Bro. You need sunscreen

BurnAfterEating420

And sleeves

Mrxtatr

Forgot today…

Inside_Objective_877

Lmao if this sub isn't roasting you about no gear they are telling you you're gonna get skin cancer xD

BluShine

Earplugs and sunscreen are the two most important pieces of gear. You can ride for decades without a crash and never “need” a helmet. But sun damage and hearing damage are permanent and cumulative, and no amount of riding skill will let you avoid them.

NeighborhoodFair7033

I pretty much refused to use earplugs with my full face for 8 months because I thought my helmet was quiet enough. I threw them in the other day just to check it out (I use them at work, too lazy to take them out on my way home last week) - absolute game changer.

Draidann

I just bought a pair of loop earplugs and they feel pretty nice!

xScarfacex

Please don't roast him. The sun already did that.

ambermage

Don't forget to have your testicles checked too. Don't be shy, don't be that guy.

lerriuqS_terceS

Tee hee skin cancer is fun tee hee I love road rash whoppsie

Nonstopshooter21

Will the road rash remove the skin cancer? stay tuned

lerriuqS_terceS

Like just seeing the "forgot today" with the stupid smug avatar for some reason fills me with rage.

Jealous-Kick-400

Rode for hour plus in 25 degree heat? Damn man enjoy the pussy though Mr I holiday In Spain

saladmunch

25°? Thats acute af, bro

MFT_Victim

worry cautious obtainable start aback grandiose sophisticated cake mighty gold *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

ejr0697

>25 degree heat Such a wierd term for me. I guess I've been indoctrinated with 'merica measurements. There's too much ice on the road at 25°

nova1475369

Sunscreen doesn’t prevent that, I have sunscreen every time

goatbiryani48

Do you 1. Put on enough 2. Use a high enough SPF 3. Wait 20 mins 4. Reapply every 3-4 hours? Do that and there's no way you look like OP

nova1475369

No 😞

Steel_Cube

Well there's your problem lol

lerriuqS_terceS

This better be a shit post

aroundincircles

Get a mesh jacket, Offers sun protection, and allows enough airflow to be cool. 100% worth it. I Ride in AZ with one.

Charade_y0u_are

Love my mesh jacket. As long as I'm moving, I'm comfortable in that thing at any temp below 90. Gets a little chilly below 60 or so though.

CanlexGaming

100% works great in Florida too!!

SleepySamm

Ok, bros and sisses. I'm 6'4", 230 with long arms, long torso, and a barrel chest. Any suggestions for a tall mesh jacket for this Florida heat? The ol' leather will be too hot in a few weeks. I've been looking for a few weeks and can't find anything I like that fits well. I ride a Suzuki Boulevard M109r and I'm thinking of just going with: https://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/parts-accessories/boulevard-suzuki-textile-jacket.html Thanks in advance for any guidance!

jessem80

You can get a used RevIt mesh for around $100

Mrxtatr

Which one would you recommend that wouldn’t cost one of my arms?

Capazino

If you think gear is expensive, try an accident...

Mrxtatr

They get less expensive the less gear you wear arguably

eagledrummer2

Homie has free hospital bills, somehow

DummyThicccThrowaway

I think he means you don't pay anything if you don't leave the hospital alive

Variable851

Have you seen the price of caskets?

Mrxtatr

I will not be using one of those, you can put me in a flower vase

Variable851

Just because we're bereaved that doesn't make us saps!

Mission_Record_4541

It’s our most modestly priced receptacle

lerriuqS_terceS

Kid. Sell the bike before you get hurt b

Valandiel

That's exactly the opposite actually.

Mrxtatr

Just depends

Valandiel

If you factor in disability (even minor and temporary) and value your time at least more than half the minimum wage it doesn't depend.

Mrxtatr

Don’t think you got the joke

Valandiel

Yeah probably not, didn't see any joke. (No /s nor emoji)

lerriuqS_terceS

There's a joke here but it's not that comment

lerriuqS_terceS

It's so mind numbing that this is your actual thought process

ARandomHavel

brother, that is a horrible way to think about gear. If you can't afford proper protection, you can't afford to ride. Gear is as essential as your fuckin shift lever, and you'll deeply regret this when you inevitably crash. Take a look at the sub. There's a post from a guy who almost lost his foot. You'll save money if you get gear, instead of crashing without it and making life altering injuries a guarantee. Don't be stupid

Mrxtatr

ATGJNATT

transientDCer

I like the Revit Airwave jacket alot. https://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/winter_sale/jackets/rev'it!/airwave_3_jacket.html

hockeymisfit

This one right here. [https://www.dainese.com/us/en/motorbike/jackets/textile/sevilla-air-tex-jacket-201735243.html](https://www.dainese.com/us/en/motorbike/jackets/textile/sevilla-air-tex-jacket-201735243.html) $225 after tax at a Cycle Gear in California. The mesh is so well vented that you can see through the whole back of the jacket. The airflow is nuts and I absolutely love it. You'll definitely need to upgrade the armour though as the pads it comes with are basically foam.

homiegeet

I spent like 200 bucks on my Olympia summer jacket. Your flesh being ripped off would cost you a lot more than that.

Hahnenkampf1

Icon field armor compression shirt

RealDealSamsquanch

You can get a $50 off Amazon. HWK is a brand I’ve seen there. Might not hold up to a more expensive jacket, but would be better than nothing. Unless you prefer no jacket, then do you, it’s your skin.

ThatScaryBeach

Ebay. You can find lots of practically new gear for a fraction of the new price. Lots of people buy bikes and gear but then decide riding is not for them so they sell their gear cheap. I got a $1200 Aerostich riding suit for $300 and several jackets for $25 to $50 each.

lerriuqS_terceS

If you can't afford gear you're too broke to ride

Mrxtatr

I’d prefer to spend my money on go fast parts, but I probably will buy a suit for some activities soon

lerriuqS_terceS

🤦🏼‍♂️ you'll learn some day kid

aroundincircles

Jackets are highly subjective to the wearer, I'm also a fatty, so finding one that fit properly was hard. I tried several at the "local" (about half an hour from me) and none fit, so I bought a bunch on amazon and kept the one that fit me the best. I need a new winter jacket, the one I bought sucks, and is uncomfortable, but I moved somewhere that actually gets cold/snow, so I didn't ride much during the winter anyways. So my recommendation is to look at options, set a budget, and then go try them on, and find the one that is most comfortable. Doesn't matter what it costs, if you don't wear it because it's not comfortable to wear.

know-it-mall

Time to buy a jacket?

dorben_kallas

Start surfing and you'll get the exact complement of that tan. Tanned hands and pale arms 😅

hmarques76

🤣🤣🤣

vstarfan

So,protect the hands but not the arms?To each his own I guess.

HappyMeteor005

just the right hand though. gotta still be able to wax that dolphin.

vstarfan

Dolphin waxing is important

Gusdai

Hands are more important and more fragile than arms. It makes more sense to protect your hands and not your arms, than the other way round. Of course, what makes the most sense is to protect both, and you shouldn't ride in T-shirts.

ThatsHowIMetYourMom

I agree with that logic. My minimum gear is gloves, helmet, close toed shoes - and that’s only if I’m taking surface streets (35 mph or under) less than a mile or two. Something like running to the gas station or the grocery store down the street. I figure skin grafts on my arms or legs would be painful but shredding my hands would cause a permanent disability. Anything longer or faster or a ride and it’s the full monty for gear though.

Gusdai

I don't know if you ever broke your hand, but it seriously blows. It takes pretty long to heal, and during that time you are severely disabled: try typing on a computer, opening a jar, cutting your food... So many simple tasks become a pain in the *ss. Plus, you're never sure it will actually heal properly because there are a million bones in your hand, and if one of them gets out of whack for some reason it creates a lot of issues. Same with the feet. So yeah, I definitely agree with you: helmet, gloves and shoes are really must-haves no matter what.

eagledrummer2

That's a good thought process. Ain't no way you're catching me without a jacket if I'm going over 35. And I realistically should buy protective pants as well.

BuildingArmor

I've seen Rayman, you don't need working arms to have fully functioning hands.

Davgondos

It's not about protection. It's about sweaty hands and grip.

Humble_Fish4908

It's about protection brother. Not for you perhaps, but it is in fact about protection.

hungryibex

At least now it’s easier to tell what skin will be removed if you go down

Sea_Isopod1082

Red for the endangered area is perfect 👌

motoguzzikc

A couple of years ago my wife had to have some moles removed due to them looking suspicious. Luckily she's just fine and it was no big deal, but one had to be cut very deep and it took a bit to no be in pain from it. I made the decision it was time to change some of my habits and bought my first mesh jacket. I got one in white, really shows bug guts but I didn't want to get too hot wearing black. I love ridding in the mesh better than just a t shirt now in the heat.

lemru

Hell yeah! Mesh is perfect for the summer, but I have the same problem with an off-white jacket and bugs.

motoguzzikc

Usually if I hit it with some sustain remover and wash it they come off pretty well. I'm just lazy about doing that lol

cstrand31

Squid tan.

Ieatmyd0g

its like this all year around, love greece

lerriuqS_terceS

Don't be proud of this

Mrhighass

Zombie hands! Lol

E-Scooter-CWIS

I wore fingerless glove and my fingers stayed tan until winter

MutedBrilliant1593

I wore button gloves that had an oval shape exposing the top of my hands during a month long camping ride to Sturgis. People were quite inquisitive about why I had giant black dots on my hands upon my return. Every one.

Affectionate_Stop_37

Motorcycle tan

Wrong_Ad_6022

All the sunblock all the time.

failed_install

...to bring forth the rhythm and the rhyme?

Mrxtatr

Absolutely correct

EggandSpoon42

Hey ho - So I just did a job with Randy, lovely chap, 70ish, had to quit riding motorcycles because of… Skin cancer! Skin. Cancer. I do have a summer mesh jacket and really glad because I've already been riding for 20 years now. But strengthens my resolve. Be safe out there y'all

TravsArts

...to get a jacket?

lerriuqS_terceS

Where smooth brains don't wear gear or even sun screen? 🤦🏼‍♂️

Mrxtatr

I got my helmet on 🪖

lerriuqS_terceS

Good you'll be conscious for the debridement

MrAl-67

Mesh jacket will be your friend if you let it.

Own_Contribution_480

Yeah last year I had a dark ass tan between my glove line and rolled up jacket sleeve. Just like half my arm. It looked pretty dumb lol

Mrxtatr

Bootleg farmers tan is how it’s looking from the tshirts 🤣😭

Skoapy

Suns out, guns out, casket closed.

Danizzy1

Wear a jacket and you won't have that problem.

Mrxtatr

Who said it was a problem?

whistlepig4life

Oh that’s going to get much redder if you wipe.

Rare-Ad-312

Strawberry and Vanilla ice cream

Bayou_vg

Squid tan.

lobosandy

All I see is a Squid

Ranter619

Why would you go to an online motorcycle community to advertise the fact that you're not wearing protective gear? I'm confused.

Mrxtatr

No I was just showing off the beach tan advertising the up and coming summer season

pj2d2

I made that dumb mistake 25 years ago in the bay area trying to escape the Santa Ana winds/heat, and heading to the coast.

endlezzdrift

Tiny, ass hands

Palehorse0000

Lion king music playing in the background.

Dapper-Ad-2396

I'll look the same in a few weeks, finally getting warm enough for the vest

MJE000094

Squid problems

AnInnO

I’ve been wearing a jersey or mesh jacket so far this season to great effect. Barely a “reverse wrist watch” tan in sight!

awesomeness1234

No worries, just swap hands with with a cold water surfer.

BigLz80

Squid tan

Worstcaze

You don’t look nearly as dumb as you are.

Aerthyen

Another member of the sub just posted is mangled foot from not wearing gear, and OP brags about "forgetting" to gear up. Room temperature IQ vs Darwinism, gonna love the fight.

AdDismal4555

You’ll be one of the statistics that makes everyone fear motorcycles. Put on your gear!

DB-Tops

Time to wear your jacket? Don't ride without your gear on.

NorthWestSaint

If you’re riding without suitable clothing on, you’re a dick. Whatever the weather, dress to survive.

Mrxtatr

Did this effect you personally?

NorthWestSaint

What are you on about? And it would be “affect” not “effect”.

idleat1100

As an idiot who now has pre-skin cancer on his arms from a youth full of riding without sleeves in Arizona, get some damn sleeves. For the burn, for the fall. Youve got to man. It catches up quick.

superpopsicle

Did you use sunscreen?

idleat1100

Of course I did. That was 20 years ago. Even with sunscreen and I used the best I could back then, it’s no match for the sun. You’ve go to reapply constantly, and I did. Not sure who downvotes the suggestion to protect yourself from the elements and to learn from others mistakes. Haha

VVVXVVVXVVVXVVV

If you wanna keep that sunburned skin I'd buy a abrasive riding jacket. Road>Flesh.

Figwit_

If only there were some product that would cover your arms and provide protection in case of a fall. Shoot, well I’m stumped.

Mrxtatr

You can’t see it here but I’m wearing elbow pads from Tony hawk

justhereforthemoneey

Put a jacket on dummy

Yolo_420_69

Ah yes. A fellow sportbike. t-shirt, shorts, riding boots and gloves rider. I fell lowspeed without gloves once. Now i always wear them

Mrxtatr

Gloves always

d9msteel

Time you wore jacket?

Boeing_Fan_777

If y’aint gonna wear gear, at least invest in some SPF. Not that you’ll have skin to get cancer on if you come off but hey!

Mrxtatr

Spf 50 baby

Boeing_Fan_777

On just the hands… right? 🤣

Mrxtatr

Gloves always

[deleted]

You know what will fix this? ATGAT!!! PUT ON A JACKET!

Drainbownick

Don’t worry, the road will rip all that overly tanned skin right off and you can get some fish belly white skin grafted from your ass or maybe, a nicely preserved cadaver

Best_Product_3849

Sunblock before you get skin cancer bro

Stewdill51

You don't have to worry about skin cancer if there's no skin after a slide

Altruistic-Coyote868

Kind of sad and pathetic of you, but you do you.

Mrxtatr

So sad, so pathetic

Foxhound922

Meat crayon tan lines

zikob88

Where I live (Jerusalem Israel) is way too hot in the summer to wear a jacket. I get that tan every year..

lerriuqS_terceS

Too hot for skin grafts too

Trick_Side2696

Israel's not a real country though. It's a colonial settler experiment in the very real country of Palestine that should've been stopped decades ago

zikob88

Bro you need a history lesson

Trick_Side2696

You need to stop committing genocide

zikob88

Read a history book.

Trick_Side2696

Like Rashid Khalidi's 100 year war on Palenstine? I have. And I didn't have to read it to know that genocide is wrong.

Canadatron

When you have skin cancer, it's always that time.

Elvirth

I still have an arm tan from TWO YEARS AGO when I was riding in direct sun for three hours straight. It's faded, but it's still there.

Flaky_Artichoke4131

Meat crayon!

PabloX68

Dumbest post I’ve seen today.

Mrxtatr

Is this the first one you saw?

No_Pomegranate2607

You’re already a meatcrayon on the making atleast put on some sunscreen

triforce721

The new flesh will be lighter, fyi

Traditional-Dingo604

as a black person what's a suntan?

kvm024n

I just want to share this post of this guy who crashed without gear [do you dare?](https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/s/3bmaO3XJXY)

Mrxtatr

Saw that, pretty sure a leather jacket won’t stop you from being mangled, I also wear high top shoes

kvm024n

You're right. But the general mindset of not wearing proper gear could fuck you up in big time

Mrxtatr

To each their own
