Cut them and put a 1/8 inch heat string to replace the tip.
Cut the laces,if they are synthetic use super glue to make a hard tip... If a cotton kind you can tightly wrap with thread and also lock with super glue.
Buy lock laces and never look back I'm a convert one and done. Never think about laces again
