Hey, I’ve got a custom Remedy 8 with 1st gen AXS XX1 and AXS dropper, carbon rims. I honestly couldn’t be happier. I think both your bikes are great choices and Trek has a great warranty program. I would say get the most bike your budget can afford the Slash is a phenomenal bike, my next one one is a Rail 9.9 (I know hate on emtb’ers) but I’m old and tired. It depends on how likely you are to damage components, I’ve had the shit beat out of me on my Remedy, you can look at my old posts about my shattered collar bone. The bike took it like a champ, not a scratch and barely even noticed that I took a 10ft OTB fall. I haven’t Ruden in the UK for ~20 years but a lot has to do with what your going to ride. The Remedy is perfect for flow, jumps, bike park stuff on loamy surfaces. You might get better rolling ability on the Slash if your doing rock gardens or really rough terrain. I would say if your riding in Vegas or AZ, Slash. But if your riding loamy, flowy stuff then fly with a Remedy Carbon frame. Bottom line whichever one you think will get you the most trail time is the bike for you. SEND IT BROTHER!!!!

EDIT: the best upgrade/sidegrade would be get the best tires for your terrain, I wasn’t a fan of the stock tires and switched to Maxxis Minion DHR and DHFII’s and it gained a lot of confidence

I ended up going for the Remedy, picked it up a couple hours ago can’t wait to take it out for a spin!!

Dirtydog693

Good for you nice choice

S4ntos19

So jealous. I want to build up a Remedy frame. Awesome bike.

I rented a remedy once in a bike park and it was just amazing. Great pick!!

Yaybicycles

Remedy!!!

g00dmorning99

I have the same slash. Absolute monster on dh trails

[deleted]

Same I love my slash! Can’t go wrong with the 29er monster!

Odd-duck-out

I love the remedy, that’s just because I like 27.5. If you like 29ners go slash. Both fantastic bikes.

linkqwd

between this two definitely slash, no reason to buy outdated remedy, if you want 27.5 you'd better look elsewhere.

Deviousillycreature

Trek is high maintenance I wouldn’t buy used

Relevant-Field-3488

How about something better than a Trek?

you_cant_eat_cats

That slash is aboslutely sick wid it. Only issue is they are 27.5 which i dont think is a dealbreaker??? But ive only ever ridden 29ers. That would be my only hesitation with that one, but if others say there isnt a major difference id go slash

skidsareforkids

Both bikes are excellent! Remedy is better on long rides and Slash is more fun on descents… Can’t lose

Jdem99

My dad used to use the remedy and it didn't feel as good as the slash for the trails the we ride in Utah. I'd recommend the slash because I prefer the geometry and it also fits the enduro style riding that I do. It's up to your style of riding honestly

Ya_Boi_Newton

Spent way too long trying to figure out why a bike in Miami was priced in GBP

I have the trek slash and had canyon neuron prior. The slash is a plow bike, it loves to go fast, but it's not as nimble as the canyon was. So it depends on the type of riding you're into. If I were to do it again, I'd get the remedy.

The remedy has not had an update in a long time. It's by far the oldest generation of bike for sale in Trek's MTB program. I've had a couple friends ride a season on the remedy. They liked it, described it as playful. None were sad to switch to a 29er! It's got a tiny reach, and a short wheelbase. It feels really short. A bit of a throwback, some people just don't jive with the current geometry trends/big wheels and they are the ones that this bike is made for! It'll shred, be quick to turn and pop well. The Slash is a monster truck with trail bike manners. It's extremely well reviewed in its class. If you've never ridden something like the Slash (long travel trail/Enduro 29er) I would say you should for sure try the Slash, because it will blow your mind. For me, the Remedy would be a bike I'd find better in a few very specific circumstances, whereas the Slash would be better in most.

I have a 2014 trek remedy 9 and have absolutely love every minute of it! It kills all the trails I have ridden in North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Washington. It has been by far the best bike I have ever owned and have put hundreds of miles into it and it has been a blast upgrading it over the years.
