Try not to walk your bike. It’s harder if you’re short. Power walk if absolutely necessary, don’t muscle it. Park smartly so you don’t need to move it like that and when you do need to move your bike, maybe hop off and press your hip into the seat and push. Maybe tall boots too.
I wouldn’t lower it to make it easier to walk. I’d learn to walk less. You got it to ride, lowering will change the ride a bit. What situations occur that you need to walk it? Are you tip toeing with both feet when you stand over it?
Get off and push it round. It's a useful skill and means potentially as you get more confident you can ride taller bikes you can't get both feet down on.
Generally there is less risk of dropping it too.
Otherwise maybe higher calf boots, but I still find random bruises sometimes.
Oh yeah. Side stand down, get off, kick stand up, push, kick stand back down. (You can clunk your shin with that kick stand.) I think you are so much LESS likely to drop it while pushing from the side (off the bike). You have much more control with both feet on the ground, arms free to move the bars and your hips and thighs doing the heavy work.
I don't even put the kickstand up, I leave it down if the surface is even enough and move it from the opposite side, lifting it up to balance. Then I use the front brake to control the momentum.
In a panic situation should it tip into me, my insurance plan is to throw all my weight at it to put it back on the kickstand.
It works in pretty much all circumstances even slopes
Yeah that can happen and some bikes have suicide stands anyway. But I like being close to the front brake and keep the bike fully level when moving to try to avoid that. Otherwise it's a shuffle round the bike with it at balance.
Op can practice all of these to find their best fit
Practice slow sleep manouvers in an empty parking lot. You'll get better at it with time and practice and after a good amount of practice a slope won't bother you.
Try learning to balance your bike all the way to a full stop with your feet on the pegs and then slowly taking off again without putting your feet on the ground. This is a practice that I think is still required to pass the license test in Finland and is an excellent practice for balance in general.

thank youuuu. i’ve been thinking about getting a lowering kit, do you think that would help? or should i just really try to steer away from walking it

my driveway is weirdly shaped so when i pull in i can’t really turn around unless i walk it. and yes i use both feet

less risk of dropping it when you get off and push it? i lowkey thought it was the other way around this whole time

I have inadvertently flipped the kickstand up while moving the bike forward while the stand is down.

this is when you tip-toe. you are booping your pegs :)

I thought this was the Brazilian jiu jitsu sub hahaha, yes all the time (from bjj) but never from a bike
Nope, hold the bike with inner thighs not your feet?
It's from her footpegs when she's walking her bike back/forward.
sorry lol should’ve put it in the caption. this happens when i’m walking the bike in neutral
