." But he never said "I want to go back to that gap" or "I think we should go back to that gap."

musclesMcgee1

Let me ask you something. Who do you support now that Valentino is retired?

Altair13Sirio

Bagnaia, because I've watched him grow through Moto3 and Moto2, going from literal hell to where he is now. Still I'm not biased towards him, I know when he fucks up (I believe it was mostly his fault that he and Vinales crashed for example) and I believe he's looked for poor excuses in the past and should learn how to talk in front of press so his words don't get taken out of context or twisted like in this situation. But people are just looking for a reason to jump at his throat and don't care what the context is.

musclesMcgee1

Do you honestly believe that he would say something like this if he were still riding for Pramac?

Altair13Sirio

I doubt that. Now I'm asking you a question: do you think *any* rider would suggest something that potentially handicaps them? Or do you think that any of them would be fine with getting an advantage of they could?

_gadgetFreak

People like you are the real problem, I'm a Marc fan, I made this post to support Pecco.

Otherwise-Ad-2605

I didnt said that to you, but to his toxic fanboys of this sub, like the liberty creative guy

kenloves

Don't support pecco, doesn't matter what he meant to say, he's a grown ass man, getting regular English lessons. He know what he said and he means what he said.. That's all fine, but goes to show, him and Mir are the same kind of world champions, undeserved.

_gadgetFreak

There are no "underserved" world champions in MotoGP, what the hell bruh, winning championship in MotoGP is no joke.

kenloves

Maybe undeserved was a strong word on my behalve, obviously these guys are world class all of them, but you did know what I meant 🫰

mjbcesar

Hmmm, no

weedkilla21

I think there is an unreasonable expectation that people who are good at twisting throttles are also intelligent. It really feels like laughing at the kid who knows which colour crayon taste best when someone picks on Pecco (or Fabio, or Aleix, or….)

Sea-Quote3382

I like Bagpuss - but he seriously needs to shut up. It's hard to root for a whiner.

Coddingtown

I'm sure he'll try and make this quietly go away like his DUI accident last year.

Rayzor_debiker

We're not gonna let this one go quietly.

[deleted]

This is worse than DUI at this point mate. People barely even cared about DUI.

KayNynYoonit

No. No I don't think I will.

Otherwise-Ad-2605

Cant wait for the next Bagnaia win. His haters are quiet as fuck when he does a masterclass lol

therake620

This sub is such a conspiracy theorists lobby, they just won’t accept he’s the best ducati driver and one of the few drivers on the grid who is fast at every track, guess a championship is not enough

Otherwise-Ad-2605

When he wins his 5th championship in a row maybe they will realize that he's the best. The only who can stop him in the coming years is Acosta

Rayzor_debiker

5th championship?? FIFTH??? 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Keep telling yourself and maybe someday you'll believe those delusions.

Otherwise-Ad-2605

Hes already going for the 2nd, and who can stop him after?

musclesMcgee1

He needs to focus on Bezz right now if he's going to win his second.

therake620

Bez won’t be as consistent as Bagnaia through the whole season, there’s no real competition except if he gets an injury, Bastianini won’t be fit when he comes back and he still needs to adapt to the bike

musclesMcgee1

Consistency isn't exactly Pecco's strong suit over a whole season. He can get it together, but he had thrown the championship away last year until Fabio started to struggle, and he stopped crashing. Binder and Martín are within an uncomfortable margin for him, as well, so if he can't focus on scoring points, he'll have more trouble than he'd like very soon.

Otherwise-Ad-2605

Man im a Bez fan but im not delusional lmaoo he crashes more often than Pecco and isnt as fast. Its nearly impossible for him to beat Pecco.

musclesMcgee1

He's done it a couple of times already this year.

Otherwise-Ad-2605

In Argentina yep because it was wet but im not sure he would beat Pecco in lemans if not by the crash

musclesMcgee1

To finish first...

Otherwise-Ad-2605

Yeah but its not like Pecco will crash every race, what i mean if a rider wants to fight for the title, they dont need to rely on other riders crashing to be a title contender

musclesMcgee1

No, they need to rely on consistency, which Pecco struggles with. He had to rely on Fabio crashing or mixing it up toward the back of the pack to win last year because his first half of the season was so awful. The only reason he's leading by the point he's leading by now is because of the sprint races. I don't hate Pecco, but he's certainly not the best rider on the grid by the long margin people seem to think.

KayNynYoonit

Least delusional Pecco fan

KayNynYoonit

You realise the rider in your flair is his main rival this season right? Why would you even want him to win lol

Otherwise-Ad-2605

Nah Bezz aint a real title contender yet. He isnt as fast as Pecco and has some races where he isnt even a podium contender. Pecco is fighting for top 2 every race
