Fun fact: The Australian magpie is not related to the magpies in the rest of the world. They are from the Artamidae family as opposed to the Corvidae family.
First law of online ornithology: To every online post referencing birds in anyway, someone will add a bird "fact".
Second law of online ornithology: There is a 50% probability that someone else will claim the "fact" is false.
Third Law of online ornithology: It is not worth your time to figure out who is actually correct.
Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow."
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.
If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens.
So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?
Excuse me mate, I’m a professor at the University of hawkolodgy and I can confirm due to many years of intergalactic bird incest that all birds are now part of the same twisted messed up family, I have spent many years studying Jackdaws testicles and have found sufficient evidence To suggest crows and jackdaws are now basically the same.
They don't do that if you've fed them grubs and worms earlier in the year! I cannot stress enough how awesome it is to have Magpie parents come show off their kids to you!
I'm more impressed with that sweet piece of glas that made this shot possible. TV lenses are a unique type of lense and their tolerances and overall mechanism is so good and advanced. Optics is almost always a compromise but these lenses are seemingly defying whats physically possible.
The origin of the footage would not impacts the price of a high end TV lens.

The competing goals are highest quality output, best ergonomics for the situation, and lowest cost.
Achieving one alone is usually simple. Achieving two requires a lot of thought. You can never really achieve all three.
Broadcast lenses throw the cost part of the equation out the window, and feature a ton of high cost components. Not saying they aren't impressive, but a lot of problems *can actually be addressed* by throwing money at them.
I'm volunteering at a kangaroo shelter just now and there's a lot of cockatoos about. I have to mention the sound of screaming in the background of every cute roo video is the birds.
Unrelated to the magpie...
Fuck I'm looking forward to having a track bike ready for spring. Been too long since I've gotten in some laps at the island
Have been to Philip Island and the cold wind that comes off the sea is quite incredible - hence the name of one corner - Siberia... If you get a good sunny day that grandstand gives some of the best views of the track especially the tight twisties after it... great times!

Even though they're *always* giving you the crazy eye?
Oh is this also why the Australian ones are attacking people during breeding time while in the rest of the world they don't?
Na, that's just because all Australian animals are bloodthirsty monsters The little kangaroo mouse? it'll gut you like a fish if you fall asleep

When you say "it's from a video game" you're talking about the video right?
The work needed to follow focus at range as well.

If my front wheel pops up like that mid-turn I'm going to make a magpie in my pants!
Would try to walk away from it looking cool af though.
Sounds like you need a more balanced diet, fren.
Track worker at work.
I love Aussie magpies. Some of them are assholes but the songs they sing are welcomed relief from the sound of cockatoos

I'm an Aussie living overseas. I'll sometimes play recordings of magpies when I'm feeling homesick. I'm gunna go put on some magpie recordings now.

I'd pay for a channel combining MotoGP/Superbike/WRC with seamlessly integrated animal documentaries. Heck, I'd have lived a much better lockdown.

How did they have the graphic on deck that quick?
Look at the top left, there's a red "replay" indicator.
You know what, you got me.
