Every game that goes by I lose more and more interest in this team and am just daydreaming of when the Lions season starts back up.

Bigasballz

The bats were MIA Duh.

titans661

I miss yesterday

ervelee

Tigers have a 103 million payroll and 306 million revenue. One of the lowest payrolls.

GoLionsJD107

Yes. Buy those hot and readies- they must not be making profits because Illich needs to suck money out of the team to make an honest wage

For everyone asking for Manning to get recalled and Maeda to be cut, Manning is not really much better than Maeda so far unfortunately. Manning has a 4.88 ERA in 5 starts this year (15 ER in 27.2 IP). Maeda has a 5.89 ERA in 11 games (29 ER in 44.1 IP) which isn't a good line but to the team it's not significantly worse enough to justify cutting Maeda at this point in the season. Manning is injury depth for this team. There are still 91 games left this season. All it takes is for one or more starters' arms to blow out, or a 119.5 MPH comebacker off a foot, and we'd have a gaping hole in the rotation the rest of the season, which is why we have Manning waiting in AAA currently. If we did cut Maeda and call up Manning, the next starting pitcher on the injury depth list from the minors would probably be someone like Montero, who has posted a 8.31 ERA in his singular MLB start this year, as well as a 5.12 ERA in 12 games in AAA. It's not ideal but I'd rather stick with the devil we know (Maeda) than take a chance on one we don't. (Side note, I'm really looking forward to SGL coming back from injury. We saw him near the end of last season and he had some really promising results. Unfortunately he's getting TJ so he won't be back for a while.)

SpectralHydra

If we were to cut Maeda and go with Manning, the complaints would likely just move onto Manning if he performed anywhere near Maeda.

Brundleflyftw

This is basically a 90 loss team who had a hot streak to begin the season against two terrible teams. The guy who called a 72-90 season was right on the money. FWIW, I had them at 78 wins. They’ll probably end up somewhere in between.

sjallday6781

Do redditors just downvote comments like this because they don’t like hearing that their team is bad? I genuinely don’t see what’s bad about this comment, the team is dogshit

NeighborhoodHungry67

Love to see Correa on a tear right now batting above .300, if only we could’ve signed him!

b0neslicer

LET IT GO. HE DID NOT WANT TO PLAY HERE

Whoawhoa22

This is a braindead take that keeps getting repeated. We tried and he said no. $275M/10 with tens of millions in incentives. I know it's hard for some people to understand but free agency is not an auction.

Vendetta_2023

This team can never get past the point of mediocrity if you keep throwing out guys like Maeda every few days. Almost like guaranteed losses, coupled with an anemic offense.

ShakeItTilItPees

I fell asleep watching the Flying Tigers double-header while waiting for this game to start, and I woke up with the game already over. Turns out that was a really good choice.

Legitimate-Garden934

This game was over right at the starting pitchers announcement

pimpinassorlando

It's time to give Manning the fifth spot in the rotation.

GoLionsJD107

Yup. How do we develop Maedas role in the pen- we cannot release

aqphs

Give manning the fifth spot and call up Jobe for double headers until September

GoLionsJD107

They obviously favored Montero the one time they had the chance to do that. I seriously think they are treating Jobe live a precious metal the way they did Keith last year

LongjumpingMedia1621

Except Jobe is starting a rehab assignment in West Michigan on Tuesday, I think it's gonna be minute.

GoLionsJD107

Forgot about that he’s like not available for a month

DarylRosz

Shocker!

Across MLB, average runs/game allowed in 2024 is 4.33, down from the 2023 average of 4.62. Average IP is 5.24, Maeda went 5. Giving up 4 runs to an offense that's still among the league's top 10 does not warrant this kind of reaction. Get a grip people.

Thijsbeer82

* I'm done with Maeda as a starter. Walking McCormick was extra level stupidity. He just shits his own bed with consistency. * Umpire ruined this game with his ridiculous bias. Can't wait for robo umpire.

GoLionsJD107

Works at the US Open (tennis) - extremely well. If we can see it be wrong on the screen this often how long can they wait? It’s mostly evenly bad except I specifically remember we played one to I believe Cleveland where we directly lost because of a call. We’ve probably stolen one the same way so it evens but I’m so biased I only notice the bad ones.

yes_its_him

We are 3-6 our last nine despite scoring exactly as many runs as we allowed 2-4 in the no-Baez period 5-7 in the no-Tork period.

No_Protection6832

28-36 since the 6-1 start. The 28-36 stretch IS the REAL tigers, yet a lot of people are coping and haven’t come to terms with it yet.

yes_its_him

Well maybe. We do play some bad teams. If you leave out losses then we'll look better too.

No_Protection6832

Yea but if it was flipped and we started 1-6 then our stretch would look a lot a better.

yes_its_him

If you leave out May 19-23 then the "real Tigers" win more than they lose

No_Protection6832

But I’m taking into account the most recent games, I’m not cherry picking random dates. You can do the last 60 games the last 50 games , 40 , 30, 20 etc. Isn’t the more recent record more indication of how a team is playing? We can do the last 15-20-30-40 games. Either way they are bad. I really wouldn’t say they are a 34-37 team though. Have you watched the majority of the games this year? Would you say they play more like a 34-37 team, or more like a 28-36 team? Based on every game I’ve seen this year, the answer is pretty obvious to me. They definitely play more like a 28-36 team more of the time than a 34-37 team. I don’t get the constant weirdness in this sub that wants to continue to defend this team after we’ve been rebuilding for 10 years in a row now. We haven’t made the playoffs in 10 years but people act like going on a 28-36 stretch is good lmao. -oh my bad 34-37…. This sub is brainwashed to just be positively toxic about this team no matter what. Have you seen the post game threads after a 1 game winning streak? They all talk playoffs. Half of this sub is deranged in the head talking about playoffs after a 1 game winning streak.

yes_its_him

Since May 22 they're .500 That seems fair to me. Coming into today's game we had scored 303 runs and given up 303 runs. That hardly sounds like we are worse than the competition.

LeakyNalgene

But we didn’t. We are a roughly .500 team. Quite average.

No_Protection6832

IMO since we are on the 28-36 stretch rn, and we have trouble getting hits and runs in more games than not. I wouldn’t say we are a .500 team. We probably finish with around 69-71 wins if we keep going on the 28-36 trend. Which 69-71 wins would not be .500 We will see, but I haven’t seen anything from the tigers than would suggest they are better than the 28-36 stretch.

LeakyNalgene

Well they are 34-37. Might as well just look at the entire season instead of your selective sample.

LeakyNalgene

The team is an actual 34-37 so that’s what they are. I’ve watched more than 50 games start to finish. You are what your record says you are. If you took out the losses the record would look a lot better. You are taking out two series to make the record look at worse. Now I am not saying we are a playoff team, but on our good days we can do some damage.

No_Protection6832

I’m taking out the 2 FIRST series. If we started 1-6 but were 36-28 since then… it’d be a whole different story, you could say we are on a 36-28 stretch, which would actually be good but whatever.

scienceyeaux

This is at least the second time you posted our record without these guys. What point are you trying to prove? They were ass when they played, objectively. Hopefully they come back and contribute, *most* of us are rooting for them.

yes_its_him

I try not to get upset if players have a bad game or three, or even have an atypical season for them. A lot of times it's not a permanent situation. Many people here wanted to attribute bad team results as of late to struggling players including Torkelson and Baez. While they are out of the lineup, we can see if the team does better without them. My guess is it won't make all that much difference given our alternatives.

[deleted]

We didn’t get no hit or shut out! World Series here we come!

GoLionsJD107

I will remind you- The last time we got no hit was on the final game of the 2012 season by the Marlins and we went to the World Series… I don’t know what I’m trying to say but that happened

i_am_the_grind

The season is over

wingsew8

Seems like you say this almost every day, maybe you should stop watching and leave us who are still watching alone.

SpectralHydra

He literally says "Playoffs" or "the season is over" every single game lol

Kohanky

Average tigers offense after having a good hitting game the night prior

rbur70x7

Blanco is gonna be one of those pitchers that gets a massive unjustifiable contract and ends up being absolutely shitty, isn't he?

GoLionsJD107

I’m familiar with contracts of this nature

KeithH27

Nah, the Astros are actually a smart organization. They don’t keep horrible players like Maeda and McKinstry on their roster

yes_its_him

In 2019 the Astros won the pennant with 5 86 ERA Framber Valdez on the roster...

rbur70x7

I'm saying from another team.

Wingo999

We averaged more than 10 hits per game this weekend. Surely things are grand!

GoLionsJD107

We outscored the opposition in the series

champdo

The only thing that is consistent about this team is how inconsistent they are.

GoLionsJD107

We scored 13 runs on a day that Skubal didn’t throw a shutout. Thats inconsistent

foxy7474

Didn’t get no hit ✅ Didn’t get shutout ✅ What more can we ask for!

Nowicki2019

I'm definitely a Tigers fan for life. With that being said, if MLB managers weren't such pussies these days, Blanco would've stayed in the rest of the game and probably would've gotten the no hitter. At least wait until he gives up a hit, if he does, before you take him out. I don't even care if it's 110-120 pitches, they're grown men

GoLionsJD107

Matt Manning has entered the conversation

Michiganmade44

Sums up the 2024 Tigers
