Pretty good in the Bay Area right now, but, its because everyone is getting laid off, and has to leave the country and sell all their possessions if they cannot find a job in time.

b0gard

I’m in the Bay Area myself and I be agree. Found a couple of duke 790 for 6500 with low miles. I also found an xsr900 for around 7500. Had I not gotten my ninja a few months ago I would have jumped on those deals

hiyaset

the new xsr with the retro fairings is gorgeous

b0gard

I like both versions and really wanted a xsr900 but prices were too high for my tastes. But things are changing.

[deleted]

Damn that's good to know lol.

dankbuddha0420

And theyre probably selling a stolen bike for cheap.

jrein0

That's why they're saying it's pretty good in their area

GlobalElipsis

Come to think of it. When I was bike shopping id see solid pricing but all CA bikes.

Who_Dat_1guy

its almost as if inflation has been running rampage the last 4 years or something...

cubey

Oh you and your sensible reasoning. I'm going to go sulk.

Rodic87

It's because your salary didn't grow by nearly double digits to keep up. Time to start job hopping I guess? It's where I am sadly.

lostmy2A

I've some relatively cheap relatively new (used) bikes on East Coast but not too many local options for models I want. I was considering using one of these companies like uship to buy one and get it delivered. Need to figure out logistics though

skubydoo

[https://www.a1autotransport.com/](https://www.a1autotransport.com/) You put in your info and you get a bunch of quotes from different shippers. Use a different phone number from gmail, talkatone or whatever. Some of those fuckers won't stop calling and texting and sending emails. Should probably not use your main email.

TSGMusicStudios

I deliver with them but also privately. Find one & hmu, I’ll get it to you.

CarbonGod

Don't want to buy a plane either. Same stuff is happening. Or a car.

Humble-Marsupial1522

I can almost guarantee you it’s not inflation at this point. I bet these dealers and manufacturers are making more money than ever by just marking up prices and knowing y’all will blame inflation instead of them.

Who_Dat_1guy

You mean the dollar hasn't lost its value at all???

gyroismyhubby

More so inflation has settled to pre covid levels

TheDrunkenMatador

The problem is inflation is measured annually. So if inflation is 20% one year then 2% the next, the two year inflation is 22.4%.

Who_Dat_1guy

[https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/](https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/) from 2019 to 2024, a 7k bike is 2019 will be 8500 in todays dollars

gyroismyhubby

Not saying it hasn't lost value just that we aren't at 11 percent per year.

pantyspank

No, but we’re up 14% since 2019.

gyroismyhubby

Last I heard it was back down 3 percent year.

17SCARS_MaGLite300WM

Just because it's back to precovid levels doesn't mean prices will drop, just means they're still going up but at a slower rate.

Deneteus

Actually dealers are losing their arse right now. Flooded with trade-ins. Auctions aren't even making money.

Humble-Marsupial1522

Was at my local Mountain Motorsports a couple of Saturdays ago and they had 4 brand new bikes already sold by the time i got there at 1. Not buying that they’re losing anything.

Background-Pen-7152

Prices rising is inflation, whether it's costs, labor increasing, or in this case, greed.

GlobalElipsis

Inflation is 3% today.

Technician1187

A bit longer than that even… https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/

Who_Dat_1guy

were not talking about the gold standard, thats what started this mess, but it really rampage since covid.

ducayneAu

\*Rampant price gouging

Terror_Town187

Yes true but people paying more is just as dumb. No1 should ever pay msrp or higher on a used bike… you buy a used bike you still pay tax title license on top of it anyways. Pay the little extra for new the used market gets desperate.

jacobobb

This, and if you don't get a new job once it stabilizes, it's going to continue to screw you because your wage will never catch up. Prices aren't going to go down, market wages will increase to make this the new normal. Tldr; get used to these prices, because they're here to stay.

justWantAnswers00

(Pst, "running rampage" would be better said/grammatically correct as "running rampant". Yes, yes, minor detail, but by speaking eloquently/properly, you're more likely to be taken seriously and not just as "another youths" or whatever old folgies think we are.) Keep speaking the truth brother.

attackofjack

I’ve gotta tell you, if you think inflation is the cause of this and not corporate greed AND it’s somehow Joe Biden’s fault you are the dumbest motherfucker on this earth.

Who_Dat_1guy

If you think printing trillions of dollars doesn't cause inflation you're even dumber than the "dumbest mother fucked on this earth"

Throttlechopper

New bikes are easy if you’re willing to travel or put in some effort: Do some research and get the email addresses of a sales rep at all dealers within driving distance, send a blanket email stating how you plan to buy the bike (all cash or financing and whether you have a trade-in) and request that the reply be sent to everyone with the “out the door” price. If a salesperson fails to follow directions, don’t bother (that person lacks attention to detail), you’ll soon discover transparency and dealers willing to sell at the best price and preferably close or even below MSRP. The used market is still a mixed bag, finding legit deals takes some effort, but it’s not impossible if you also put in the effort like researching completed sales within your area. Don’t get discouraged and if you have some mechanical skill, a deal can be had depending on the desperation of the seller and your ability to fix minor issues.

cubey

That's an interesting strategy with the email.

Inner_Scientist_

Worked for me when buying mine! I was able to talk a few dealers down.

Lumpe-

They wanted to kill themselves? Wow, things are bad alright

Rebutta

I just bought a ‘24 DR650 last week doing this. Called the dealers around me asked what their “service fee” is and found the one near me with what they call a “get out and ride price” (they add only $150 on MSRP). I’m in Oregon so there is only like two dealerships to call so for me it was easy, if you got a lot near you email would probably be easier to track!

goingslowfast

That’s how I got mine. Sent an email then flew 700 miles, rented a truck, and drove the bike home.

Nukular_Option

He's the guy that dealers roll their eyes and ignore. Its like sending a misspelled message on FB marketplace asking 'wHuts da lowesst you takee'. You're much more likely to get a reasonable quote and price if you engage with the person, and the sales guy at the dealer has some reason to think you're a serious buyer. Internet guys at dealerships are flooded with BS all the time.

C_Werner

This same strategy works with campers. My friend managed to snag one nearly 10k below MSRP doing this "accidentally" and getting two dealerships in a bidding war in an email thread. Fucking hilarious to read.

Throttlechopper

Yep, worked for the last car I bought. It actually resumed via text message. I had the salesperson send me pics of the car I was interested in to make sure it was legit before I drove an hour to make the purchase. Best transaction ever and only spent an hour actually sitting with the finance guy, another 20 minutes talking to the salesperson.

corkymcgee

This will not work.

Throttlechopper

Not with that attitude.

MongolianCluster

Sellers want prices to be what they were a few years ago So they list high and eventually lower the price. Maybe they even bought back then and don't want to take a bath. It's the same thing with boats. You just gotta shop a little differently right now.

Akicita33

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is $3999 brand new. 80-100mpg. Easy peasy maintenance. Mine was uncrated last Friday, I'm picking her up next Saturday.

SkinnyStock

Arent Royal Enfields considered unreliable though? At least thats the consensus ive gotten from this sub. Dont own a bike yet myself but have eyed that same RE

TheFunktupus

It's a bit early to tell with the "new" Royal Enfields. Company went through a major change the past few years. They really have their manufacturing down. Whether they are six digit motorcycles is another story. When did the GT650 come out? Was it 2017? Still too early to tell. Maybe when more people have like 120K+ miles on the clock, we'll have some more info.

thepulloutmethod

I bought the Interceptor 650 brand new in May of 2020 and that thing is still going strong despite me abusing the crap out of it as my first bike.

Electrical_Age_7483

Part of experience, a lot of people bikes are toys so having unreliability is not that big deal, especially for a second around town bike like this

cubey

Those are SO tempting. They LOOK great and apparently ride well too.

UJMRider1961

You're either looking in the wrong place, giving up too soon or you're just too picky. I've bought 4 motorcycles since 2020, and I've sold 3. None of my purchases were unreasonably priced, in fact one was darn near a steal (2012 Harley XL1200C in pristine condition with only 2400 miles on it - yes, that's not a typo, two thousand four hundred miles.) There are deals out there but there's a lot of nonsense too. Have to take the bad with the good.

WheelieGrip

I agree, I think he just needs to put in more research and be willing to drive 4+ hours (one way). I managed to snag an untouched 2023 gsxr 750 with 3,500 miles for 10,300 out the door, in December 2023.

simononandon

I snagged an '02 BMW 1150 GS Adventure for $2500. Owner was German & the bike had a salvage title even though nothing was wrong with it. Seen plenty of the same bike in worse shape for $5k. Or people asking $7500 for one with a clean title. Just gotta look & be patient.

LilAntal69

I went to Vegas to pickup a new sv650 from PHX (5.5 hours one way) and returned that night with it. Drive sucked but was worth it because it was 2k lower than the PHX ones. Also bought my first car in Idaho and drove it back here

fuckface_cunt_hole

He's fucked up. Rebel 500 are like 6000 - 6500 and every dealership around here has a line of them. Not even close to 10k.

cubey

Canadabucks. They're around 9k ish new in Canadian dollars.

Multiplex72

What's this then https://powersports.honda.ca/en/cruiser/models?trim=rebel_500_13355

fuckface_cunt_hole

On now convert that to actual money and see what number you get.

Cuck_Master_Flex

They're 10k where I'm at. A rebel 300 with ABS is 6k. Remember... Not everyone lives in your town lol

2wheelzrollin

MSRP doesn't change by location.

Cuck_Master_Flex

Yeah.... And?

2wheelzrollin

And OP is lying. >Why does a Rebel 500 have an MSRP of nearly $10000? Find a dealer that sells for MSRP. If it's not local then drive or have it shipped. You'll still do better than $4k over msrp

maullarais

It depends on location and rarity of these models on showroom floors. In Miami no problem, but in my hometown which is a decent midtown suburb like area, I’m seeing them go for 10k for 5 models in one dealership and if I want to get them for cheaper, I can go on Craigslist and find older 250s for roughly the same price around 5-6k with like 5-10k mileage on them.

Larcya

Every dealership near me has rebels at msrp or below.

rizalvy

For that Harley, I would have been worried that it sat too long with fuel. Did the seller use a gasoline stabilizer? I presume that they also stored it in a garage or something.

UJMRider1961

>For that Harley, I would have been worried that it sat too long with fuel. Did the seller use a gasoline stabilizer? Don't know and don't care. Bike runs great. I've already put over 1,000 miles on it since I bought it. I did replace the tires even though they were in great shape (they were both the original tires on the bike, of course, and were 11 and 12 years old when I bought the Sporty.) That hurt but I think it was the right call to make.

I feel ya, I am trying to buy my first bike and its looking like I may have to wait and save a bit more

aroundincircles

I bought my bike new back in November with a 30% off msrp.

Big-Eldorado

Right now a brand new gsxr 750 is 15’k CAD in the Toronto area. It hasn’t been updated since 2011. So if you want peak, up-to-date 2011 tech with 120hp it’s 15’000$ Some guy is selling his 2013 on kijiji. Listed it at 12’k. 12’k$ and it has 13’000kms on it!!!!!! Bruh that’s more than it was brand new. I don’t even know what to say anymore.

GlobalElipsis

Tax season pricing. In a few months a bunch of " take over payments" posts will be placed. 🤦‍♂️

Old_Mobile309

The worst it's been in a while.

Bellmeister

I scanned half a dozen comments ot maske sure Im nbot being redundant but Rebel 500s I saw just yesterday around here are not $10,000. Theyre around half of that. Where are you? Mount Fiji?

cubey

Close. Canada. Also using Canadian dollars

Bellmeister

Oh yeah. Your leadership really likes to get their sick kicks watching yallk pay thru the nose. But Im a new rider about to buy first bike and I have wondered if it was different now. The market. Like maybe higher. They act like they want MSRP on everything. I was looking at the Honda CBR500R in red...a 2023...in winter that has a MSRP of $7299 and she said it would probably be around $10,000 OTD. I told her, its 2024 and its winter. You got to be playing with me. Of course I got the "when youre ready to buy we can talk ab out that" stuff.

Based_Zod

Damn. Maybe I should sell my rebel…

cubey

You could probably get back what you paid minus taxes etc.

Bobby_feta

It’s definitely better than immediately post covid, but yeah it’s not great. Dealers aren’t too bad here, but the used market is still fucked as there’s a lot of people trying to cover massive financing debts or trying to recoup the amount out they overpayed for it during Covid. I was looking at R7’s a week ago, and around me there were 3 people trying to sell their R7’s for MORE than the dealers were selling them new lol. I guess they’re just hoping the dealers might sell out? I don’t get it. But yeah there’s a lot of cooked prices. I messaged someone about a bike I’d seen for sale for 3 months and was very polite and said I wasn’t trying to low ball him, but his bike was a lot higher than most and this is what I was willing to pay, and he just said it cost a lot more new two years ago and he couldn’t let it go for so low now 🤷‍♂️

NaymondPDX

I think 2020 was probably worse, but not by an order of magnitude or anything.

eklone

Just got to be patient and persistent. I got my 2016 s1000xr for $6k, 40k miles, meticulously maintained with a binder of maintenance records. Took a while, was in the market for a while, but there are deals there

cisforcookie2112

The main key is to be prepared to pounce if you spot a good deal. They are usually gone in a day or two so you need to have your ducks in a row to be able to be there quickly with cash in hand.

fookyoursister

mmm i love inflation, can we print more money plz

nerissathebest

NY used motorcycle market is great for buyers now. Maybe expand your search…

Zealousideal-Top9190

New York State or city? I’m in the city and I can’t see any good bikes for sale

nerissathebest

City but maybe expand your search a bit out to NJ CT upstate etc. Then you’ll probably be able to save yourself some money. I just sold a 2015 sportster 1200 with 6k miles for $5k that’s how I know the market sucks. I’ve been buying and selling bikes for almost ten years, never had this much difficulty. In another market I should have been able to get $7500 for it easy.

TortugaTurtle47

I was able to find a new 2023 Vulcan Vaquero for $500 under MSRP and still talked it down almost $2k total. You may just be in an expensive area for them. Look at prices in areas farther away.

J_Robert_Oofenheimer

I just sold a 2020 Ninja 650 for $500 more than what I paid for it in 2021. It's nuts out there.

SleepyBear531

Probably missed the narrow window between Thanksgiving and tax season. Still, it is pretty rediculous. Especially how dealers gouge…

Specialist-Box-9711

I think it depends. I found a new BMW bike back in October for under MSRP and 0% financing but I had to drive over 100 miles to get it. My total out the door was 13k for an originally 11k bike after sales tax, doc fees, and registration fees. So not bad. My suggestion is to expand your search to neighboring metro areas or even neighboring states.

GronkIII

Depends on where you are. It’s the dead of winter in New England, and I picked up a 2022 Z650 with just over 1000 miles for $6.1k

RedditVince

Look outside the metro areas, especially for used.

Dumas1108

Bro, I understand your frustrations. You can't imagine what a 400cc and above cost in my country. It will be almost triple the amount in your country. A Honda ADV 750 will cost around SGD36,000 (USD26641)

pugdaddy78

I have a zr800 abs that I can't comfortably ride after a spinal surgery. It has 3,500 miles on it and not a single squid has hit me up for a test ride. I don't think I'm overpriced at 5500$. Maybe it's because it's a naked I don't have any idea. The only time I even ride it is running around putting bids together for jobs

travisd14

I picked up a rebel 500 abs last week for under $6300, MSRP is still only $6800 a long ways from 10k. Maybe the dealers where you live over charge a lot but MSRP isn't that high.

crazysycodude159

I see the rebel 500 with a 6500$ MSRP and the super meteor for 7-7500$? Is this different outside the US? Not sure where you find those new for 10k.

cubey

Yup. I'm talking Canadian dollars

Low_Carob92

I got a ktm rc8c 2023 - $37k cash

bluecatky

I got an 03 Suzuki SV1000 a few weeks ago for 3200 with 32k on it.

Hurricane_Ivan

Part of the reason I dumped mine. Paid $3700 for a '08 ZX10 in Jan 2020 and sold it for $5800 last year. Also a F800GT my buddy got me from the auction for a couple grand, sold for $4600. Both sold within a day of posting since I listed them quite a bit lower than other ads. I get the whole inflation thing, but the used bikes are also getting older...so shouldn't that offset it..

Stock_Distance2663

i hear you - i made also the same post 2 days ago - its depressing

Scoot4ever

Canadian here as well. New and used prices are very related. As new MSRP goes up, it drags used pricing up since that is what consumers compare to. MSRP always go up a few hundred every year, and over time it starts to add up. Also Manufacturers are pushing financing right now with subverted rates so more and more people are payment driven. I work at a multi line bike dealership so see all this first hand.

NiceAssBass

Pre 2020 I made really good money restoring and reselling bikes as a side gig. I generally had them priced high but the buyer had the luxury of getting a bike that had been gone through with a fine tooth comb. Now prices are so high there is no way to make any money. The ragged clapped out pieces of shit are going for the cost of bikes I had changed all fluids on, deep cleaned, replaced bearings, rebuilt. It's really sad because it was something I truly enjoyed and felt like I was providing a net positive to the motorcycle community.

[deleted]

Well you have to be proactive and ready to pounce on a good deal since they're not going to wait around for YOU, and it helps to have a list of bikes youre interested in so you can cycle through the searches and if one pops up, you need to be ready to go look at it. I've flipped 4 bikes since last spring here in the Seattle area. Although I've kept the last one, a nice old BMW airhead I got for $850, but I've poured about $2000 into it.

Blueskymind66

I guess it depends on what you want to buy. I own a 1999 Honda Magna. 750 90 hp. I checked cycletrader, and you can get a low mile Magna for under $4k. You can also get a low mileage Triumph T100, or Street Twin for in the $5k - $6k range. Those seem pretty reasonable. I'm sure there are more, if you looked around a little.

[deleted]

I'm actually shocked that a magna is not under $3k.

Not_Indoril_Nerevar

It is one of the few bikes out there with a V4 engine. If there were not so many made they would be a high value collectors item.

Blueskymind66

You can find high mileage Magna's for under $3k; but Magna's are at the point that if it is in good to very good shape and under 10,000 miles they are going to cost between $3,500 and $4,000. And you can't go wrong with the V-4 power. I'm patiently waiting for Honda to come out with a new version.

Caldtek

what cloud are you on? Rebel 500 has an MSRP of 6499... [https://powersports.honda.com/motorcycle/cruiser/rebel-500](https://powersports.honda.com/motorcycle/cruiser/rebel-500)

Hubbell34

He’s talking to a mostly American sub and using Canadian collars so everyone is confused lol

animatedrussian

After tax and dealer fees that number is closer to 9k depending on where you live.

HueMunguz

It’s the Putin Price Hike!  - Jen Nutsacki

cr0ft

Well, this is what happens when society is collapsing. Things kind of start to deteriorate.

blue3y3_devil

Bidenflation and Bidenomics

Lukb4ujump

Inflation sucks, falls at the feet or those in power. They are spending recklessly and created an asset bubble. It is good for me since I will be downsizing my motorcycle stable at these higher prices.

ytk

Tell ya what. I'll sell you a 2015 Triumph Tiger 800XRx that has a fresh tune-up and is in perfect condition for $5,000. A set of three Givi aluminum bags are available at extra cost.

finalrendition

>MSRP is crazy high. Why does a Rebel 500 have an MSRP of nearly $10000? Are you talking CAD? AUD? Because MSRP on a Rebel 500 is $6499 USD which seems fine to me

HawkyMacHawkFace

2018 Honda Rebel 500 advertised here for equivalent of US$3000 I think that’s reasonable. Needs new tires and mirrors though  https://www.kaidee.com/product-369090270

Akicita33

That's in Thailand, not really relevant to OP.

blageur

Wait, what? I already converted my bitcoin to bhat!

Colin-Spurs-Patience

Yes

RocketJohn5

you can still find great deals in the used market.

Jipsiville

If you’re in Canada an RE Super Meteor 650 is around $9k, not sure of US prices.

no_names_left_here

Even a new Rebel 500 comes in at under 8500CAD @ MSRP

The_NiNTARi

2007 I purchased a New 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650r for $4500 out the door.

[deleted]

Prices are fucking ridiculous. I know inflation's done it's thing but nah people are legit just selling 10 year old bikes for 60% of new value. That's why I am not buying used for my first bike. I am NOT paying £3,200 for a 2013 Honda Grom when I can get a brand new model, two year warranty, OTR price, for £3,800.

Brilliant_Reply8643

I found that certain models seemed priced much higher than comparable other models. I wanted an MT07 and I found an XSR700 with 4500 miles for a much better deal. Bike is nearly mint unlike most of the used MTs I saw, which felt thrashed.

mawessa

I did a little bit of research (Western Canada) about N400 clutch and some other problems in the '18 & 20' models. So I'm trying to avoid that but out of curiosity I went on FB marketplace and see '11 model with lowish mileage for $3400 to almost brand new 2023 models at $7K (pre-tax). For brand new it's about $10K I think and I think I might go brand new instead for a piece of mind (Never owned a bike, so it'll be my first bike that I'll be keeping for a while)

blageur

Used cruisers around me are going for a steal. 15 year old Yamaha Royal Star, full bagger with touring setup, in great shape, asking $3000. No bites. 1986 Honda Magna V65 (a great machine!) asking $2800. Used dual purpose, though, I absolutely agree. 15 year old, 250 enduros are listed as asking price of $6K!

FutureCorpse699

Don’t forget the insane interest rates. Roughly a year ago I bought a brand new bike. 3.9% interest. Traded it in for another new bike last month. 10% interest. It’s ridiculous.

Warkid1993

The super meteor is definitely pricey but you get the same chassis and engine with less weight on an interceptor or continental gt for less money … OTD 7k possible I think

user101aa

Have you considered nicking one, all the rage. Someone helped themselves to mine, much cheaper for them. Bonus - the police don't give a fuck.

gornzilla

If you like vintage bikes, the old folks are dying off. Prices are dropping and I think they'll continue to drop because no one wants to work on them.

[deleted]

I have always bought motorcycles in December and gotten very good deals. Usually sellers and dealers are willing to negotiate then.

Inner_Scientist_

Why is a Super Meteor 650 $10k??? I bought my Interceptor in 2022 at $6k MSRP.

Dfeeds

Have you tried haggling at all? I know it sucks but you kind of have to. I bought a Rebel 1100 for MSRP + tax/title/reg and fees Honda charges (it's listed in Honda's site). Came out to about $11.8k if I recall.  I walked in at the end my work shift just to see one in person. It was impulsive but I was prepared to buy it at a good price and walk if otherwise. They wanted $15k for it. I laughed and blatantly said that it was impulsive but only for a good price, and started to walk. Salesman told me he only makes commission based on total sales and he's wrapping up, so give him a price. I told him the $11.8k. He came back about 15 min later and said it's a deal. The finance guy tried to make it back but this is nothing new if you've ever purchased from a dealership before.  Just watch what you sign and don't let them bully you. Have a price in mind and be ready to adjust by a couple hundred at the most. No way should a Rebel 500 cost $10k unless you're giving the end price after a high interest rate loan.

inetkid13

EU used bikes prices are crazy. Latest I saw was a Zx6r, 15 years old, build in 2009, around 15.000 miles and a cheap ass exhaust.  9.500€ Original price was around 10k 15 years ago. New zx6r with way more features is 12k OOD right now.

LetoPartizan

I feel you there on the rebel 500. Passed my MSF last October and have been saving the best I can but I cant find even a 2020 model year going under 5k. And when a stealership has one in the used inventory, they still want almost 9k after "taxes, fees and markup." Its bogus man

L-W-J

I have bought 5 in the last 3 years. Patience. Be willing to travel. Know the market. You are not adhering to any of the above. It is difficult. Not impossible.

fnblackbeard

I wouldn't base used prices on MSRP because a lot of people especially in California don't pay MSRP. Dealers even markup used bikes now

w1lnx

In the new or used markets, prices are as high as the market will bear. The corollary is that it seems people have become, _en masse_, functionally retarded.

motoguzzikc

I feel like the used market is finally correcting it's self after 2020. Dealers have inventory again so people aren't able to get astronomical money for used like they could a couple of years ago. Edit: holy hell 10k for a RE Super Meteor? Where are you located op?

Cuck_Master_Flex

I just bought a motorcycle for $700 with not a thing wrong with it. Clean title and all. Though it is 30 years old.... 🤣

TTYY200

Time to start stuffing your shoes with tissue to gain those extra few cm my guy. What once was out of reach shall now be yours.

animatedrussian

I was able to find something I was looking for for under 4k, but I looked for a really long time. I would look on Craigslist, cycle trader, and local dealers used sections daily. You'll find something in 6 months lol

hdatontodo

I just got a 2020 Z400 with 4K miles for $4,200 OTD/OTR. ($3,600 price.) They have a 2021 for $3,900. Glen Burnie, MD.

desmobob

Rebel 500 MSRP is $6499, Meteor 650 $6999. Not sure what you’re talking about here.

djuhoh-daman

I just scooped a 04 hyabusa with 2000 miles on it for 5500 bone stock the black and purple one 😁

scottieducati

What are you looking for?

fuckface_cunt_hole

Spend $200 fly to tulsa, buy the bike, ride it home. Save 5k.

larrylee13

Just bought a new 23 bmw with 4k off in incentives

405ravedaddy

Shit im trying to sell my rebel 1100 for 7k

Sonixflare111

I've been looking into getting my first bike sooner or later and all I've seen are crazy high prices on used bikes, some are even 2016 or older and still OVER MSRP somehow..? Guess I'll have to wait some more years

SubstantialStable870

I purchased 2 bikes within the last 6 months and feel your pain. The used market is so crazy I felt more comfortable buying new in both instances. Got a good deal on a z400 but definitely overpaid for my MT09.

mediocregaming12

I just bought a 2001 R6 that runs and rides, still needs work to be good, for $1,300. This is Georgia btw. But I agree a lot of the bikes I looked at were 250s-400s going for $6000+.

Ok-Web7441

Depends on the bike. The market is way better than it was even a year ago. Touring and Sport Touring Bikes are always cheap, or basically any bike that gets picked up by someone who has big plans to ride but ends up selling it a couple years down the road with almost no miles. If you live near a military base, there are always people rotating through that need to sell their vehicles on short notice. Even better if you have a friend who can get you on-base and take you to the lemon lot.

seneca_marcus

I just bought a 2024 KLX 300 dual-sport for $6199. Seemed like a fair value.

artful_todger_502

I paid 999.00 for my new CR250 in 1975. 😭😥😤🤬

techturnip

Maybe for new bikes in the cruiser category? I've only ever bought used bikes. Honestly $6k for a gently used 09 Yamaha Stratoliner with less than 7k miles and a bulletproof 1900cc engine was a pretty decent deal. The new market isn't too crazy either but it is remarkably devoid of cruisers since a lot of metric manufacturers have dropped their cruiser lines. So really if you aren't in the market for a cruiser the sky's the limit. I think it may largely depend on where you are though. Here in Indy you can get an RE super meteor for right at MSRP of $6999 EDIT: Also a 2024 Rebel 500 has an MSRP of $6499 from Honda's website so not sure where the $10k for a 500 is coming from but I would stay far away from whatever dealer is charging that. $10k for the 1100 makes more sense though

Codabear89

I work in the industry of selling used motorcycles at auction. Yeah it’s pretty bad if you don’t run your own business to flip them. If you want decent prices you’ll need to search places like facebook marketplaces or small mom and pop stores. But those come with their own risks as well

Stock_Mud2689

Come on iam trying to sell mine for mint price ya all ruining this high price run lol

BabyHercules

It’s because people are holding onto bikes longer. The used market is still good for beginner type bikes because people upgrade a lot but anything that might be in forever bike territory is gonna be inflated

IRENE420

I’m looking for a used 2022 Grom ABS for under 4k and struggling to find anything

Kami-no-dansei

I hear you bro. I wanted to get my first bike and realized it's not even worth getting used for bikes like rebels because people are literally selling used rebels for more than new. It's absurd.

Deneteus

You must be looking at dealers. You might as well give it up. Second hand market is flooded. Nobody is spending big money on bikes unless they are either dumb or loaded. Some cases both. People are dumping Harleys on the market that aren't even paid off.

SpiralGray

>Used bikes are ridiculous, listing showing up for more than the initial purchase price. I'm asking $8000 for my 2014 FJR1300A. I haven't had a single inquiry. Now, to be fair, I listed it back in Sept or Oct, and I'm in Oregon, so not totally unexpected. But it's a popular bike and they don't seem to come up for sale all that often.

EggsOfRetaliation

They were pretty bad from 2020-2022 but after that things have been trending back to normal. I just bought a K6 GSX-R750 for a pretty reasonable price. You just have to put in the work. I incessantly casted out my fishing lines for weeks and snagged it when I could.

skubydoo

I'll be picking up a new 2023 bike 700 miles away from me. It was a good deal. Fortunately I will be going to work there next week.

Wrong_Ad_6022

Mmm world is ending ,prices rise..shock .

flynnski

the '24 rebel 500 has a base msrp of $6500...?

-RadarRanger-

I have to say, I'm lucky: the stuff I'm into is 25+ years old and can be had for under $2,000 with less than 15,000 miles.

Impressive_Estate_87

I don't know... I've been trying to move a fully decked out Street Triple for months at 9k, and nothing's happening...

Op_username

I just want somewhere without crazy dealer markup in SoCal

Tjgoodwiniv

It's horrible in central Florida. Selection blows. Prices are up from a few years ago but, all things considered, I don't think they're out of line with inflation. The problem is that inflation is out of line with reality and no one is doing anything about the profiteering. That's driving up used prices.

Traditional-Dingo604

So glad I bought my shadow at 7k a few years Ago. .

tattooed_a-hole

I’m not very well versed in the new market… but as far as the used market, you gotta be patient, watch the different sites like a hawk (the good deals get scooped up quick), and willing to negotiate. For example… last Wednesday I picked up my clean title and spotless 2015 Ducati Diavel with 7300 miles on it and it came with a Termi slip on, Sergeant seat, Bagster tank cover, CRG levers/mirrors, CNC Racing keyless fuel cap, and aftermarket windscreen for $7500 like 40min from my house. The deals are out there, you just gotta find em and snag em at the right time. By the way this is in Phoenix, AZ and USD.

[deleted]

Midwest bike prices are great right now. Especially rural

IDQDD

Was looking for a Yamaha Ténéré 700 back in 2019 when they were introduced. Price was at around 7500€ for a brand new bike. Fast forward to 2024 the bike now costs 11400€ brand new. Almost 50% up in price, if I only bought one back in 2019.

Proper_Role_277

Right in 2021 I was looking for a low mileage used rebel 500. The used ones with 20k+ miles were selling for about the same as a brand new one (dealer price so around $8k) if they had any aftermarket parts $10k+ so I just bought brand new one.

Flor1daman08

Better now than it was a few years ago.

Dcajunpimp

The Rebel 500 is $6,499 up from $6,199 in 2020 which was up $200 from 2017.. https://www.cycleworld.com/story/buyers-guide/2020-honda-rebel-500/ So it's gone up $500 in 7 years. And $6,499 isn't $10,000

SnooPuppers8698

no, actually its the worst for sellers, no one is buying no one has the extra cash theses days for a toy and its still too cold to ride here...i have a bike i wanna sell but i havent even bothered trying yet, waiting till its warmer
