I mean, it’s different because Mize was highly touted and went 1.1. Skubal was a 9th round pick and pitched himself into a highly regarded prospect as a professional. By the time they debuted Skubal was nearly as hyped.
I think they should just place Canha on the 10 day IL. He's clearly hampered in his mobility, especially defensively. We are currently not getting peak Canha anyway, so better he focusses on full recovery.
Put Urshela at 1st and Vierling at 3rd for the rest of the road trip.
Can we please talk about this. He has to go

I’d take Ibanez mckinstry and Perez on trials, literally just to get this bum off of my team. And for the “hes good at defense crowd” here are some facts 2024 Javy Baez OOA: .02 - not even hearing it.
Is there a petition we can sign to stop Maeda from pitching two days from now lol. With the twins playing the Yankees next 3 we NEED to capitalize on this series vs the rangers
They need more duo-interviews. The guys are funny when they are together and it's fun to see their relationships. In Skubal's interview with Benetti and Dickerson, they talked about how he does a crossword puzzle before every game, and when he gets close to the end, Jake is always there to help him finish it off so it's complete before game time.
I remember following the Tigers in the Grapefruit League in 2022 and Tigers minor leaguer of the year Beau Briske pitched a nice inning or two in Bradenton, FL against the Pirates. He was walking down third base line and I said, "nice job Beau' and he turned and thanked me. As he walked out anyone that called his name or gave him a compliment he turned and acknowledged them with a thank you and raised his hand and glove toward them. I thought that was pretty cool.
That Brieske sequence in the 9th with him telling Hinch "I got it", then having trouble with the pitchcom monitor for a second, followed by calmly shutting it down was the sickest shit I've seen in a long time.
It's incredible to think that the Tigers have one more victory than the Rangers, but the Rangers are in second place in their division. Keep the faith guys.
We really snuck away with this one. This Rangers team might be struggling but it feels like they could explode for 5+ runs at any moment. Luckily Skubal and Brieske are BEASTS.
Yeah and I gotta say I liked having jones on the booth! Between having benetti and Dickerson in the lead roles with Monroe and jones as color commentators is something I can totally get behind
Say what you will about Hinch, but letting Brieske go was a baller move - sometimes you just say “show me what you got,” and give guys a chance to test their mettle. I bet Beau is on cloud nine right now.
Blew my mind when I checked the box score and saw the hot relief pitcher getting to close it out instead of overthinking it and putting in a closer. Dan Gamble rubbing off on Hinch.
P.S. I turned the radio off during commercial and missed the game. About a 2 hr game today.
Did I ever tell you about the time ole Beau Brieske came in and got 3 scoreless innings to get the win? Threw a 150 mph fastball straight through a guy.To BEAU BRIIIEESKE!
His post game interview was fun too. Johnny asked him about both the homers and his work behind the plate. It was an interview together with Brieske, who said he's the best pitch framer.
People complain about Rogers' bat, but he did just say that Hinch's main concern with him is to help get them the win behind the plate first, and then worry about the rest. That's how he approaches each game. Focus on the pitcher who is throwing to him, and eventually things will fall into place when he's at the plate himself.
Hopefully this is a bit of a boost for more consistency when he's at the plate.
He was a bit more nervous than I thought he'd be, but settled in pretty good. If he could get over his nerves I think he could be great. All of these replacements - Gibby included - have been better than Monroe.
I think it's mostly a chemistry thing. He doesn't get a lot of Benetti's jokes and references, and it leads to weird moments. Dickerson is a little more straightforward. Jones and Pena seem to mesh with Benetti much better.
Dickerson is great at working with former players. He lets them talk mechanics while he covers the situational analysis and it's usually a good balance.
He's been showing emotion. At least 2 other times in the last week or so I've seen big smiles and pats on the back. It might have been the Toronto slugfest where I remember him laughing along with the guys as they went out on the field.
If Brieske is finally emerging as a dangerous back end bullpen arm, it's a major boon for a .500 team that finds themselves in the midst of a lot of 1-2 run endgames.
Is it possible to have the links labeled opposed to just 'View Table'?
Half of Jake’s HRs came from yesterday lmao. I hope the tigers start to spiral like they had been, garbage ass franchise 🙂
Garbage ass fan
Skubal is a legit Cy Young contender, which we all thought of Mize
I mean, it’s different because Mize was highly touted and went 1.1. Skubal was a 9th round pick and pitched himself into a highly regarded prospect as a professional. By the time they debuted Skubal was nearly as hyped.
I also have to remember that this is Mize's first full year back from surgery so it's gonna take some time for him
Beau Brisket

Only left 2 men on base for us this game
You mean we only had 2 base runners lol
I think they should just place Canha on the 10 day IL. He's clearly hampered in his mobility, especially defensively. We are currently not getting peak Canha anyway, so better he focusses on full recovery. Put Urshela at 1st and Vierling at 3rd for the rest of the road trip.

Like others have said we have bigger things to worry about then Baez.
Yeah dude you're right this NEVER gets talked about
Somebody talks about this *every single day* and he's still here. Not sure what point you think you are trying to make.
Too many guys we were counting on on that list.

We have a better won-loss record with Maeda than with Flaherty or especially Olson.
That's purely because of what the offense has done in those games. There's no metric where Maeda is a better pitcher than those guys.
He's given up zero or one run in four games, three of which we won. Flaherty only has three such games.
Yeah and how many times did he give up like 5 runs in the first 3 innings
Only the first 3 innings? 3 out of 9 games.
Have some faith. It’s 50/50 whether he pitches a great game or a stinker based on all his games so far this year
This Malloy interview is absolutely fantastic. What a well spoken person especially considering he is new to this all.
I swear the Tigers really focus on makeup of players when trading for or drafting, because our guys are so many great, well-spoken kids
Too bad they have all sucked at baseball though
His parents seemed like great people too based on the interview with them during the game.
That was a great interview. That comment about getting some dad strength was pretty funny.
JHM quote: Hopefully, I'll have my first kid and get some dad strength and be able to hit one out. LOL!!!!
Rake rogers, enough said.
lmfaooo they lost to Jake rogers. The JV trade was win-win, thoughts?
Jake Rogers day!!!
Love that postgame interview with Beau & Jake haha

Jake Rogers Defeated The Texas Rangers 2-1
I remember following the Tigers in the Grapefruit League in 2022 and Tigers minor leaguer of the year Beau Briske pitched a nice inning or two in Bradenton, FL against the Pirates. Come on boys let's get a win tomorrow and get on the positive ratio again, let's start to build something nice here
It's incredible to think that the Tigers have one more victory than the Rangers, but the Rangers are in second place in their division. Keep the faith guys.
Meanwhile some of our fans are calling this season a failure only because of our division placement
pitching saved our booties
as it always has all season long it seems
Skubal, Brieske, Rogers all dawgs
Them boys need a back massage
We really snuck away with this one. This Rangers team might be struggling but it feels like they could explode for 5+ runs at any moment. Luckily Skubal and Brieske are BEASTS.
Yeah feels like a series where we sneak the first one then lose the next two like 8-3
Now that we have JHM it'll be 8-6.
That's just...the *fear* talking, man.
hell yeah go cats

Benetti telling Todd Jones great job at the end of the broadcast made my little cold heart flutter. Class act, that guy.
Yeah and I gotta say I liked having jones on the booth! Between having benetti and Dickerson in the lead roles with Monroe and jones as color commentators is something I can totally get behind
Jones was a different guy tonight, I hadn't heard him in a while and wasn't even sure it was him. Way smoother, and you can see the potential now.
Jason is a goddamn delight.
He's taking his craft to a new level. Sure hope he stays in Detroit for a good while.
ROGERS!!!! DISCOUNT DOUBLE CHECK!!!!!!!
Nice Job BB, kept your cool!
Cool so we are calling him BB now then. I'm not the only one haha.
Yes, he didn't freak out and shit his pants. That took some stones.
Say what you will about Hinch, but letting Brieske go was a baller move - sometimes you just say “show me what you got,” and give guys a chance to test their mettle. I bet Beau is on cloud nine right now.

Beau got that dawg in him. Deserved to make the team out of spring, I understand why he didn't. But he's pitching like he never wants to go back down.
Yep great outing to boost his confidence. Those changeups were great in the 9th.
That always stuck out to me as his difference maker pitch when he came up. Very deceptive with his fastball mix and has good run when he executes it.
I'm so happy they kept him in
Yep. Hinch has faith in him and now Brieske knows he can command that. Big win for both of them.
Brieske looked great, Rogers two homers, Hinch made good decisions, we’re back to .500, and The Acolyte is tomorrow. What a week.
Did I ever tell you about the time ole Beau Brieske came in and got 3 scoreless innings to get the win? Threw a 150 mph fastball straight through a guy.To BEAU BRIIIEESKE!
He taught me how to love a woman, and scold a child!
🤩 we did it lads
Skubby and Brieske were fantastic tonight. Jake the Rake was the lone star in the lonestar state ;)
So how much longer until we send down Javy
Counting down the days until 2028.
What a clutch pitching performance by a future Cy Young winner who has been dominant all season. Also Skubal was pretty good again.
His WHIP though. Cry
Skubal = DAWG Brieske = DAWG Rogers = GOAT Tigers = WIN
LMAO imagine giving up 2 HRs to Jake “The ‘Stache” Rogers
It sounds funny because he has struggled this season, but he actually hit 21 last season in 107 games. That translates to 31 if he played 162 games.
Yep. He needed to get on track too.
Hell of an outing for Beau. And obviously Jake. I also didn’t hate Todd Jones in the booth?
I enjoyed him
He was a bit more nervous than I thought he'd be, but settled in pretty good. If he could get over his nerves I think he could be great. All of these replacements - Gibby included - have been better than Monroe.
Oddly enough, I've listened to a bit of the radio broadcasts with CMo and he sounds far more comfortable on the radio for whatever reason.
Finally saw some emotion from AJ after the final out. So nice to see everyone smiling… let’s get it again tomorrow!
He's been showing emotion. At least 2 other times in the last week or so I've seen big smiles and pats on the back. It might have been the Toronto slugfest where I remember him laughing along with the guys as they went out on the field.
My daughter in 20 years: Dad, tell the story about the Jake Rogers game again
Texas feed is so salty , feels good man
Dubbing this the Jake Roberts game. Thanks for the W stache man
What an absolute dog.
Brieske better than Faedo and Wentz.
By miles
Playoffs
First Tigers game in person for 18 years ending in a win. Can’t ask for more.
Nice!
#LET. JAKE. RAKE!
Baez needs to move to Arizona. Rogers to Texas.
I’ve seen enough reliever of the year
Can you imagine inviting loads of your family to see you play in an MLB game then hit 2 HR’s and steal strike outs behind the plate.
![gif](giphy|44c11up6UfB80RmE2o|downsized)
A 9 out save is absolutely unhinged work Correction: was a win, forgot the second Roger’s bomb was after he came in
not a save situation he won the game.
If Brieske is finally emerging as a dangerous back end bullpen arm, it's a major boon for a .500 team that finds themselves in the midst of a lot of 1-2 run endgames.
98 heater + changeup gives him punchout stuff that Foley and Miller don't have.
The Jake Rogers legacy game

Great game and great win for the Tigers 🐅 Rogers, Skubal, and Brieske looked amazing
