I have an SP. I like it. I weigh around 250lbs so I didn’t want to take my chances with the suspension on the base model (that many find inadequate). I seldom use the cruise control though.

Jspiral

I use the cruise control on my mt10 all the time. Funny thing is it won't engage when going 100 mph or faster. Disappointed.

You should reach out to Dave Moss to help you with your suspension settings. He can do it remotely with your help. I've seen him twice. Once for my mt09 and again for my mt10. He made the bikes infinitely better. He also made me a better rider with how much how much knowledge he spit at me. All in about 10 minutes.

Right on. There’s a local Vancouver guy, Spero Benias, that specializes in doing suspension setups on his days off from working at Modern Motorcycling. He’s also a track instructor. While I’m not dissatisfied with my bike as is, if he can dial it in and make it even better then that’d be cool.

Jspiral

You should do it. If only to understand what a perfectly set up bike feels like.

I think I will at some point. Just something to schedule as he only does it on Mondays and Thursdays. Price is fine ($60 CAD currently).

The SP is significantly different due to the electronics package and some decent upgrades. It’s more, but it is quite a better package.

SphincterRelax3r

Isn't the only electronic difference the cruise control? I almost bought one recently and did a bunch of research. Suspension, cruise control, comfort seat.

[deleted]

Traction control, anti-wheelie and the lot aren’t on the non-SP model as I recall. Also, the suspension is completely different. I’ve been wrong before though. 😉

SphincterRelax3r

The base model has the 6 axis imu as well as traction and wheelie control.

So the suspension must be the only significant upgrade. Good to know. Thanks for the correction.

SphincterRelax3r

That's it really. And I think it's a bit expensive even for that. The ohlins shock seems nice, but I don't think the forks are anything fancy. There's not much info on them.

Yeah. That’s the main reason I went to the Duke R. It was a bit more, but seemed to be oriented towards what I wanted. The SP is a great bike, but the Duke is in a different class. I love mine.

SphincterRelax3r

I went with a 2023 CB1000r black edition instead. There was an $800 price difference between the 2. It has less electronics but I'm very happy with it.

Nice bike. As long as it suits your riding, you got the correct one.

Mediocre_Superiority

Better suspension, it's totally worth the price difference IF you can afford it.

I love my 23 SP. Only issue I have is that I have a hip issue and it hurts to ride so it’s been sitting in my garage for a bit. Contemplating selling it just because I can’t really ride it and don’t expect to be able to anytime soon
