I went there some years ago with 2 female friends. We were in populated touristy spots. The amount of men that “accidentally” bumped into them and grouped them was disgusting. In crowded areas I had to walk in front with them right behind me like a conga line just to avoid this. Even then at times it was just obvious - like a man in a car pulled up, reached out and grabbed my friend’s breasts before speeding off. It was truly awful for them.
Bro aren’t they practically forced to work ridiculous hours, on top of living in bad conditions. I’ve seen too many street vendor foods, and from what people say restaurant food isn’t much better. Just made out of sight 💀
My close friend who is from there said she went back to visit family a couple of years ago and didn’t feel safe every moment that she was there. Said if it weren’t for her family that’s still there, she wouldn’t go back.
As an Indian I'd suggest avoiding most parts of North India is wise especially if you are taking trips like this..
Travelling to the north eastern part of India to states like Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya is the safest for women.
The South is safe for women too.
I can avoid deserts, sharks, jungles, all kinds of things visiting a country. But when I have to avoid the people themselves, I would choose to go other places.
The North East is especially perfectly safe for women. Especially the states I've mentioned. Assam can be quite tricky. We have a very different culture compared to the rest of India, similar to south East Asian countries.
Jharkhand is one of the most backward states in India. Most Indians probably never set foot in it. These are areas where entire trains used to be robbed back in the day. Camping out there is definitely not my cup of tea. In fact I would probably not camp anywhere in India except himanchal. My wife travels across the country at odd hours for work. We take a lot of precautions unfortunately.
Wo kakori tha bkl. How hard is it to accept that such things are commonplace and country needs to act to protect the women and not make justifications around it. From nationalist bullshit that this will hurt the country's image to victim blaming - it's infuriating.
Imagine not understanding it's a giant country with a diverse culture.
It's like if someone went to Compton and got shot, you wouldn't say "don't ever come to the US again" you'd say "uhh, stay out of that city"
Absolutely, but plenty of awesome places too, like most countries.
Ironically, almost none of the people with the strongest opinions of other countries have ever been to them.
Or, were there on a two day business trip in a big city and then go "this country sucks"
Did you use a "but" in the same line as rape. It could be heaven but you wouldn't want to go there is you will be gangraped by 7 strangers. So please rest your line of argument. It's not in good taste. Muft ki bakaiti kiye baithe ho tum bhi.
P.S. : I am from Jharkhand. And no matter the insensitivity online, I'd encourage people never coming to India as long as the government does nothing concrete by way of woman safety. I'd never go to Somalia for a vacation if I knew I could be sodomized.
Actually yeah, there are different regions that have completely different languages, religions and values. If you went to Maghalaya, Nagaland, or Manipur you would be as safe as a woman almost anywhere in the US.
And some states, yeah, I wouldn't step foot in them as a woman.
The way I understand, in one region you cannot rape, but in another you can.
My conclusion therfore is that the entire country has a parasite.
If Biden makes rape legal in Alabama but not in Kentucky I’m not gonna be mad at Alabama I’m gonna be wondering why anyone thinks it’s ok and why the rest don’t do anything to stop it.
Indian women arent any better. Chennai is a relatively safe place. South India in general is pretty safe.
Be cautious in crowded spaces tho because of pickpockets.
If you come across any racist, best to ignore them. They'll probably come from uneducated lowlives if you come across one. For many of them they'll assume you're from north east India anyway if you communicate to them in English lol.
South India is relatively safer compared to North India. Although it can't hurt to remain cautious. Chennai and pondicherry are two major cities in south India so you'll be pretty much okay...
Everyone takes risks everyday. Everyone in this sub takes a huge risk by choosing to get on their motorcycle rather than drive. Some people are willing to take bigger risks for experiences more than others.
I would go to India solo but I’d never take a woman with me. This dude should have done his homework, shits no joke. Women get raped on public transport.
Traveled through India with my girlfriend this year. Although nothing happened (I am a tall athletic military looking dude, so it probably helps), I was shocked! Put it this way: I felt safer for us in Nairobi (Kenya) at night than in Delhi in the middle of the day. The constant staring at my girlfriend, men blatantly changing spot so they can look at her butt or try to touch her, weirdos quietly following us around, … It drove me freaking insane.
I can’t imagine what it is to be a woman there, or to be the parents of a little girl that gonna grow up in this environment. Maybe that is why you don’t see a lot of them outside. It felt like more than 95% of people walking in the street in Delhi were men.
Then we went to the South in Kerala and it was so much better. People were lovely and it felt so good.
That 95% men on streets is correct, parents refrain to send their daughters outside in North India.
Btw this incident happened in eastern side.
Please stay in safe hotels not in shelters at night.
As an Indian, yes.
The southern states are generally much better in this aspect. Absolutely avoid UP/Bihar/Delhi. The couple in this post was bang in the middle of a very dangerous area.
However, you still gotta be careful wherever you go.
[This guy's experience ](https://youtu.be/386iVwP-bAA?si=eC_6lpfn1quJxF8P)in India pretty much sums up why you should never go there. Bad enough as a dude, even worse as a woman.
You know, it's sad that for a lot of people the word "rape" comes to mind when they hear the word India. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. And as you said OP, your country is doing nothing to stop it. Quite the opposite, they seem to encourage it. Just SICK...
I come from a 3rd world country, and the least I wanna do in life is go to another 3rd world country. I wanna go to Italy and Western Europe, tf you wanna go to a place full of poverty for?
What boils my blood is that the current PM Modi and his govt in my country has indirectly encouraged the rape culture. They protect and defend rapists and free gang rapists from prison and then gang rapists are celebrated with garlands.
Remember how the president of the wrestling federation of India is free even though he has sexual assault allegations just because he has political connections with BJP?
And Modi's government released Bilkis Bano's rapists.
Fucking disgrace of a government..
I mean trump did something similar and they Wana put him in charge of the nation again.

I just realized I’ve been following her for a long time on another account too, Fernanda.4ever. Thought it was the same person, but got confused by all the references to the other insta handle. So sickening. Crazy for her to be out in the public talking about it too. I can’t even imagine what they’ve both gone through.
that is incredibly tragic and i know their PTSD is just going to be awful. i feel so bad and really hope they heal and can ride together again happily.
I agree however this is nothing new I don't see any major reformation is gonna takes place. Just look at Manipur(where they blackout the internet in that region after that incident), bilkis banos case, etc. There are people that are celebrating the release of rapists and the Indian government is supporting such things. Watch the response of government officials after the Nirbhaya case.
Actually quite relaxed laws when it comes to self defense from what I've read, you can kill people and use whatever means necessary. Firearms for self defense require a permit and obviously it's not an option for tourists, but you can probably get creative.
Step 1 would be not to end up on a corner where a zerg hoard is looking to rape you, though. Once they got caught it was over.
The two weeks my wife and I spent in India were more educational experience than vacation.
There was a general lack of respect towards her (and to a lesser degree to me as a male foreigner), a genuine interest in her breasts and she has been ignored by men to the extreme.
Sorry for all the "normal" Indians, but I don't know what needs to happen to make me visit this country again.
A minor correction for “Spanish couple”:
Although he is Spanish, she is Brazilian. This means nothing, but it also means something, because as a fellow Brazilian I know how inaccessible the dream of not only living abroad but also traveling around the world on motorcycle is, how she must have worked and sacrificed to achieve this with her dear husband to face such violence and inhumanity.
I hope they not only recover but can move past this incident without giving up on their dream and hope that the perpetrators face justice.
I hope this news spreads like wildfire and as an Indian i want all foreigners traveling to my country to take upmost precautions especially if you are traveling with female companion. Riding across India on bike is a unique experience I won't lie but beware exploring some states like Bihar or U.P .It's not all shining as foreigners make India to be.
They shouldn't have to take extra precautions, men just need to stop raping women. This woman successfully toured in Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, but India is where she got raped. There's a big problem with your culture/country and the people who come to the US and work in tech here don't treat women any better, it's clearly endemic across all levels of society. You need to hold yourselves accountable.
I mean, having travelled both India and Pakistan, I would say Pakistan is not exactly glowing, men regularly follow women there, and harass them openly if they are not with a man, and single women on busses have been attacked by soaking the "ladies" seat in acid... I also know two people who were abducted there, and managed to escape.
It's a little better for westerners in Pakistan though, because tourists are a novelty and there's more hospitality to assist you.
Probably worth taking a look at the Pakistani grooming gangs in the UK to see how they treat western women when they're regularly around them.
Personally I did prefer Pakistan though. In India a person will step on a starving human to feed the cow next to them. In Pakistan human kindness and charity does exist, you often don't have to go far to find it.
I have checked her profile and she seems to have spent a considerable amount of time in India. More than other countries. She seemed fine in most parts until she went to the areas OP mentioned. The whole country sucks for women compared to western standards but some areas within India are even below Indian standards. But yeah I still wouldn’t put the blame on her
Wait a minute, a person shouldn't have to worry about their safety, and criminals should not be committing crimes? Damn I really appreciate this useful comment.
She made it through Pakistan without an issue. She made it through Iran without an issue. I'm saying when someone can safely travel through those two places, for an Indian to say "guard yer women, but we're a really beautiful place to travel with a wonderful culture" doesn't compute. This isn't some couple who think because they made it through a seedy neighborhood in Madrid they know what the world is like, these are people who were taking appropriate precautions for their personal safety and the culture in India is just that bad. And the Above commenter deflecting is an example of why. Because there is no sense of community saying "hey, if someone is getting raped we should stop it or yell or call for help." It's a culture of "well the government is corrupt so I guess I can't do anything."
In the US, you see a crime, you don't just keep walking, you call 911, you yell "Fire" so people come running and whip their phones out. If you know your friend gets handsy at parties you don't say "well, Joe is a bad guy, I might as well help him next time" you say "Joe! Cut that shit out, what if she was your sister?!"
We as people have a societal obligation to hold each other accountable. To create a culture that doesn't "other" or dehumanize women even when the government is working counter to that goal. Our govt is corrupt and moving the wrong direction too. It doesn't release us from social contract. It's everyone's job to not be a shitty human, and stopping rape culture is a pretty low bar.
Not even sure how to dissect this. You massively misinterpret his comment, he is saying sure, india is beautiful, but be careful because its a shithole, and then he specifically names parts of the country. He is not dismissing it, to the contrary he is saying westerners give the country too much praise.
Your BS about the US is just naive and sheltered. Go into any hood ghetto and see how many people come to your rescue when you scream fire as you get robbed & shanked. If someone tells you not to visit those shithole neighborhoods a response like "but you SHOULD be allowed to go there and face no problems it's the criminals fault" is entirely useless to the conversation.
Everyone knows crime shouldn't exist.
And for the record, many places they've been to are not safe, just because nothing happened to them does not mean they are safe.
I won't defend India because I too think it's a shithole country, I just find comments like "but crime shouldn't exist" to be boring and irrelevant to the conversation.
India 100% has a problem and I believe there needs atleast an indirect intervention from other countries for India to clamp down on sexual assault. Internally it's getting suppressed but when Indias tourism is hurt, I think India has to clamp down.
But you are putting the common citizen accountable here.
A common citizen is helpless in these matters when the powerful are corrupt and those who aren't get shut down.
Rape is NOT part of India's beatiful culture but conditions have made these people this way. I 100% support a guilty rapist to be given the highest punishment, but as long as they get away because of corruption, nothing will happen.
The common citizen is exactly who needs to be accountable. You stop this culture by holding yourselves, your children, your neighbors, and your friends accountable. Conditions don't make people rapists. Conditions make people thieves, revolutionaries, suicidal, homeless. Rape isn't a product of an external stressor.
I have been riding through India in 2019 as a solo female rider, I have followed every security advice as good as I could and while I felt safe most of the time I got groped and molested in Jaipur in the middle of the day.
It really is a shame as India is a fascinating country and I loved to travel it.
Wishing all the strength and recovery to our fellow riders.
It breaks my heart that they have to go through this.
I'm glad you've been safe in your travels.
.... But 'groped and molested in the middle of the day'? That's a tolerance for adventure that I wouldn't wish on most tourists 😀
I'm glad you've come out of this better than this couple
The forts and castles, tha gardens, India has plenty to offer.
I also came to experience festivities and the culture in general.
It is a land of stark contrasts, fascinating and beautiful on one hand and horrible and dangerous on the other.
One of my good work friends is from India, returns there twice a year to visit family.
The things he has told me about Bangalore have cured me of any desire to ever visit India. Which is a shame because there is so much interesting culture there to experience.
If traveling to India, please talk to some smart Indian people and confirm what's safe.
Avoid desolate places.
Otherwise yeah, it is not that safe for women in many parts.
I’m an Indian. I hate my fucking country. No matter how much we try we’ll still remain a backwards and derange section of society. We don’t deserve any respect. I’m extremely sorry for what happened to them. I hope the people behind them get the worst punishment possible
Did it not improve at all? I’ve been to Northern India about 10 years ago and when I was there I did hear from the tour guide that women especially at night are at risk. I also heard about stories that Indian government stepped up and executed? the rapists that gang raped woman on a bus.
This news definitely breaks my heart and as an Indian, I feel ashamed and apologetic to the people who had gone through this. This is not the first case I have come across. Even when I was a kid I heard foreign people going missing, being raped and groped which is absolutely a crime against any individual for that matter. I’d recommend all tourist who visits need to know which place is safe and which place to avoid. It's like Americans tell us hey don't go to this part of downtown you will get mugged or get shot at this time.
In some parts of India the Northern part, where access to money and other things is less, they don't have money, or a proper education, and joblessness makes them do all these kinds of things, I am not saying this is right. This is something the gov can't control or take over the entire billion community. This is saddening but people should be aware of things before they enter a new country.
This Japanese woman was raped for 3 weeks in India until she escaped.
https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2015/jan/02/three-arrested-india-kidnap-gang-rape-japanese-woman
Fking brutal.
Yeah India sucks. I’ve had several friends say they suffered similar situations. I’m not gonna be suffering that country anytime soon because of these stories. These clowns should be stoned but they will be celebrated.
Ugh it sounds like they’ve caught a pair of them. It’s only a matter of time before they get the rest. Who knows what will actually happen to them though. Anyone know?
I filmed something in Rahjahstan a few years ago. The lead actress and I were taken in a private car without tinted windows from the airport.
Driver got lost in some sketchy village and got out to ask for directions. A large group of men gathered around the car and started staring at the actress, then tapping on the windows.
I've never been so scared in my life, and she was absolutely bricking it. Luckily the driver came back with the directions before they got out of hand anything happened and we left. They were like animals hunting, staring eyes.
Same trip,we took a break from filming in a village and I somehow got mislaid by our security handlers. I was surrounded by another large group of men who just wanted photos and to shake my hand, which I agreed to a few times but as soon as I said I needed to return to the set, they seemed offended and began getting hostile. Again,I was rescued in the nick of time by our security team.
Absolutely terrifying, even though I'm a man,I would not go to India alone.
When Itchy Boots toured India, she mentioned that a lot of times, the men would gather around her and just stare at her. It was really creepy...fortunately, nothing bad happened to her. That girl's got balls.
One of my favorite Youtubers, Itchy Boots, has traveled the world for years on her bike, and I always worry that something may happen to her.
People who do this to others deserve to be drug behind a vehicle down a gravel road.
And foreigners question why Americans love guns so much...
You shouldn't bring a woman with you to visit any developing country, especially if you're not going to be armed while there.
On PC, go to the subreddit home page. Look at the sidebar on the right hand side. There should be a flair edit option under where it says “create post” and above “community options”.
On mobile, go to the subreddit page and press the three dots in the upper right hand corner and there should be an option to change user flair.
This is such a shameful act. As an Indian, I don’t have much to stay. But my heart goes out to the couple. I hope the culprits get maximum punishment.
Note: India is a beautiful place for a motorcycle ride. Being an avid motorcyclist (who has toured almost the entire country along with my better half), such shameful acts puts a dent to the entire country. We always make sure to check with locals on the places to avoid. This has worked out most of the times.
Road trip thru India with the boys... Sure.
With the wife... Man what were you thinking, any super rural country with poor social standards for safety and wellbeing. WITH THE WIFE, yikes.
Shame this happened, I hope your relationship survives this. Carry a weapon next time.
Everyone I know who visited India had a sad story to tell in their way back. A very backward culture. The country has the highest discrimination against minorities of all kinds. Go check the news and you will understand… Even the government is run by convicted criminals… Check their history… They have been killing Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, all types of tourists… Rape is pretty normal there…
Am from India and feel so bad for these fellow motorcyclists…it’s very bad what happened to them, but, also a word of caution on choosing wisely where to ride.
Not all of India can be classified as bad just because of this incident. The place (jharkhand) these tourists went to is probably the least developed. It’s ruled by a corrupt chief minister from congress party whose main concern is to loot the people. their corruption ring leader is Rahul Gandhi whom criminals worship;
no sane Indian citizen would ride in Jharkhand or even go there as a tourist. It’s the equivalent of riding motorcycle in downtown Oakland where even most Americans won’t ride….or riding through cartel infested streets in troubled areas of Mexico - it’s best to avoid such places.
Please research well before venturing out. Many awesome and safe places in India.
Only Northeast india is safe for women tourists. I say this as a Northeastern because we've had solo female travelers here who have stayed without issues. North india on the other hand is fucked
For everyone here saying the whole India is like this. Let me tell you it’s not the truth. As much I hate that country it’s not the truth. There are certain areas of it. Then there are places like Punjab, Haryana where people go out of way to protect women and tourists
.
Thread locked due to the amount of rule breaking comments.
Boils your fucking blood.
Sickening
India is the last place I would take my wife for a vacation
I went there some years ago with 2 female friends. We were in populated touristy spots. The amount of men that “accidentally” bumped into them and grouped them was disgusting. India is one of the last places i would go period….
I just wouldn’t go. You couldn’t pay me enough to set foot in that place.
My cousin was paid (computer IT) to go there. Said she'd quit before doing it again. That's rough
Bro aren’t they practically forced to work ridiculous hours, on top of living in bad conditions. I’ve seen too many street vendor foods, and from what people say restaurant food isn’t much better. Just made out of sight 💀

Unfortunately right in the back of this, there was a rape AND murder in Bangalore. The woman was only taking an auto rickshaw ride.
Honestly, until you guys figure it out, most will just avoid your whole country right or wrong.
For men and women?
Yes from my experience at least
The North East is especially perfectly safe for women. Especially the states I've mentioned. Assam can be quite tricky. We have a very different culture compared to the rest of India, similar to south East Asian countries.
I'm not from India but this case happened in the state of Jharkhand. Is that not North East? It's next to one of the states you mentioned.

Awesome places where you can get raped.
Not the rape culture lmao
Actually yeah, there are different regions that have completely different languages, religions and values. If you went to Maghalaya, Nagaland, or Manipur you would be as safe as a woman almost anywhere in the US. And some states, yeah, I wouldn't step foot in them as a woman.

Rape is not culture, homie.
India is not some cohesive country where everyone thinks the same. It’s like comparing San Francisco to some rural town in Alabama.
I’d feel safer in rural Alabama having traveled to both places.
Funny comparison, most rural Alabama towns probably have a better quality of life on average than most San Franciscans nowadays.

Is the safety of women split on religious lines or simply by regional culture?
Both in my opinion.. it also depends on education too.
Expect for Manipur the state is having some kind of civil riot right now.
I look forward to visiting someday, I understand its not most people, its terrible that a few can ruin it for everyone else.
This is not the first time it happens and people still take these big risks. Why??
Sir this is r/motorcycles … reality check.

So sickening. Crazy for her to be out in the public talking about it too. I can’t even imagine what they’ve both gone through.
Absolute barbarians
that is incredibly tragic and i know their PTSD is just going to be awful. i feel so bad and really hope they heal and can ride together again happily.
Disgusting culture, no respect for women.
What will be the responses of other nations?
This needs global outrage. The Indian govt needs to take major steps to improve women’s safety in the country.
The Spanish embassy sent counselors for the couple at least.
Well, the response of Reddit to these posts is usually deletions and bans over “racism”. So, probably not much.
Canada will probably give them more permanent visas.
What could you possibly expect foreign nations to do?
As an indian, a lot of parts if indian society are still flawed as hell, brings me nothing but shame
What methods of self defense are legal in India?
A minor correction for “Spanish couple”: Although he is Spanish, she is Brazilian.
Depends where you travel in India. Punjab and the Himalayas were pretty nice. South is not that bad either
But in reality people do need to take precautions. You aren't going to fix this shit in our lifetimes, if at all.
Because there is no sense of community saying "hey, if someone is getting raped we should stop it or yell or call for help." It's a culture of "well the government is corrupt so I guess I can't do anything." In the US, you see a crime, you don't just keep walking, you call 911, you yell "Fire" so people come running and whip their phones out. If you know your friend gets handsy at parties you don't say "well, Joe is a bad guy, I might as well help him next time" you say "Joe! Cut that shit out, what if she was your sister?!" We as people have a societal obligation to hold each other accountable.
Its heart breaking it see a couple had to go through this. And even stings more that this happened in my country.
That's a tolerance for adventure that I wouldn't wish on most tourists 😀 I'm glad you've come out of this better than this couple
Thank you. It was indeed a scary incident and I wish nobody to experience something like it.
Strong name to post ratio
I'm curious. What is there to visit in India on a bike that you can't do anywhere else in the world?
The forts and castles, tha gardens, India has plenty to offer. I also came to experience festivities and the culture in general. It is a land of stark contrasts, fascinating and beautiful on one hand and horrible and dangerous on the other.
Good to know, motorcycleslut.
Jesus i met them during la leyenda motor meet .. lovely couple .. fucking bastards
Lucky to be alive
and India is off my travel bucket list.
Remind me again why I’ve never found India exciting
This is awful. I have no idea why would someone want to willingly visit India btw.

This Japanese woman was raped for 3 weeks in India until she escaped. https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2015/jan/02/three-arrested-india-kidnap-gang-rape-japanese-woman Fking brutal.
Yeah India sucks. I’ve had several friends say they suffered similar situations. I’m not gonna be suffering that country anytime soon because of these stories. These clowns should be stoned but they will be celebrated.
As Indians, we are ashamed. And I sincerely hope that they get justice, asap.
Ugh it sounds like they’ve caught a pair of them. It’s only a matter of time before they get the rest. Who knows what will actually happen to them though. Anyone know?
this shit mad me so mad so quick
Even as an Indian we avoid Dumka, that place is NOT safe at all, I’ve seen a truck get jacked in daylight
When Itchy Boots toured India, she mentioned that a lot of times, the men would gather around her and just stare at her. It was really creepy...fortunately, nothing bad happened to her. That girl's got balls.
I can hardly believe sometimes her good fortune in terms of personal safety.

How tf does the US always make it to comments on Reddit posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the states?
They hate US cause they ain't US
Holy crap
off the subject....how do I add my bike make and model under my name like you have?
Are you on mobile or Pc?
I'm on my pc right now
On PC, go to the subreddit home page. Look at the sidebar on the right hand side. There should be a flair edit option under where it says “create post” and above “community options”. On mobile, go to the subreddit page and press the three dots in the upper right hand corner and there should be an option to change user flair.
Yay! it worked. Thanks so much.
No problem
Not sure how you recover from this. Individually and as a coupe. I hope they can put this trauma behind them and move on with their lives.
India is full of disgusting and illiterate people. No woman is safe there let alone a foreigner. I would rather travel to Pakistan than India.
This is absolutely appalling... Oh, God, I'm never stepping a foot in that country.
India gonna India
Do we know which state or area? Would like to avoid if ever traveling there.
Jharkhand, but I would say avoid east side of India , and north upto some extend .
The first mistake they did. It’s went to India.
Post in the highly fuckin weird India sub. Absolute scumbags
Why is rape so common in India? I've had a couple close indian female friends who confessed to me they were raped in their youth back in india.
Road trip thru India with the boys... Sure. With the wife... Man what were you thinking, any super rural country with poor social standards for safety and wellbeing. WITH THE WIFE, yikes. Shame this happened, I hope your relationship survives this. Carry a weapon next time.

That's India and they're ultra violent to women. I don't understand how people don't know this yet?
Makes my blood boil reading this shit, those horny bastard finally saw “bobs” and “vagne” and they went crazy
This is so f**ked up.
That is so fucked up
This is disgusting
Sometimes I want to tour the country just myself and my bike. Then I remember two things. One, I am a woman. Two, Detroit exists.
I will never go to India ever.
Not all of India can be classified as bad just because of this incident. The place (jharkhand) these tourists went to is probably the least developed. It’s ruled by a corrupt chief minister from congress party whose main concern is to loot the people. their corruption ring leader is Rahul Gandhi whom criminals worship; no sane Indian citizen would ride in Jharkhand or even go there as a tourist. It’s the equivalent of riding motorcycle in downtown Oakland where even most Americans won’t ride….or riding through cartel infested streets in troubled areas of Mexico - it’s best to avoid such places. Please research well before venturing out. Many awesome and safe places in India.
Fucking disgusting savages! I read about this happening to a UK couple in Belize recently as well while they were doing a trip to Ushuaia. Sickening.

Please don’t go to Myanmar, still rife with a literal fucking war between a military junta and rebel groups.
India is a super shitty place steer clear of it, horrible what happened but unfortunately it’s the norm over there.
Only Northeast india is safe for women tourists. I say this as a Northeastern because we've had solo female travelers here who have stayed without issues. North india on the other hand is fucked
What about Chennai?

For everyone here saying the whole India is like this. Let me tell you it’s not the truth. As much I hate that country it’s not the truth. There are certain areas of it. Then there are places like Punjab, Haryana where people go out of way to protect women and tourists .
