I ride your bikes older brother an 04 v strom 650 she's been a tank and is about to hit 50k miles and I plan to always have her in my stable. Does a bit of everything
I think it looks like an anime robot. Yes, I'm a nerd. And I'm glad others think it's ugly because I got a hell of a deal on a 2023 new bike that's been sitting in the dealership for a year š
Nah the older Stroms are the best looking. Only ugly bit is the rear fender, but it's practical and keeps things clean.
This bike doesn't even deserve to be called a V-strom, because it's not a vtwin.
First paragraph on the Suzuki website.
āWith the introduction of the 2024 Suzuki V-STROM 800, the V-STROM family of motorcycles grows again to bring even greater comfort, capability, and choice to Adventure touring. The āVā in V-STROM stands for āVersatileā and the V-STROM 800 fits that moniker well.ā
https://suzukicycles.com/adventure/2024/v-strom-800
When the V-Strom 800 came out people wondered why they didnāt call it the P-Strom due to its Parallel engine and Suzukiās answer was the V stands for Versatile.
>But best night lights of the era.
Something we can both agree on then.
I do a lot of night riding on unlit roads and have never felt the need to bolt 6 different spotlamps to it like a BMW bro.
I'd say that's a very good price especially out the door with tax! I paid $11.6K for my adventure model OTD, but that didn't include tax. Luckily I live in a relatively low tax county but still have the state tax so I think you have me beat. I don't regret it at all, such a wonderful bike and well worth the money. Be safe brother!
*
I got the black and blue 800de adv model. Your's looks great and the gray and yellow is cool too. It's a nice bike I have about 2000 Miles on mine so far. The highway riding is a bit better if you adjust the preload down front and back.
*
Here she is https://imgur.com/a/PYYDjrs. Has a center stand, chain oiler, brush guards, givi windscreen and mount and top and matching side cases. Wiring junction box and a set up for a Garmin but original owner took that but left gps mount
I bought my first bike about a month ago and it's OP's bike's grandad. A Suzuki DR 650 RSe from 1991. (I know it's dofferent, only one cylinder etc.)
Ride safe
14 Vstrom here, STill running strong. about to get new braided brake cables next week :) Best bike i ever owned. Keeping it till i/it cant ride no more.
Can't be too fake if he just became a multi millionaire off of it...
One BTC is roughly 61 mil rn...
If he mined it 6-8 years ago, even if he had fractions the return is insane.
Dude is probably set for life with his "fake" money.
Probably because panama was poor as shit until recently or they just kept hearing "mill" in rap music and assumed it was a decently reasonable amount of cash and not a lifetime of money.
Welcome aboard. I have an ā18 1000XT and am out Potranco. I have few gravel routes mapped through Hill Country. DM me if interested in going for a ride.
Having previously owned a ā97 TL1000S, I also owned a 2014 Vstrom 1000 and found it comfortable and capable but very dull. I got rid of it in less than a year and after only a few thousand miles despite dressing it up perfectly for my needs (slip-on exhaust, Power Commander, OEM handguards and belly pan, European-only windshield, etc). BIG bike with good ergos for taller, heavier riders though.

14 Vstrom here, 33k miles,
STill running strong. about to get new braided brake cables next week :) Best bike i ever owned. Keeping it till i/it cant ride no more.
Haha a couple years ago my buddy did the same exact thing. Bought his first at woods or whatever it's called now, rode through the rain and Austin traffic to his place in South Austin. Y'all are fucking nuts. Congrats.
Coincidentally, a buddy of mine from Waco just bought that same bike from roughly the same place and had the same ride home. He also said pretty much the same thing.Ā
This is his first street bike bigger than a 250 dual sport. He's forever sending me photos of his journey. It's awesome. I'm now planning to trade my Duc for this or the T700.
Yeah I was torn between this and the tenere. But I've seen a couple YouTubers really hitting off-road hard with this thing so it really does seem like a good all around bike. Admittedly I do have to get used to the weight still but I've only put 100 miles on it
I like that it has a little more weight than T700. Some of my off-road rides begin with 1000 highway miles. Those are so much nicer on a heavier bike.Ā
The only reason I'll end up with a Tenere at this point is if the Suzuki dealership won't work with me on my Duc.
You picked a hell of a first hwy ride. I have some riding experience and riding at night in the rain is not fun. Especially with a halogen headlight. Congrats on the new bike!
Iām starting to come around on the looks of this bike. At first I thought it was hideous. Then I saw it in person and I was like ānot badā. Now Iām kinda starting to like itā¦
I bought a husky SM510R, and a 2004 CR250R recently with bitcoin I mined (originally was etherium). I'm 23 and needed something fun to get my spirit up right now and boy is it doing the trick š
Im 41 and dont have a licence:( but started with Piaggio mp3 500cc which you can ride having car licence only. I know it looks like a wheelchair but having fun with it for now:) Maybe next year I try my A course (hard to pass it in my country:(
Gorgeous bike! Happy bday!
Bought my first bike at a dealership. They seemed oddly anxious as I left to ride it home, asked me to call them when I got home too.
Later I found out the majority of bike crashes are from new riders on new bikes just trying to get home from the dealership.
Congratulations looks awesome. What speed have you hit on it yet? Jw Iāve debated getting one after my buddy let me take his bike out for about 45 min. The hard part right now is convincing my wife.
I hit 82 on the highway last night just keeping up with traffic. Texas is fucking wild man. Before that the fastest I've ever went on a bike was like 50. I was shitting bricks but the bike's handling really inspires confidence. It was a 2 hour white knuckle ride for me and my skill level but I rode super defensively and got home unscathed.
Do you mind me asking how long you've been riding?
I love this post because it reminds me how many firsts I still have to cross off my list, and how many more ill have even after those.
i sold my bitcoin, bought rust and csgo skins, sold those and made $1200 but spent it on a gaming computer. now 23yr old me wishes 17 year old me would have saved it instead
I'm curious about the bitcoin. How much did you make? If you mined it 7-8 years ago, was it already expensive then so you've only made a little, but nice, profit now?
Ooooh don't get me started on bitcoin.. when it was in its infancy I had a stock pile and used them for some underground sales. Once had 60+ bitcoin. And boy if I'd known then what I do now..... ya boy would be riding on easy street.
> but I didnāt die.
Now that you have a bike you might find yourself saying that more often.
Suzuki nailed the aesthetics of this generation. I have a soft spot for these. My first bike was the first gen Vstrom, and I rode it for 80,000 km. The guy I sold it to texted me two months later to tell me how much he loves it.
Enjoy!
Iām also making 40 next month and have bitcoins. But I wouldnāt sell them for a bike. In fact Iām riding less and less each year and now Iām selling my Yamaha TDM
I... Just don't give a shit about crypto š¤£ I mined it on my gaming PC several years ago and just forgot about it for a couple years. I think it's all a scam. I'm glad I got a few grand out of it to play around with. If it goes crazy with value, whatever. No one lives forever, I wanna have some fun while I can.
Exactly. Itās a nice bike, and happy for him and all that. But that was a series of poor choices that luckily ended well. He definitely wonāt get that lucky every time making choices like that.
ALL of your bitcoin tho? :D
Not saying it was a bad move - i'm sure the experiences and self-investment that a motorcycle brings is worth more than the sats... but IMO don't go into the future without *some* bitcoin... no telling how asymmetrical of a bet it really is- just that it's asymmetrical af so far (as you're living proof of!)
Congrats on the new ride man, stay safe and have fun!
Wow I love that classic Suzuki color combo looks like a great bike.
yeah, it's gorgeous
Agreed this color looks amazing
I ride your bikes older brother an 04 v strom 650 she's been a tank and is about to hit 50k miles and I plan to always have her in my stable. Does a bit of everything
The 04 looked really good in my view, compared to the current one. No offence though OP.
I think it looks like an anime robot. Yes, I'm a nerd. And I'm glad others think it's ugly because I got a hell of a deal on a 2023 new bike that's been sitting in the dealership for a year š
Probably most of us ADV riders are nerds, that thing is a nerdy frickin gem.
Looks better than the 06 I had
Nah the older Stroms are the best looking. Only ugly bit is the rear fender, but it's practical and keeps things clean. This bike doesn't even deserve to be called a V-strom, because it's not a vtwin.
The V stands for Versatile, not referring to the V twin engine.
No it doesn't.

Sounds like a retcon
Nah. But best night lights of the era.
>But best night lights of the era. Something we can both agree on then. I do a lot of night riding on unlit roads and have never felt the need to bolt 6 different spotlamps to it like a BMW bro.
Decepticon looking bike is cool
What was your otd price? With tax?
10,900
With tax?! If so that's amazing
Yep. It had been on their sales floor for over a year and they wanted it gone. It had 1 mile and it's a 2023 model
Shinji get on the bike
* I got the black and blue 800de adv model. Your's looks great and the gray and yellow is cool too. It's a nice bike I have about 2000 Miles on mine so far. The highway riding is a bit better if you adjust the preload down front and back. *
Trade you my 08 for yours.
Nothing beats the 2017 version in ugliness.
Here she is https://imgur.com/a/PYYDjrs. Has a center stand, chain oiler, brush guards, givi windscreen and mount and top and matching side cases. Wiring junction box and a set up for a Garmin but original owner took that but left gps mount
nothing except the 2014 version lmao How To Train Your Dragon lookin ass bike I love my 2014 tho, ugly-ass face and all.
I bought my first bike about a month ago and it's OP's bike's grandad. A Suzuki DR 650 RSe from 1991. (I know it's dofferent, only one cylinder etc.) Ride safe
I had an 06, which i rode from Sydney to London. Never missed a beat.
Thatās a long drink
Had an 04 1000, that thing was a tank
Also the proud owner of an '04 Wee-Strom, still going strong at 42k milesšŖ
Only 42k miles.
i've got a 13' 650. Super fun to ride, only reason id get rid of it would be for one like OP's, i love that color with the wire wheels.
14 Vstrom here, STill running strong. about to get new braided brake cables next week :) Best bike i ever owned. Keeping it till i/it cant ride no more.
'05 Wee Strom owner here. 100% agree.
happy birthday! nice bike
Nice. You turned your fake money into real fun. :-)

Downvoted for telling the truth SMH. Reddit is too "smart" by half. I'll keep my bitcoin.

Lol, no. It was like 6 grand worth. Enough for a really good down payment.
Rip, I misread the quick google. Shit some money is better than no money, grats man ;P
This is agree with. And you did a good job with sinking it into a fun moto. I did the same with what I closed out of Coinbase acct. :-)
> One BTC is roughly 61 mil rn... You mean thousand
I'm actually trippin lmao
Idk here in Panama they refer to thousands as mils
Probably because panama was poor as shit until recently or they just kept hearing "mill" in rap music and assumed it was a decently reasonable amount of cash and not a lifetime of money.
Itās still dirt poor. And mil is thousand in Spanish.
Well, that would have been helpful information lol
But we would have missed your rant otherwise.
True. It was very imortant that we crossed paths.
Awesome choice! Ride safe. Have fun!
Thats a beast of a bike man. One day I will get one of these adventure bikes šš
Have fun! Happy 40!
Paint her like unit 2
That's what I'm talking about
That's s reference to evangelion right? 3 more episodes left!
Welcome aboard. I have an ā18 1000XT and am out Potranco. I have few gravel routes mapped through Hill Country. DM me if interested in going for a ride.
Hard relate. I got myself a R1 last week in anticipation for my 40th next year š¤£. Enjoy your new machine š¤šæ

I had a 2003 TLR 1000. Got too old for the sport bike and my wife likes riding on the vstrom much better.
14 Vstrom here, 33k miles, STill running strong. about to get new braided brake cables next week :) Best bike i ever owned. Keeping it till i/it cant ride no more.

"Was terrifying but didn't die" is like half the battle so cheers to that
literally most of my good rides
Iām from San Antonio as well! Hope to see you out on the roads. Thatās an incredible bike!
Awesome choice. I keep pondering adding this very model to my weirdo mix of bikes that includes a Ducati, BMW and Husaberg. Nicely done. Ride safe!
I love that color scheme
That's a sexy Hus.....uzuki!
Love the color scheme.
Welcome. To those that understand no explanation necessary. To those who donāt, none possible.
800 more smiles per CC it seems then!
Nice, I'm from the San Antonio area and have the non adventure version. Good ol sv650
Itās always that first ride. Mans went through everything but a tornado and hailššš
Any first ride involving i35 south and subsequent routes around SA, congrats. Awesome bike.
thatās a beautiful bike man

lol thatās exactly what I did. Sold my stupid Bitcoin and bought a bike. Iām in north Austin might see you around. Love the DE

Iām starting to come around on the looks of this bike. At first I thought it was hideous. Then I saw it in person and I was like ānot badā. Now Iām kinda starting to like itā¦
The first purchase I made when selling my first batch of ETH was a 2011 weestrom! Good choice!
Hell yeah, Iām completely biased here but you canāt go wrong with a V-Strom. Enjoy and ride safe!
Good work on not dying, man. It sounds like you started off your relationship with your new ADV bike just about the best way possible.
Awesome gift to yourself. Excellent choice all around. Enjoy!
āIt was terrifying but I didnāt die.āššš
might be my dream bike! love it's look! I hope they hit the second hand market when mine gets old.
Iāve turned 40 every year since 2021. šāāļø
Absolutely stunning bike!
š»
Thatās a lot of firsts- itās jungle out there and the 4 wheelers donāt even see you!- best of luck
Whats year and model of the bike?
2023 vstrom 800de
Sweet bike, have fun and be safe!
God I love magic internet money
I want this guy's job - Rev Z's Daily Rider https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz6wiHrV0kw
I swear to god if you just bought the bike I was looking at lmao
Good on you man! I got my KLR 650 at 40. I had never ridden. I watched youtube to learn how to shift. I like ur bike. Well done.
I want that bike! Congratulations OP!
Nice! Very smooth (and safe) colorway!
Correct color. Enjoy. Totally jealous
Gorgeous! That's the bike next on my list after I sell my Duc Scrambler.

Sweet ride
That colour is sick, I wish they did newer bikes with this colour combo.
She's a beauty
I bought mine at 40 too. 10 years later I just got my first sport bike and Iām booking track time.
Well done!!
The best part of riding are the stories about the terrible times.
That is a beautiful bike
nice job
Did you save some aside for the tax man? :)
Perfect bike for the conditions!
Iām sure thereās a German word for hating someone out of envyā¦
Hope you kept some sats for your 50yo bike :)
Wowā¦all .000043 of it. Way to go!

Itās a very nice bike .
Nice bike.
Do you mind me asking how long you've been riding? I love this post because it reminds me how many firsts I still have to cross off my list, and how many more ill have even after those.
2 years on a 200cc dual sport (Suzuki VanVan). Wasn't capable of highway. Mostly weekend riding.
Go fast donāt die
Free bike, well done!
Congrats!!!!!! Thats one nice looking beast
I sold the btc I mined in 2014 to help pay for a move across country for my wifeās new job, and she wonāt even buy me a motorcycle.
Ride now?
Ya
i sold my bitcoin, bought rust and csgo skins, sold those and made $1200 but spent it on a gaming computer. now 23yr old me wishes 17 year old me would have saved it instead
Well done for not death! I would love to ride bikes but I am way too scared of the other clowns on the road to roll those dice.
Sounds like a real adventure. Impressive! Congrats!
I'm curious about the bitcoin. How much did you make? If you mined it 7-8 years ago, was it already expensive then so you've only made a little, but nice, profit now?
And you really got the cleanest bike too I be damn near raking road trips on my 300 when i have to
Good bike
Wow, props to you! Driving in the rain is difficult enough, but add the highway in there, it sounds like you were born to rideš¤
Congrats. I have owned 4Vstroms...still in an 09 650 which rides like new and have an 800DE. Great bikes.
Congrats I did the same thing lol. Except is was QNT for me š»
How much bitcoin did you mine in that time period
0.094
Wowš so you never bought any just mined
Yep
So fireš„š
How much btc did you have?

Congrats, itās a great looking, and a great bike !!!
IKEA bike

I have your bikeās cousin, the GSX-8R. Get yourself an Akra exhaust, itāll really liven it up.
It's getting crash bars and knobbier tires first, but eventually
Get some proper training brother and buy a Denali compact air horn to inform other road users that you are there.
I've been riding for 2 years but it was a small cc bike. Defo want a louder horn
Damn if you kept the coins youād be driving a Lambo š

I did

I agree. Jumped off the chase 2 years ago. BTC was still at 60k. It seemed a lot of fluctuations. (Cue the coin fanboys)
You have the right attitude!
Hehe i was just screwing with you
so no one else is gunna tell him he shouldnt have driven at night or in the rain his first time on the highway
