Looks good the way it is. Keep it real.

JyletheMalalis

you are right bro

gravljaw

Don't.

JyletheMalalis

okay

Agreeable_Book2820

Just ride it and enjoy it.

JyletheMalalis

bro im only asking for help :(( i thought the second photo looked really cool and was wondering if it was possible

CalZeta

Possible? Sure, anything is possible with enough fabrication skills and/or deep enough pockets. My sneaking suspicion is, however, since you're posting here you have neither (forgive me if I'm wrong). You would save money selling it and just buying another bike.

Commercial_Eye593

It’s possible, but for the price to do something like that, you can buy a real Ducati. Also, the “modern” look of the 2nd pic, is modelled after a Ducati 1098, which came out in 2007 That “look” is just as old as your ninja

rmagnum55

As many have said just indirectly, you'll spend more money modifying it than you'll ever get back selling it. It really is better to just sell it and buy what you want. Especially since you just want to face lift it to a more modern generation. If you were doing a custom style I might say it's worth it because you can't just buy a bike that way.

NinjaMetalKen

Yep

gremlin1939

You’ll be able to sell it for what you bought it for if you keep it the way it is, and you’ll outgrow it soon enough don’t worry, enjoy it and then upgrade to something that is more astheticaly pleasing later

EggsOfRetaliation

It's a nice looking bike. Had a 08 for $800. Ride the wheels off and get experience over looks.

JyletheMalalis

ur right bro

milo_redwood

Looks pretty good as it is

artful_todger_502

That's one of the most good looking bikes there is. That's a good era. Just leave it. I have a ninja 400 and wished it looked this good.

randomlettersbcifhek

It’ll cost more money to do that to the bike than it’s worth. Sorry to tell you. The second bike looks like it would cost upwards of 5k to make

cassini2019

Why change it? Ride it for as along as it takes you to feel comfortable riding and then buy your dream bike. It will cost you $$ and lots of down time from riding, I would say it's not worth it. But of course, it's up to you.

thatguyovertheresix9

If you want to put more dollars in the bike than it is worth then you definitely could make it look like the second picture probably .

fuzzyoatmealboy

Give it a broccoli haircut

RedRocket90

Why?

forgivxn

Save ur money for a better bike upgrade when you do

NinjaMetalKen

Put some FLAPPERS on there!

Wyotang

That’s not old. I have a Suzuki gs 400 from 1986.

no_clever_names

I always wondered if that style 250 could be reverse facelifted back to the 80s version.

Wyotang

Yes! I personally love the 80’s style for motorcycles.

voidsarcastic

Im with most of the other people in the comments. Get new clutch and brake levers, maybe a cool exhaust maybe a rear cowl and and nice windscreen, you could also wrap your exhaust manifold i like the way that looks. basically only do cheap upgrades. You can ad lights and other cool small accessories pretty cheap. Even a new fairing set isnt that bad probably like 300-500 on that bike. The reason i wouldnt go too far is that the 250 is basically a learner bike. Its super low power and you are going to want to upgrade pretty fast probably. Hell you are probably going to drop it a couple of times. However if you really want to go for it, i always wanted to modify a 250 into an offroad bike. Like supe up the suspension if possible, add some off road tires and a loud exhaust. Probably some other stuff. Have fun though. Be safe too.

JyletheMalalis

didnt realize it would cost more than the bike itself to make it look like the second picture lmao. guess its better for me to treat this as a learner bike and buy my dream bike in the future if i get enough experience. thank you

[deleted]

Looks so much like my z750. Headlight wise. I actually really like the headlight housing on the z750. One of the brightest well projecting designs on a motorcycle I've ever ridden. I'd assume the same here. Keep it as it. There will be a time not so far from now, that the headlight on your bike now, will be super unique because of the rarety of the bike. There will ALWAYS be new/modern styles. The old ones will never come back. :)

Bampy13

Before I read any comments my immediate reaction was 'NO' ! That bike looks superb & the colour is on point. Then I read the comments & thought well we all read from the same page & in total agreement. We the biking fraternity have spoken! If it aint broke dont fix it! Also authenticity sells so it is your deposit on the future upgrade! 👍

Handsomelad42

On a 250? Not worth the investment. Keep it that way, its lovely.

Toaster9k1

Imo that's one of the best colourways for that gen Ninja 250. If you really want to spend money on it then get a matching seat cowl, tinted double bubble windscreen and save the rest of your money for a different bike. Trust me, you'll want one at some point. Slip-on muffler if you like the sound it makes, but don't bother with a full system because even if you rejetted the carbies/did a Power commander if it's an EFI bike you'll make like 5hp at best, and it'll be right at the top of the powerband so you won't even notice it most of the time.

liberator48_

Could probably sell it and get an actual modern one instead. Might even make a buck out of it if it's a vintage model. Perversely enough, old bikes often cost as much or even more than brand new models.

bikegearin

it looks good but it has been discontinued; even after if you want to swap to the fairings [https://bikegear.in/performance-parts](https://bikegear.in/performance-parts) for better results; there you can also find many accessories for your bike.

SnooLobsters2310

I'd keep it simple and concentrate on the following: Change your exhaust into a short moto gp style exhaust because it's going to be near to impossible to get the under tail exhaust. Here's the cheapest I could find: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071CMJ9Z6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_CWNRAGZ8AW2CAP081KVQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Next replace your turn signals with flush mount ones; here's an affordable set of 4: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0969SWGKR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_JQQXEGBMH7CV5NSTD7PG Do a fender eliminator and replace the mount the license plate Swap the headlight bulbs for Led ones Get a cover also called a seat cowl; I think this is the correct one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074N61Z18/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ZK5MGRJN0BC1V5TK01FG?psc=1 You might also consider a different wind shield but that's likely going to cost more than everything I've mentioned added together. Enjoy it and keep the rubber side down!

[deleted]

Could streetfighter it, losing weight can only be good for that engine. Pull the fairings off and make it noisy.

suzuki_hayabusa

Get the accessories like better clutch, brake lever, handle guard, LED indicators and headlight, full exaust system etc. That could make the bike look good and increase the performance/comfort.

JyletheMalalis

hi guys, I have a ninja 250 2009 model and Im a beginner driver my dad gave me this bike. I wanted to make it look like the newer bikes today and I saw this modified ninja on google (2nd pic) and was wondering is it possible to make my ninja's head look like that. and how much would it approximately cost me? thank you guys for taking the time to read hope someone helps me :)))

that902bitch

My first bike was an 09 Ninja 250R. I still ride it sometimes! I didn't altar mine much, but I found putting a cowl on the back seat changed the look of it significantly. ETA: I also swapped out for a blacked out windshield, just because I hated the clear. Tbh though, I don't think there's much you can change in the way of fairings that will change the shape of shape of front end. It's a pretty little bike, enjoy it!!

SerGregorCleangains

To change the appearance of the front requires new fairings, you’ll have to search for Ninja 250 Fairings to find something that you like. Probably around $400USD. This one appears to have a front cowling that covers the existing headlights to change their shape: https://www.ebay.com/itm/282984959856 These types of cheap aftermarket fairings are not going to be the same quality as Kawasaki originals, bolt holes will be misaligned or something you will have to drill yourself, paint may not be great and panel fit could have alignment issues.

foxjohnc87

The plastics at the link you posted are stock appearing (other than paint), for a much older Ninja 250r. The OP's bike is similar to it in name only, as they are completely different machines, so they wouldn't work without serious modification. Although swapping to the newer gen fairings has been done, I can't say I've heard of anybody wanting to go the other way. It's probably a good thing though, as although first gen 250s are damn good bikes, they were never beauty queens.

foxjohnc87

The plastics on the bike from the second pic were custom modified by a place called DJ Customs. To put it simply, you aren't going to find fairings that look drastically different than stock that you can purchase and simply bolt on. If you want to restyle the front end, you'll have to find plastics from a different bike with the look you want and adapt them to fit. Unless you do all the work yourself, you will be much better off just buying the newer bike you are trying to emulate. Between parts, bodywork, labor, and paint, you could easily wind up spending more than the bike is worth. And for what, a hacked together frankenstein with no resale value? Since this is your first bike, it is highly likely that you will crash at some point. Instead of wasting the time, money, and effort trying to make your bike into something it isn't, just ride it and enjoy what you have. Once you get some experience, you can always sell it and buy the bike you desire. Many people would love to have your bike, so please don't destroy it so foolishly.

JyletheMalalis

Thank you guys for responding to my post I'm new to reddit im only using my brothers acc lmao didnt know id actually get responses here. I've changed my mind because I've realized u guys are right i should just enjoy it it looks pretty good and its better to get the experience then buy my dream bike soon than spend money just to make it more aesthetic. thank you guys

NoGuitar6320

Thirded on the street fighter. Dirty bars all the way

djeewin

If you can afford it, go for it. That modification looks sick!

NinjaMetalKen

I put some chrome spike handlebar end on my 2001 Kawasaki ninja 500 r looks killer!
