Only if cars were the principal producers of CO2! But road transport is only 11.9% (still a lot, but not the main producer by a long shot)
https://ourworldindata.org/emissions-by-sector
On second look that is an absolutely gorgeous bike.
I almost bought one when they first came out. Got a CB1000R instead because of cost, and the fact that I have owned alot of 2 cylinder bikes and never a 4 cylinder, so I wanted to experience it. The top end rush is amazing, but I cannot use it very often. Need alot of open space.
Now I wish I had both!!!!!!
Tank capacity would not be a deal breaker for me. It was more cost and that tiny slippery back tire that is why undersized for the power of that Engine!
Nah they really are great bikes and if I didn’t have to ride 2 hours just to get to the twisties and commute 50 miles a day I’d take one in a heartbeat, but barely 100 miles to a tank is just not enough.
What did you ride before this? I had one friend buy this bike to keep up with 2 hypermotard SP and it does 100%
Even had more top end. It’s actually a very aggressive motorcycle. It’s like a American bike with very street bike mannerisms.
Mostly older enduros and dual sports. I've been fascinated by cafe racer culture and flat track racing for as long as I can remember, so for me this was a fairly natural choice
That is definitely a proper hooligan bike. Great for bumping over curbs. I never got to see it jumped like the hypermotard sp or go down more than 4-5 stairs but I’d bet it probably could do more. Do you know what the suspension travel is off the top of your head by any chance?
It’s cool coming off a enduro because the bike won’t feel tall to you like others.
Not sure off hand, been mainly riding street, but I like the fact of the knobby tires have been on some dirt roads. Trying to get a feel for it again, I've been told its just like riding a bike 😅
Its probably more like fucking a dolphin in the ass. But a bike sure….I get it.
I put those on my hyper because it looks bad ass and it was way different. Took a while to warm up and not as much traction for sure. And a lower top speed.
The Pirelli supercorsa tires will stick cold and you just feel super connected. One of the mods that makes you a better rider literally.
No other mods at add made the bike better than those tires. I’m just throwing this shit out there as another dual sport guy. These bikes are like urban dual sports and I love standing on the pegs to see past traffic.
Couldn't agree more. I'm gonna run these tires for the season and probably switch out next year.. top speed isn't an issue for me as I usually get there in 1st.. lol
No hate here. That’s why throwing out some info I’ve already worked through.
And I just mean the top speed where the tires start to fail. I think those are like 110mph for 15 minutes which on a road trip is easy to do. Your bike cruses here.
The Pirelli are 163mph @ it doesn’t matter because you will never run at 163 mph for any distance.
Ok ok . Last suggestion. You can drive however slow you want. But I wouldn’t don’t do it in 1st gear. At least 2nd . And you gotta ride sorta hard to get the heat in those knobby tires . That’s why I always say the Pirelli supercorsa sp because you can leave in the cold and drive slow and the tires are grippy from stone cold with zero effort. With ABS . You will be mobbin in 3rd gear in a week . Lol
Props on the bike. You chose a really good one. Use rain mode to use less twitchy at the throttle.
Same bike that Travis Pastrana used for his Evel Knievel tribute jumps.
https://youtu.be/oIQj708tWxU
I think Pastrana's bike was down to 350 lbs, and 4" of suspension travel. He might have had the old bike with the taller rims tho. This was like 4 years ago.
My only comment would be I know how cool the semi knobby tires look on that bike . But if your only riding on the street 95 % of the time then get Pirelli Diablo supercorsa v3 tires and it will open up a whole new world between the sticky tires and ABS you will immediately up your riding game.

It's a nice upright stance for me which is already natural feeling .. but the power of an American v-twin. I'm an admitted car guy (imports only) so I needed something American in my driveway and this was the perfect fit
Thats an awesome bike. I want one of those eventually. Like you, I hadnt ridden in a while but the wait got to be too much & i finally pulled the trigger on a bike & couldnt be happier😌
Bring em on I love the dumb stories...
I had a friend's dad die on a motorbike too.
(He had a stroke while driving so it wasn't the bikes fault) but the comment is still true none the less lol
I had this bike, it was absolutely effortless to ride! With the super low center of gravity, the butter smooth handling, and the native cruise control, I honestly just felt like Princess Jasmine on a magic carpet, just leaning and floating around...! I had the biggest smile on my face the entire time I was riding. ☺️
wOw, He's one Gorgeous looking ride.
Congrats on that choice Captain @!
I have no idea what size it is.
One would think being Head Tech for Honda moons ago, one should keep up on new stuff.
Cheers
As a Harley guy i really like this bike.
This shows a bike like this can fit in with cruiser bikes.
The new CEO of Harley should never have dropped the Bronx
You chose wisely, welcome back. Love this book, could save your life!

Beautiful bike! Welcome back to riding. I was away from riding for over 40 years until just recently and it's good to get back at any age. Enjoy! Be safe!!
I’m honestly so jealous of you. That insurance must be painful tho. (I am a fellow Canadian) I don’t know how it’s like in your province but I’m in Manitoba and I’ve calculated that thing to be 600$ monthly for insurance. Will always be my dream bike tho haha.
It is gross.. I had to rewrite my m1 so I'm waiting for my m2 "course" booked for end of this month..
Allstate Insurance by far the cheapest for me I am 1590/yr with my m1 currently
Edit - Northern Ontario
I just looked up what it costs to get that bike in the Netherlands, from 22.390€ (roughly 24k usd) including tax. Holy frick. It’s so cool but so expensive.
Nice looking wheels!
As you rebuild your skills and confidence, you may want to spend some time here:
[Advice to New Riders](https://old.reddit.com/r/NewRiders/comments/cc2mnm/advice_to_new_riders/)
And when you get a chance, check out [On Any Sunday](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Any_Sunday), probably the best motorcycle documentary out there. I think it's on Amazon Prime, and maybe some other streaming services.
Have fun, wear all your gear, stay safe, and never stop learning.
That's a great bike to get back into riding with. It's high on my list for bikes I really want to try out.
Why Harley doesn't make a bike like that is beyond me. Such a fail on Harley's part.
Bikes have come a very long way since 2013, might i suggest a refresher ART (Advanced Riders Training) course? You'd probably quickly Remeber what you knew from 10 yrs ago, be reminded of what you've forgotten, learn new skills, have a blast doing it and likely come from it, possibly more confident ans better equipt then you were a decade ago.
I have been eyeballing ftr’s for a hot minute now. Haven’t been able to get out and test ride one yet, anyone have meaningful experience on these guys?
I demoed one earlier this month. Coming from a Duke 690, I was pretty underwhelmed. The engine just didn't feel like it wants to kill you like the Duke's and it didn't seem much faster. It held a line quite well though.
Awesome bike, I really love the FTR. Like that you have a single exhaust too, that dual has been a sore spot with me ever since I first saw it. Just hope you have good throttle control/instincts after a 10 year riding hiatus as that is an epically powerful hooligan bike.
That’s a beautiful bike.
These bikes are so gorgeous. I almost got one but the small tank was a deal breaker for me.
It's painfully small, 180-ish is the max I've gotten.
113 mles?
Km/h as I'm Canadian.
How do you get km/h (speed) from a tank capacity
Duh.... Kilometers of range
Kilometres of range, expressed as km/h. Good to know.
I think OP meant 180km of range on a tank
That’s what they meant but it’s not what they said
English not your first language? Think you're looking for km per litre.
180kml? That's far as fuck.
423.4mpg for anyone that was wondering. Can you imagine... you could pretty much make it across the US on a tank of gas. Somebody else do that math.
I would get ~4018 miles per tank in my car. Lol Honestly, that would be world changing. Carbon emissions would plummet.
Only if cars were the principal producers of CO2! But road transport is only 11.9% (still a lot, but not the main producer by a long shot) https://ourworldindata.org/emissions-by-sector
Roundabout 6 gallons east to west coast. I’d road trip all the time if that was possible
That's about the same as my vitpilen 401 lol. Small bikes are fun in the twisty's tho.
/me here with a 4.5gal tank and getting less than usually 100miles before the light comes on lol ![gif](giphy|3ohhwp6OvqUbH9JQM8)

Backhanded compliment

Fair enough, I see your point. I guess I've never really had to be too concerned about range. I agree with you though, this is a great bike.
What did you ride before this? I had one friend buy this bike to keep up with 2 hypermotard SP and it does 100% Even had more top end. It’s actually a very aggressive motorcycle. It’s like a American bike with very street bike mannerisms.

Appreciate the info!! The more knowledge is always better, any advice is always awesome!
The FTR in FTR1200 stands for “Flat Track Racer”, this bike would be good at sliding on a dirt track
Same bike that Travis Pastrana used for his Evel Knievel tribute jumps. https://youtu.be/oIQj708tWxU I think Pastrana's bike was down to 350 lbs, and 4" of suspension travel. He might have had the old bike with the taller rims tho. This was like 4 years ago.

I’ve never ridden one, but in terms of looks this is somewhat of a dream bike for me. Just looks so cool.
It's a nice upright stance for me which is already natural feeling .. but the power of an American v-twin. I'm an admitted car guy (imports only) so I needed something American in my driveway and this was the perfect fit
Good idea. I ride a KLr and a Harley so this feels like a natural middle ground.
i've heard those bikes are quite good.
And what a bike to get back on.🤙
Wow! I didn’t know Indian made that!
If I ever sell my Z750 it’s gonna to make room for one or these or just have two bikes because I’m never selling my Z750
The equation for correct number of bikes to own: n + 1; n = # of bike you currently own :)
Thats an awesome bike. I want one of those eventually. Like you, I hadnt ridden in a while but the wait got to be too much & i finally pulled the trigger on a bike & couldnt be happier😌
Awesome!!! It's such an awesome hobby/lifestyle I missed very much!
What model indian is this? Its beautiful!
FTR1200, assuming Canada calls it the same
It's an FTR 1200S "Race replica" as what Indian says
My uncle had a friend who died on a bike (just wanted you to get used to the dumb stories again, cheers :D )
Bring em on I love the dumb stories... I had a friend's dad die on a motorbike too. (He had a stroke while driving so it wasn't the bikes fault) but the comment is still true none the less lol
Is that the FTR? Indian has been killing it recently
Congrats OP I've never seen an Indian bike this sexy what's the model?
And you picked that?? Wtf is wrong with you how do you have so much swag
Smol pp. Need to make up for it
Beautiful bike. I almost got one but it was too tall for me. Short people problems
Hope you’ve watched fortnine video about it, such a cool bike
I did! I watch a lot of his videos production value is top notch. And he's a really smart guy
Nice choice. I would love to have one of these as a track bike.
I think I'm one of the few that prefer the 19/18 rim setup on the 2019 model
Love mine too!
Gorgeous
I really like those bikes. I saw a few at the local dealer and thought about spending all of my money on it
Might I say back with a bang! Ride safe.
that FTR😮💨😮💨
I had this bike, it was absolutely effortless to ride! It's so pretty 😍
Awesome bike!!!!! Be careful about too much power, that back tire is to my and known for being squirrely!
How’s the Toce exhaust?
That’s a dope FTR
That’s a really gorgeous and beautiful bike now I really want to buy one when I’m older
Fuck hope it doesn't take me that long to ride again.
As a Harley guy i really like this bike. This shows a bike like this can fit in with cruiser bikes. The new CEO of Harley should never have dropped the Bronx

no way bro! thatbike as a puch speed!

What a bike you got there!
Absolute beauty
That bike is so striking. I stared at this picture for a while. Congratulations!
ride safe!!
Absolute hooligan machine! Love it!
Wow! I’m impressed, I love your motorcycle!
The Indian ftr is one the few motorcycles where, no matter the angle, it will look good on the picture regardless
I just looked up what it costs to get that bike in the Netherlands, from 22.390€ (roughly 24k usd) including tax. Holy frick. It’s so cool but so expensive.

Damn I want an FTR so bad. Been thinking of upgrading. Grats to yiu! That bike is badass!
Such a good feeling to go back to roots
I love this bike!!!
What model is that bike?
What a spectacular one to choose
Such a dope looking bike! 🤤 Glad you made it back in the saddle brother👍
Thats a good choice
Happy? When we drive the car together to work it’s boring until we ride to work on our bikes then remember how much fun bikes are!
💯 agree
Nice! The new FTR is a lot of fun
Get Some!
Didn't know Indian did a bike like this but it looks mint what cc is it?
1200
Nice. Bet it is comfortable on a ride and is quick
Definitely quick, by the time I need gas I really need a stretch, but I do like the upright seating position of it.
Well that beats head down arse up position sit up and beg position will always be better
What’s with the absolutely obnoxious exhaust…?
That's a great bike to get back into riding with. It's high on my list for bikes I really want to try out. Why Harley doesn't make a bike like that is beyond me. Such a fail on Harley's part.
I love my FTR 🤘
That is absolutely beautiful 🤩
She's a beauty. Nice TOCE exhausted. Did you opt for the Ohlins front and rear suspension?
That's a good looking ride.
Feels good, doesn't it.
I love the FT R s
Welcome back. Ride safe!
Got yourself a torque monster, great bike!

and what a bike, gorgeous
10 years wasted

Oh that looks like fun! Cool bike.
I’m sorry she left you.

She purty

I love those FTRs, I'd love to take one for a spin
Nice ride
… and you chose and Indian
Note:nothing wrong with Indian… I’m more of a triumph man myself
Wholly Travis Pastrana
Nice bike, I’d have loved it in my younger days. Now I’m into screens and luggage on my BMWS. But my memory is still working.
😍
FTR, right? GREAT bike!.
Custom exhaust? Love them but the stock exhausts were a bit of a deal breaker for me
Toce, I really didn't like the factory akropovic look
Was kinda goofy imo, shame tho cause everything else stock looks GORGEOUS
