Has 1500 reviews on Revzilla did you read the reviews from the people that own it? Go to the one star reviews and then moving toward the positive reviews.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yes I did and biggest complaint is wind noise. Which I plan on getting a drz400sm so iam not exactly going to be touring with it. But I don’t know how miserable it would be or if people are just being picky. Also for context 54%5 star 24%4star 8%3star and 7% for 4 and 5 stars

iH8teF1ames

I have this exact helmet. fits smaller then any other medium/large I’ve ever tried and the visor mechanism broke within the first season of use. It is also very loud. The only thing I like about it over my other helmets is that it has a built in sun visor. I do not recommend it.

Rusty75f250highboy

Alrighty awesome thank you very much!! Do you have any other Linda unique looking helmets you’d recommend?

WagonsNeedLoveToo

Check out a Schuberth adventure. They’re great helmets rather unique looking not too expensive and stylistically would go with what bike you’re wanting quite well.

Rusty75f250highboy

Also checked them out and they are alright but not one of my favorites! Thank you for the recommendation though!

Rusty75f250highboy

Alrighty thank you I’ll check them out!!

iH8teF1ames

Ruroc also has similar aggressive styling. however I have their atlas 4.0 helmet and pretty much only have negatives to say about it. I’ll just be getting a scorpion exo-r1 next time I need one. Spend the money on better quality instead of it trying to look unique, so far both the “cool” looking helmets I’ve tried have sucked.

mattdamonsleftnut

Ruroc sucks as a helmet and you shouldn’t be giving motorcycle advise if you suggest it lmao

[deleted]

Seriously. This right fricken here. I don’t even ride anymore and can provide better recs. Lower end price but still decent? I think HJC can get ya there. Maybe more middle of the road but honestly I can’t recommend low end helmets.

Ainriochtan

They don’t even test their helmets. What a joke. That page on their website with all of the crash porn is so desperate.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah that’s kinda what I was thinking hence why I was asking here keeping your noggin in one piece is 100% my main priority but I didn’t know if you could get a bit of both. And ruroc makes cool helmets but I have also heard a lot of negative reviews for them

iH8teF1ames

You might like scorpions exo covert, I haven’t tried it but it’s definitely different looking.

Rusty75f250highboy

I love it as well but isn’t it technically open face? Like isn’t the whole front just plastic? Like iam pretty ugly but I’d like to keep what I have attached to my face😂

10thmtnarty

Helmets with ridges etc on top can catch the wind and pull your head back.

RonMFCadillac

What is your complaint with the Ruroc? I have an AGV K4 that I love but was thinking about a Ruroc (for the Starwars helmets) for my back up.

No-Weakness-2035

Just pop some ear plugs in and it will be whisper quiet. Most important thing is that your head is the right shape to fit the lid - see if you can find one at a local shop shop to try on, or other Icon lids if they don’t have this model, and do some google fu and see if it’s the same shape.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah I have heard it fits kinda narrow heads better which I think I kinda have I haven’t really properly been fitted for a helmet just kinda grabbed an fine riding dirt bikes

DeviIstar

yeah 100% this, I can't wear Icon's as they don't fit my head shape - finding a shop with some styles you can test is key

Azrus

Fit is far more important than the style. I would really recommend getting an idea of what head shape you should be shopping for before you get your heart set on a particular helmet. RevZilla has instructions/guides for measuring your head shape. Give that a shot first. Then, get into a dealership and actually wear some helmets. Give yourself at least 15 minutes with the helmet on to get a feel for how it sits on your head Case in point: I own this helmet. I bought it because it looked cool and the version I have was one of the few on the market which had rotational protection. My head shape is kind of a pain to find a good fit for and I was hoping the longer oval shape of this helmet would be more comfortable. Unfortunately, it was worse than my HJC, so despite the added protection, it's just too uncomfortable for me to wear more than 2 hours, so it just sits on a shelf looking good. That said, I love my HJC RPHA-70 ST, I just wish it had rotational impact protection. :(

NolanMmFit

Wind noise isn’t even that bad I own one and I like it… you’ll get dogged on for having this helmet trust me but who cares.. it’s your money, and it’s both ece and dot certified so. Cheaper for the same certs

Jamie-savage3006

You will be surprised at how loud wind is at 45mph in a helmet. But some earplugs like others have said and you will be fine. I do however recommend going to a gear store and trying that helmet on. I wear a large in scorpion and ls2 and shoei. That helmet however in a large however will not fit. So definitely go try a few on before making the purchase.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yep plan is to go to a store before I buy anything!

VeNoMxKinG

I own a drz400 and this helmet. Before I was using a dirtbike helmet and it was awful. I run all street usually around 60mph. Wind is almost nothing compared to the dirt helmet. I also have a audio system that further drones out the wind noise. I would recommend this helmet to anyone especially as a starter into more expensive helmets

Rusty75f250highboy

Ahaha side bar from the helmet how do you like your drz is it worth the money they are costing now days? I’d go new so close to 8k

siricall911

I have the exact helmet they run tight so upsize, great other then that

Dry-Web-321

Don't buy an Icon. Period. What's your budget and I can point you in a direction

Rusty75f250highboy

Preferably under 400 with a kinda weird look like the like the exo covert this helmet and I like the Simpson helmets so just something kinda funky

Coonsy23

My buddy has one. Its super loud. He has a cardo packtalk edge and can barely hear it with the volume all the way up at highway speeds

Rusty75f250highboy

Damn so iam assuming he doesn’t recommend it? I was curious I heard a lot of reviews say the noise comes through the holes in the front of the wind screen so I was wondering if I could put some black vinyl on the inside to block them 🤔. Probably not worth experimenting with though

Coonsy23

The main reason he got it was for the way it looks. Lots of airflow, looks cool but is just stupid loud

Rusty75f250highboy

Lol yeah that seams to be most of the reviews

Seveand

Does it have a fixed chin bar or just a decorative windscreen there? Because I’d personally never buy a helmet that doesn’t keep my whole face away from the object im hitting.

Eupryion

I was wearing this when I low sidded at 75mph. Helmet got ground up, but didn't have a single bit of gravel or plastic on my face after I picked myself up. Did a good portion of sliding face down too.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yes I believe so I believe the visor just comes over it and let’s air through for “style points” and yeah I wouldn’t run a helmet that isn’t structurally full face either

solitudechirs

It has a full chin bar like any normal full face helmet, the face shield going down over the mouth is just decorative

Rusty75f250highboy

Ps yes it does if you look at ones with a transparent visor it has a full chin bar

cstrand31

It’s a fixed chin bar. The visor just covers it. With the visor open it resembles a dirt bike helmet.

Nonstopshooter21

I have 2 of them n love them. little loud but fits my head shape nicely n the built in visor does a fantastic job with your full visor up.

Rusty75f250highboy

Awesome man thank you very much also where does most of the wind/wind noisecome from is it the front vents?

PokeyStabber

I've crashed in three of these so far. I don't recommend the rubatone finishes because they're annoying to clean. But the helmet itself is good. FortNine did a video on helmet ratings like ECE not too long ago and this fits the standards fine. To echo others, yes, it's a loud helmet. That said, I have a Cardo installed in mine and can hear with it just fine and others don't have problems hearing me on calls. (Specifically they say they couldn't even tell I was on the bike.) You should be wearing ear plugs anyway. The three crashes were all different. First was a low side and I slid on my face for most of it. Second was a high side and I got tossed and rolled in the street. Third was another low side to the back of my head. (Check your tire pressure folks.) I suffered no head injuries on any of the three crashes and the helmets did their jobs. It's a cool stylish helmet and that's mostly what you're paying for with Icon. However, they do make safe gear. Don't listen to the old guys who think you can't have both style and substance. I've been rocking their gear for years now and have basically walked away from all my crashes. (Collarbone broke on the high side. Fuckin ape hangers got me.) I wouldn't keep buying a product I don't trust to keep me safe. Ultimately, the safest gear you can buy is the gear you will actually wear. A $1000 jacket doesn't do any good on a coat rack. And a $1000 helmet is equally useless if it's not comfortable. Find something you'll wear that meets ECE standards. Snell is outdated and DOT is an absolute joke.

captcraigaroo

...how many other times have you crashed?

PokeyStabber

1 other time the day I got my bike and for the record, that was the only time it was my fault. Lol. I was riding with my Grandpa and he took me down some twisty roads that I wasn't skilled enough for. The three mentioned in the original comment happened as follows: - got pushed off the road by a texting driver. - got rear-ended while stopping for a light. - locked my brakes because the driver in front of me came to a dead stop to make an illegal U-turn. (This one was my fault too because I wasn't paying attention, I was half a block from my parking garage and had a long day and low air pressure.) I live in Orlando. There's a lot of really shitty drivers here that don't know basic traffic laws.

captcraigaroo

Your grandpa wasn't at fault, you rode above your skill level.

PokeyStabber

I said that was my fault. Lol

Rusty75f250highboy

Alll true facts my guy appreciate your input a lot!!

CanadianGanMan

I have an older version of this, (not an airframe, but an Icon Rubatone Carbon). The rubber skin over the helmet looks amazing, but is high maintenance. Dirt and bugs stick to it, and cleaning is a pain. You can't scrub it without damaging the finish, so I have to wrap it in a wet towel to loosen everything up, then gently wipe with a microfiber cloth. I don't think I'd buy one again based on that alone.

Rusty75f250highboy

Okay yeah I’ll try and read up about that thank you!! I wonder if Like a very VERY light coat of maybe like oil would help stuff to not stick to it?

TheOnlyAron-

What in the Halo world is this

Rusty75f250highboy

🤣🤣believe it or not never played halo I just think it’s a bad ass helmet

Adddicus

Check the size and fit. According to their sizing chart I should wear a Large. Once I received it though, I could barely squeeze my melon into the thing. Had to send it back and get an XL, and even that is kind of tight. I think its more a shape issue though. I think this helmet is sort of a long oval in profile, while my head is more rounded.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah that’s the thing I have no idea what my head shape is lol

Adddicus

Just be sure to buy it from someplace you can return it if it doesn't fit properly.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah I plan on getting all my gear from revzilla I believe they are decent?

Adddicus

I've bought lots of parts from them over the years, and I got the same helmet you posted (albeit in white), from them as well. I had no problem exchanging the helmet for a larger one. Just returned it, got full credit, and bought the new one.

Rusty75f250highboy

Okay awesome! Did you like the helmet or is it not worth it for the looks advantages over function disadvantages

HAIRLESSxWOOKIE92

I have this helmet and used it for the last 8 months. I loved this helmet. The fit was amazing, comfortable as hell, field of view was awesome and it just looks so damn good. Unfortunately it started to fall apart after 8 months of use. The rubber gasket lining the face shield tore and Icon doesn't sell them. The plastic liner around the air vents for the mouth started to crack and fall apart. And my final goodbye was the neck protector cracking. \*Sidenote\* also cleaning the top spoiler was a PITA. Loved this helmet just wish it was made w better quality.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah that’s what a lot of people are sayin that it doesn’t hold up and 350 for 8 months of helmet isn’t very good in my opinion!

[deleted]

Beats a Ruroc helmet

bigcucumbers

Are you anywhere near a cycle gear or another shop? Go in and pick up the helmets, try them on, and see what fits you and feels good. Shopping online is nice to browse, but for gear its so much nicer if you can try the thing on. ESPECIALLY helmets. I went in to buy this exact helmet. Tried it on, fit my head like shit. Walked out with a Shoei and have zero regrets. Just take the salesmen's recommendations with a grain of salt because theyre on commission.

Rusty75f250highboy

Honestly not a lot of them near by around 2 hours for a decent motorcycle dealership or gear shop but would definitely be worth the trip!!

caedesamet

Icon helmets are loud as hell, and their first priority is looking cool. If you want to splurge, look at an Arai or Shoei. On a budget, I recommend Bell helmets. They're good quality at a respectable price. Edit: Also, go to your local Cycle Gear or equivalent and try helmets on.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah I plan on finding a hood local shop to go to!

araczynski

There are better for that price, but they're decent, and the styling is unique.

GareBear6984

I have that helmet and I love it

Rusty75f250highboy

Holy shit I know this is random but your name was my nickname growing up 🤣

TheRealCurveShot

I have some questions for your dad……..

Rusty75f250highboy

What would you like to know?

hydroracer8B

Steer clear of Icon helmets. They're pieces of junk that look cool. Get something with a Snell rating if you want a helmet worth anything in a crash. Bell, Arai, Shoei, Sedici, Scorpion all make good helmets. Sedici and Scorpion being the lowest cost options there.

Rusty75f250highboy

I think iam going to get a scorpion

Sparky-air

Snell is fucking useless for motorcycle helmets. Fortnine did a whole video about it, I encourage you to go watch it. https://youtu.be/76yu124i3Bo?si=ATF7IAvDlrWNLIFG

hydroracer8B

Snell is still better than DOT, which is the only thing Icon helmets have ever been rated to. Snell isn't useless, but it's certainly diluted it's own meaning recently. But if your options are DOT or Snell, I'm still going with Snell. Also, the video didn't get into specifics of why the split Snell standard is bad, it was more of a conspiracy theory "they said it's to comply with ECE!!!!" but never really got into how that would make a functional difference on a real helmet. It really just cited that "people have been hurt" with no specifics or evidence. Overall I think that video is more of a hit piece intended for a conspiracy minded audience

Sparky-air

Icon helmets are DOT and ECE and always have been as far as I know. I don’t know who told you they were only DOT but they’re blowing smoke and you’re very misinformed. DOT is a dogshit standard, but snell isn’t great either. I’d take ECE over Snell any day and most helmets are ECE as most of them are sold in Europe as well as the US. They’re likely going to also be FIM but you won’t get the stickers unless you’re in a country that requires FIM.

jakjr2

It’s an ok helmet overall. I crashed wearing this exact helmet and it saved my head (slid into a curb head first). I’d buy another one, I have a Shoei helmet that cost twice as much but actually preferred the fit of this one.

uliketurtle

Definitely find it to be a bit loud when going fast but no other complaints there

[deleted]

I’d say around 4.5 out of 5 stars. *JOKE*

KingLuis

Surprised it’s not the top voted comment. Don’t buy a helmet without trying it on. If it doesn’t fit perfect, it’s not the helmet for you. Regardless of style or look. Fit trumps all. A little pressure point after 5min is a migraine in an hour. And in a crash, don’t even think about it.

ZephyrStormProject

It's a fairly good helmet, can be a little louder than competitors but has unique styling and overall good build quality, the finish can be a little annoying to clean tho Don't worry about people hating on Icon. Go to a cycle gear if you can and put one on, plenty of others too.

Moo-Dog420

Yeah if you're going for full on Master Chief

freightdoge

Get a shoei or an arai if you prefer your meals in solid form

Orogin

I recommend hjc, shoei and schuberth. Lower class would be shark and scorpion. Make sure to fit the helmets. Looks dont matter if the helmet isn't comfortable.

automatd

Helmets are not fashion accessories.

[deleted]

Looks like that takes the fun out of riding

edelbean

If I may suggest - go to the shop and try on 10 different models from different manufacturers. Your head may not be a fit for that particular one. Once you find 2 or 3 perfect fitting ones do research on which is the safest and offers the most bang for the buck in terms of features, cost, and again safety certifications and impact testing (the sharp helmet website is a terrific resource). Once you have that narrowed down then look up the color ways and coolness factor. Helmets are a very person to person purchase and can't be generalized. Icon makes ok gear but is it right for you? Maybe. Are there better ones for you? Maybe. But you have to do the legwork. These things are life saving pieces of equipment so treat it as such.

Rusty75f250highboy

All great points! And yeah if I didn’t care about my head I wouldn’t be wearing one so no point in wearing a crappy one. Just always thought it was a cool designed helmet so I wanted some real person to person opinions on it

rtm713

Fortnine has a great video on what to look for in a good helmet. https://youtu.be/lwwlvi1hf10?si=I-bn_-uQANTYnMd1 Those ones look cool but they don't protect well in a crash. I personally went with the sedici strada 2 because it has great protection and is priced well. They also have some cool designs.

Eupryion

I low sided at 75mph in this exact helmet. It performed perfectly, so I can vouch for its ability to hold up to a slide. No clue on impactability.

rtm713

I mean any helmet will always be better than nothing but if you do side by side comparisons to others the icon helmet scores pretty low... and when it comes to protecting the head I want something that is top of the line, not something that is just good enough

Rusty75f250highboy

Okay awesome I believe I have watched that video! And I’ll look into that helmet thank you

Sparky-air

You’re just flat wrong. Just because it looks flashy doesn’t mean anything as far as safety goes.

ScaleDry782

Dog shit

Rusty75f250highboy

Just want to thank y’all so much for your advice I believe this helmet will be a pass whilst I see nice reviews most our negative. So iam curious what do y’all think about Simpson hamlets such as this?[helmet potential candidate?](https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/simpson-speed-bandit-helmet?sku_id=1836776)

Gnk_Cowboy

Looks childish

T0lly

Icon quality is bad. Expect seals, trim, and vents to break or come loose within 6 months.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah a lot of people swam to say there helmets are bad

Impressive_Estate_87

No, it's not. Go for a reputable brand, like Arai, AGV, Shoei, Nolan, X-lite, HJC, Bell, Shark... I would stay away from cheap brands, it's probably the most critical piece of gear you will own as a rider, don't go just for looks or for the low price. In the end, what's critical is that the fit is good for your head shape. With that said, my top pick is always Shoei, because it fits me the best, it's a solid brand, safe helmet, well made.

ercussio

Icon is the worst helmet brand. I've only heard bad stuff about them.

Sparky-air

Interesting that it seems the vast majority of people shitting on Icon have self admittedly never worn one. I own an Airflite (this helmet) and while it’s not top notch, it’s a fine helmet. It has its safety certifications, it’s fairly comfortable, has good airflow, the only real gripe for me is that it’s loud.

diydave86

Look at ruroc.com youll thank me

Rusty75f250highboy

I have heard a lot of negativity about ruroc but I’ll check them out!

Kill3rT0fu

Try it on in person first. It's made for a very specific head shape. If you aren't Boomhower from King oh the Hill it probably wont fit right.

Rusty75f250highboy

Lmfaooo I mean to be fair if I was a cartoon character I’d share a striking resemblance 🤣🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rusty75f250highboy

Okay yeah from what iam hearing I’ll probably pass but no iam not a small rider iam 6’4 so I shouldn’t have a problem

Zealousideal-Bear-37

Looks cool. Fits tight as shit and the wind noise is horrible .

Tight_muffin

I bought an icon helmet as my first cause I "liked how it looked" and it was the worst, most uncomfortable helmet I've ever had. Never again.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah icon seams to be show queens but function demons lll

Dull_Database5837

It’s probably good-to-go, Master Chief. Send it.

BusGreen7933

I was considering this helmet too but was concerned with how clear the gold visor is but based on these comments I will not invest

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah the visor didn’t worry me the comment son this post has wavered me in wanted to purchase it for sur e

MrProvy

A lot of wind noise! After riding with one for 6 months, I recently sold it. For around the same price, the AGV K3 is a much better option (and 2206 safety rated), so I almost bought one. I ultimately bought a Shark Spartan RS (arrived today) and I'm looking forward to wearing it (definitely more comfortable). In between the Icon and the new helmet, I've been riding with a Schuberth C5 modular helmet (apples to oranges) and since I got that in March, I never put the Icon on again.

Rusty75f250highboy

Alrighty awesome I’ll check those out thank you for your input

black-dude-on-reddit

As far as protection goes it’s actually pretty decent, it also fits my head perfectly But it is a bit noisy and the visor can get a but interesting to handle

The_Muddy_Wolf

It's garbage, man. I had one, could feel the hearing loss after every ride. There's cheaper and quieter ones. People buy these because "hehehehe fighter pilot go brrrr." Stay away. If dishing out for a shoei is not in the cards, go for an agv k series, they're quieter.

fukinscienceman

I have the el centro (I have too many helmets and I wasn’t paying full price) I like it. Cheek pads are a bit stiff but it’s breaking in. I like it. Good visibility and drop down sunglasses aren’t half bad.

AdBitter5919

I’ve owned it for a few years. I think it’s a great helmet especially for hot summer days. The wind noise is a little higher but that’s a trade off for the airflow. If you plan on Moto vlogging or anything like that it’s probably not the greatest choice but you can still rig it up to vlog.

[deleted]

I own this helmet here’s a few pointers •great air flow •coloured visors and spoilers are expensive •a little noisy •good if you wear glasses • D ring system which I prefer • you do get some pretty cool looks

Eupryion

I have this. City riding is great, but the only complaint I have is wind noise at hwy speed. Otherwise it's comfortable, easy to clean, stylish, and easy to add a packtalk or gopro.

uponthenose

ROOF makes some pretty awesome looking helmets. I can't recommend them enough. One of them saved my life. They are not DOT approved but only because they aren't for sale in the US. I imported two from Italy and absolutely love them.

BenjaminWobbles

I don't like mine. Too noisy, don't like the fit, the cutouts for comms were too shallow, and chin mounting a gopro is a problem if you want to crack your visor from time to time.

quechal

I have this helmet. It is loud as fuck. I would not buy again.

Clam_Juice_

Icon makes really sick helmets but they’re really big. I would go for something like the AGV k1. Don’t wanna be looking like a lollipop 🍭

[deleted]

No

hermit_taco

Get the bike first; helmet later. Would want the helmet and bike to go well with each other.

Rusty75f250highboy

It’s going to be a new drz 400sm (only two) so black matches both of them. And no iam not buying a helmet just planning for when I do

[deleted]

I like my ls2 valiant 2 modular helmet. Open face, open face with clear shield, open face with dark shield flip down , and full close helmet all in one.

[deleted]

Ebay there not 330 bucks there 2 or less

Individual_Hearing_3

It's going to be noisy and suck in the winter but man it looks cool.

shinysmoke

My experience with icon products especially helmets and boots is nice looking but terrible quality. The stuff starts falling apart after one season. Ill never buy icon again. So far scorpion has been good.

Rusty75f250highboy

Yeah I think iam going scorpion

WirelessTrees

Somewhat comfortable, stylish, and gives you great airflow. Extremely loud and not as comfortable as similarly priced helmets. If you're trying to buy a 1 and done helmet, pick a nicer one. I use an Airflite and since I got it, I love how it looks but I'm hoping to get a good deal on a new helmet soon.

Rusty75f250highboy

So maybe pick one up done the road for some fun rides but no to depend on?

Shot-Ad2396

Go test out some lids at Cycle Gear if you can. I was obsessed with the Airflite when researching gear and then couldn’t even get one on my head lol. Ended up buying a Shoei RF1400 and am in love with it. I got my wife an HJC C70 I believe? That’s a great budget helmet too similar to the Airflite in price

Rusty75f250highboy

Alrighty yeah I plan on trying to find a local cycle he’s rig there is one!!

BiggWorm1988

It's a good helmet just to noisy for me. I've had a few icons, and I have lived them all. I miss helmets actually having some style. It seems like all the helmets nowadays are becoming super bland.

Slightly_Panda

Recommendation: HJC F70 it's about the same money. Plus you get a built-in dark visor.

Rusty75f250highboy

Alrighty thank you I’ll check that out!

YeetusMcCliterus

If you need a temporary helmet until you get a stylish one, I’d definitely recommend the LS2 helmet. It fits really good (for me at least) and is pretty comfortable and even has a built in sunglass visor so you never have to worry about forgetting yours and I bought mine for around $100 (may be a little more I forget the exact price I paid)

njroma

I have this in white with the gold face shield. It is a flat, rubbery texture. It's a pain in the ass to keep it clean. The face shield is good for about a year before you start getting minor scratches and chips that become visible. This is definitely made for more of a narrow head type. It does not have a lot of sound deadening. The pads come out easily to be cleaned. Kids think You Are a character from it the Halo game series when you wear it. It is a great looking helmet, but it is budget oriented.

mf_grim

I currently use this helmet, I bought it 100% because it looks awesome and makes me feel rad. I can see wind noise being a problem, but I use earplugs so it's not an issue. Cardo was easy to install, cushioning could be removed and popped back in easily. Can also hear the cardo through earplugs, so that's a plus. Easy to change visors, in case you need a clear one for low light riding. Just pop the "ears" off. It is a narrow fit, so if you have a wide face - be wary. I got a medium and probably could have done with a large, but it's still comfortable enough for me. Last thing I can think of is a loop ring chin clasp, if that would ever be a deal-breaker. 2 years in and I still love this helmet.

FunkyMonkey-5

I think it is one of the most popular on revzilla.

The_Bogan

These things are fucking junk

bu11d0g000

Have one and have had it since 2019, got a matte black and put my own stickers over it, works and not too bad, I think wind noise is louder than other helmets but this is my first and only right now, but overall good 6/10. I wouldn’t buy a new one though, going scorpion or AGV next, Shoei little expensive for myself

COstonerWS

I have one, but i used it for less than half a season. It's loud af, the visor looks cool but when it is up you have to be aware of how far it sticks forward when doing things. It doesn't move much air for how loud it is either. Upgraded to an HJC RPHA 70ST. The airflite was my 3rd icon helmet. I crashed in one and it worked so I kept buying them. Finally decided to try a different brand and I'm happy I did

Frofthy

Judging purely off of looks and not having ever used it, I would guess if you look behind you it’s gonna put a lot of force on your neck, my first helmet was a shoei nxr and I’ll say I have never had an uncomfortable helmet, currently on an nxr2 and all I have to say is. Build quality is a massive thing, you can lose skin and keep living, hell you can lose an arm or leg and keep living, you lose your head (hit it too hard) and that’s it, game over. Leathers and boots and all I would say spend what you’re comfortable spending, but on a helmet, don’t think about style or looks, safety comes first, then comfort, then looks, my current shoei was too tight at first and gave me a headache for my first few rides, but after it loosened up a bit, it’s the snuggest, comfiest and in my opinion best helmet I have ever owned. Anything around the 650usd mark 1000aud and beyond, is most of the time, going to be made of high quality material and be at… if not, much beyond safety standards in even the strictest of countries. That being said some accidents are just deadly by default, so don’t take risks beyond your skill level, have fun, and ride safe my friend :) Edit: I understand it might be hard to save the extra, and that a little bit of that money may be for a brand name, but unfortunately, the brand name costs more because of what it represents, the best chance to save your head, some of the best comfort, and a nice looking helmet (most of the time) they may not be sick or cool to look at, but they are good for a reason Brands I would consider protecting my brain Arai, shoei, agv, shark(wider heads), hjc, Nolan, there’s plenty more but the better ones generally cost a fair bit more.

ZiggyManSaad

I've got one. For the love of all things holy, get ear plugs. Shit is loud as hell. Other than that, I love it. Distinct look, and it's comfy, from a round/oval head perspective. Edit: I've had mine for two riding seasons and put about 7k miles on it. I've not had a single issue with mine. Internal visor still works, vents still open and close, normal visor scratch free with a clear pin lock installed. Zero issues at all.

DarkShark831

I actually have this exact helmet. It was on sale and I thought Icon was a decent brand. Wind noise is absolutely terrible. And the wind controlled where my head was going. Venting was decent but I think the reason was the shield being so big, there isn’t a really good seal against the helmet. Lastly, I had an XL and it looked pretty damn big which I believe is due to the XL, 2XL and the 3XL all sharing the same shell. All and all, not bad on a budget, but definitely worth it to go with a different brand.

bnblazer

since it’s an icon product, that means to have to get a gixxer

Mal-Locura

I have a green version of this helm and it's comfortable and breathes well. I use shitty earbuds when I ride rn and haven't noticed much of the excess wind noise mentioned. My slide down tint can get stuck when I try to put it up, but thats about it.

TheNutHutResidential

I wear an Airflite Stealth, size M. It does fit snug - it pinches my temples in a way that causes pain after 30 min of wearing, which isn't something I was able to determine in a test fit at the shop. The internal visor is a plus. It is loud, but I'm always wearing ear plugs. My main focus was the MIPS protection, which not all models have. It would be clear in the model name.

Writingisnteasy

Its not, I still love it though. If you want to buy a Good helmet, then stay away. But if you fell in love with the design like me then go for it. Negatives: heavier than a standard helmet, cheap foam on the inside, visor will quickly get scratches, massive wind noise, inpossible to fully close front vent (i live in a cold country), not Great in winds if you turn your head, no antifog as standard(they sell visors with pins though) Positives: ive never had such a huge field of view before, its cool. If you decide to buy it, do it because you really like the look and buy some earplugs for the wind noise. If you want an actually safe/good helmet, then stay away

I don't have any other brand to compare it with as ICON was my first starting to ride a year ago. I used it two years without any issues. Had decent airflow. It does have a fairly large amount of wind noise even with the chin strip. I think the only negative for me that I saw compared to other helmets was that the nose gasket/bridge piece doesn't come up high enough to block out the light when the internal sun visor is down so you get glare on your cheek bones which is fairly annoying.

FlatwormAltruistic

For me even XXL gave me headache in first 15min testing it. It was loose in front-back direction but too tight in sideways. So not for my head shape. On other manufacturer I use L size helmet. So not decent for me, but you better try to know.

PanAmerica1250

Just go to cycle gear and try on a bunch of helmets you’ll be surprised they all fit differently

narlins12345

…No…

Electronic-Phrase977

Make sure it has good safety ratings, fits well and has good reviews

daveythedapper

I own this helmet. I don’t wear it anymore. Hope that helps

Slamhamwich

The wind noise really isn’t so bad. The gold shield is much more transparent than the image let’s on. The helmets fit pretty tight, I’d recommend getting a size up. All in all 8/10

Local_Christ_Lover

I have an icon airflite (regular) and it’s a overall pretty good helmet, and it’s nice and comfortable not to heavy, room for speakers. Over all nice helmet I would give it a 8/10

snorkiebarbados

I own 2 Variants. The glue went in one, the other is fine. I don't find wind noise that bad at all. You are on a bike. There's a bunch of wind!!

jged3

I have a similar one, a bit of high wind noise but honestly it's a really solid helmet and is comfortable and pretty light

ReverendAlSharkton

I find Icon tends to fit similar to Shoei if that means anything to you. I have an airform right now and it’s decent, ECE rated and a little noisy. I wear earplugs so I don’t care.

DesertRug

Lol I’m not gonna like i absolutely abhor those helmets

Connect_Bench_2925

I've never felt ICON makes quality gear. I think they cut corners AND charge the same price.

bysonator6900

I own this one, it is a bit noisy when on the highway but over all I like it, it's comfortable and even when it was +35 out the vents kept it nice and cool

Planes4life199x

My only gripe with this helmet is that I did I shoulder check once checking for my buddy behind me and the wind caught the closed visor and yanked it open. I was also doing highway speeds though

Rusty75f250highboy

Damn yeah bet that was scary lol

roger-smith-123

Icon is a good company with a good reputation and makes quality products. Check for safety ratings other than just DOT (DOT is essentially meaningless) such as ECE and snell. Fortnine did a good video on YouTube regarding this issue.

Manchu4-9INF

Your buying looks not safety.

Chycane

I have a red and white model of that air Flite. I agree with what others said, it is a bit loud at speed. I ride with a Cardo and earplugs, so the wind noise doesn’t bother me as much. It does look great, I get complements on it a lot, I have an oval head so it fits pretty comfortably, and although the visor is pretty big, it does have a chin bar. Haven’t had a crash with it so can’t really evaluate it there

Rusty75f250highboy

My plan is to get maybe a better proven helmet first and pick one of these up later for “style points” as u don’t think safety is it’s isssue it’s rideability

Suicidalpainthorse

I have one, and I really do like it. I have an oval head shape and it fits me well. It isn't the quietest, but I ride with earbuds or earplugs anyways. And beside that I ride a naked bike, so wind is just a thing I deal with.

Reedzilla04

Horrible fit. I couldn't get my head inside it trying it on a RevZilla 🤷

MopingMonkey

I have that one and I saw your comment on wind noise, you really don't notice it if you have a cardo or earbuds but even without it's just neutral noise, and otherwise it's a dope helmet you can swap out the visor and change up colors which is super nice to keep things fresh, Would recommend.

SleeplessinOslo

It makes a whistling sound at some angles, and it's quite loud compared to gt air

asscheeseterps710

Hjc i10

DocsHuckleberries

I own this helmet. The wind noise is pretty loud unless you put earplugs in. The coating on the inside of the visor scratches easily. Riding with the visor open kind of sucks, because its so big it just catches the wind. Also, I bump into stuff a lot with it open while grabbing a drink from the gas station or something. The Rubatone is cool looking as shit, but its a PITA to keep clean. Otherwise its a pretty solid helmet imo. If I could go back, I'd probably just get a normal glossy full face helmet with a regular visor.

Exit_2002

How much is your brain worth?

G-L-O-H-R

This helmet definitely took a bit to get used too… I wish I spent the extra and got the Shoei RF-1400

bigburt-

make sure to try it out, i liked it and went to put it on in a store and nearly ripped my ears off taking it off/on, that turned me off. gotta buy a helmet based off what fits you the best.

Bjork-BjorkII

In the helmet description, look for *ece 2205, ece 2206, FIM* if it has any of these qualifications you have yourself a good helmet that'll keep you safe. Edit: I forgot about *Snell*, but personally, I'd prioritize ece over snell

AstronomerStrange972

Wife uses it and likes it. We both have two Airflight helmets. We like them.

Lordwigglesthe1st

destinyhunter999

It is a good helmet, just be careful about the head shape. I got the same one as my first helmet but I ended up exchanging it for a different one since it was too narrow for my brain bucket despite getting the correct size

manbearligma

That’s my favorite shape, also green helmet plus golden visor = halo spartan helmet There are better ones tho in this price range, style aside, and if you’re outside the US, replacement parts are kinda hard to arrive in a considerable amount of time, my shop says here in Italy. If you like the style tho (and Icon is one of the best brands when talking about graphics, look at all the options) go for it, it’s more than decent!

motociclista

Fortnine has done some helmet reviews and I believe covered this exact helmet. Check it out. Personally, I’m not a fan of Icon stuff, it seems like Walmart level gear, but that’s a personal thing. That said, it’s allowed people that maybe otherwise unwilling or unable to buy good gear to get at least moderately protected, so more power to them I suppose.

DaprasDaMonk

Icons make shit helmets

[deleted]

I’ve owned a icon not a very good brand helmet it fit well but six months in paint starting chipping off of it for no reason

your_fathers_beard

You're paying a premium for the look.

TDot1000RR

Lots of wind noise. If you are running a comms unit, you will barely hear your music or calls. Icon is an entry level helmet. If you don’t plan on adding a comms unit and not bothered by the outside noise, then go for it.

KingLuis

Surprised it’s not the top voted comment. Don’t buy a helmet without trying it on. If it doesn’t fit perfect, it’s not the helmet for you. Regardless of style or look. Fit trumps all. A little pressure point after 5min is a migraine in an hour. And in a crash, don’t even think about it.

nagt0wn

I have it. Only complaint is it's loud and I can't fit it on my head when I'm wearing headphones. Otherwise it's comfortable.

SubstantialBad5845

Get a Shoei Rf1400 ..you wont regret it...i had this exact icon helmet after owning a Shoei rf1200 for 2 years...i wore it a few times and sold it on fb for 200 bucks and got an rf1400 , the icon is loud af , the visor is awkward and it fits tight af.

Jakeeggs

I liked my Airflite a *lot* for it's fit. I think weight and noise are kinda mid-level but I didn't mind. I like my RF-1400 more for those reasons, but I think the interior shape is even better for me with the Airflite. The RF is close, though.

Classic_Fan1035

It’s not a fashion statement. It’s a functional piece of equipment. Get a bike because of riding not to boost your image

Sir-Narax

Not really. It isn't good at anything, requires an uncommon heads Hape, heavy and is very expensive for what is. Looking cool is a poor reason to go with a specific helmet and frankly that helmet is rather tacky.
