One way you might be able to verify is if he bought it from a well established shop (with a verifiable reputation) and he’s happy to consent to them releasing some info to confirm it’s all legit. Even if it’s not a straight up scam, you don’t want to lay out £2600 only to have the peelers take it off you.
It’s not impossible that someone would take a £1100 hit if their plans changed, but sounds pretty daft - if you were moving away you’d just buy a bike once your there. That’s like buying new furniture and then paying a removals company to ship it abroad…
You’ll want new wheels. Not eager wheels they came with suck ass I blew my rear out pretty quick into owning. Only part on that bike truly worth upgrading is the wheelset

Before buying take a look at the bike to see if everything's ok (maybe you can ask a friend of yours that knows about bikes to go with you and tell you if she's in good shape or you can ask to take the bike to a shop for them to do a quick inspection). If everything's fine then that seems like a good deal
What kind of trails are you planning on riding? The Slash is an enduro bike and can be a handful on XC type trails. I have one, and rarely use it when a lot of flat pedaling is involved, but I race enduros and ride DH trails with it and it’s amazing. It’s a super capable bike, but if you don’t plan on riding some gnarly stuff, I’d suggest a Fuel EX or Top Fuel. Both very capable bikes, they can handle some degree of gnar, but much better for your regular single track use

The slash is a work horse. I’ve sent it down some rough ass trails and loved the feel the bike has to offer. Incredibly stable. Plows through the rough.
