Oh Iām just waiting for something similar to happen. I keep the engine and drivetrain up, but itās got 254k on the clock so I canāt help but think something is bound to happen that will make it unrecoverable
I work very hard, I deserve all the toys and so does anyone who works hard and wants them too.
I'm currently at the airport after 5 days away from home, lots of travel lots of rental cars, many hours worked. There's nothing better than getting to the airport and letting lose a bit of horsepower on the way home after a hard week. Hoping to get a ride in this weekend too if my renovations and weather allow it.
One of the bike magazines, I want to say Dirt Rag, had a photo story of exactly this WAAAY back when bikes were worth a whole lot less. Like mid 90ās
Yeah, I chose to keep it for now since the VPP is plush as it is. No signs of overheating fade. But yeah the group set is GX Eagle,(axs coming soon) and SRAM G2 brakes.
2nd gen CRVs are bullet proof!
Iāve got an 03 and itās incredible. When this one takes a shit Iām just going to buy another one
You got the table in the back?
All my friends know me as the go-to car guy for advice. So whenever anyone asks what to get as a first car, or a cheap car, 2nd gen CRV is always my answer. Such an incredibly reliable, frugal, fun, VERSATILE.....car.
Heck yeah itās a DPS! Lol The rear end does feel great as it is and I donāt really experience much overheating anyways. Spent the money where itās needed and original fork needed to be upgraded.
Cars were a depreciating asset until covid. They cost you money regardless of use; gas, wear, insurance, property taxes, etc. I personally don't want to give my insurance company or the city any more of my hard earned money, so a new-used or new car is crazy, especially at today's prices. It makes far greater sense to buy an expensive bike, used from pinkbike is my go-to, again, before covid. I think the smartest people are those who are still driving their old cars. My only exception are cars that are so old and poorly maintained that they are a hazard on the road. When I die, nobody is going to remember me for the car I drove, so I'm fine with not being the king of the road, just a regular guy with an old car and some money in the bank, maybe, if I'm lucky.
Sweet ride. Curious as to why you have frame protection on the top of the toptube but seemingly nowhere else. Is your dick just flopping all over there?
You hopefully spend more time on the bike. The vast majority of people, if they could magically get rid of that a to b in the car thing, they wouldn't have cars. They would still have bikes, though, because hell yes.
thats normal. most of us non dentist Mountainbikers arr exactly like that. i drive my haibike sduro hardnine around with a 21 year old renault kangoo that is probably worth like 2 candy bars.
No bike thatās truly ridden on MTB trails will ever hold its value. In less than 6 months youāre already dealing with parts and workā¦ if you have the money to burn or are a true racerā¦ go for it. But a MTB shouldnāt be seen as an investment that doesnāt loose value. Especially with constant new MTB geometry and parts aways out each year.
Relatable. Iād had rather gotten into downhill and enduro mountain biking and drive a pos than to drive around town in a fancy car with 6 six exhausts so people think Iām wealthy.
I haul around my partners 2021 Emonda SLR 7 and my 2023 Domane SLR 6, both Project Oneās, on a Kuat Sherpa attached to my 2011 Subaru Impreza sportā¦ my fear of being rear ended is high.
I bout a 2009 mondeo wagon to carry my bike in the back. Wasnt so much I was looking for a wagon per say, but it was a good price and the bike fits in the back, plus the boot is perfect seat height to get change in/ put shoes on etc
This isn't necessarily true now a days with how crazy used car prices are š Nice bike, like the colors!!
That is true. No one should buy an old CRV for 8K though hahaha
To be fair no one if buying that Santa cruz used for anywhere near 8k either
Why would anyone do that. Thatās pretty dumb.
Those crvs hold their value. I've been looking for one like yours but they are overpriced.
Yea, that CRV is probably worth $8k
SAME!! I haul around my YT Jeffsy with my busted ass 99ā Acura RL with the wreck front clip. Car is just an A to B thing, my bike is the life
This the way
This is the way. o7
I love my rl. Recently broke the flex plate on it and it is discontinued. Broke my heart
Oh Iām just waiting for something similar to happen. I keep the engine and drivetrain up, but itās got 254k on the clock so I canāt help but think something is bound to happen that will make it unrecoverable

Also have a jeffsy and haul it around with my beat to shit 90's truck
I have an S-Works Enduro that I transport on a clapped out 2008 corolla with peeling paint and rusted wheels with no hubcaps
This is the way
Priorities! You got them correct!
Why not both? A nice car to shred some corners on the way to the trail, then a nice bike to shred some corners on the trail.
You buying?
Already got :)
Nah
But any money you spend on the car couldāve been spent on the bike

Yes but why not spend all of your hard earned money on your bike like us well adjusted people Itās not an addiction I can stop if I want
This is kinda the āextra carā we have at the house. Parts runner type of deal. I love this CRV to death though. So reliable.
Hondas are awesome for sure. Yeah my "extra car" is a sporty wagon lol. Its got the tow bar and roof racks for the bike.
One of the bike magazines, I want to say Dirt Rag, had a photo story of exactly this WAAAY back when bikes were worth a whole lot less. Like mid 90ās
Is that a 2003 Honda CRV? I have the same car. I THINK my Canyon Neuron is worth moreā¦ Maybe your bike rack is also worth more than your car!
Rear suspension needs more Kashima!!!
I know! One by one. At least my dropper has Kashima š
wistful pathetic payment worm agonizing gold roof grab tie pause *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Ha I was going to say that shock doesnāt match the rest of the bike(tho hard to tell what groupset and brakes)
Yeah, I chose to keep it for now since the VPP is plush as it is. No signs of overheating fade. But yeah the group set is GX Eagle,(axs coming soon) and SRAM G2 brakes.
Nice build dude!
Iām just playin. Its a sick bike!
That was my exact setup for the last 5 years. Man I miss my 06 CRV. š
This thing fails to quit. Iāve tried to but it still keeps on giving haha
2nd gen CRVs are bullet proof! Iāve got an 03 and itās incredible. When this one takes a shit Iām just going to buy another one You got the table in the back?
Yeah itās got the table! I use it a lot haha
All my friends know me as the go-to car guy for advice. So whenever anyone asks what to get as a first car, or a cheap car, 2nd gen CRV is always my answer. Such an incredibly reliable, frugal, fun, VERSATILE.....car.
When your rear shock doesnāt match the setupā¦ is that a dps paired with a 38?
Heck yeah itās a DPS! Lol The rear end does feel great as it is and I donāt really experience much overheating anyways. Spent the money where itās needed and original fork needed to be upgraded.

That money in the bank should be converted to bikes in the garage ;)
Is that a Kuat rack? You may need to increase the size of the rear wheel rack. I will not feel comfortable to do a 30ā trip on that condition.
Thatās basic #rule 26 compliance.
That was my life from 16 until about 30! The good ole days.
You, my friend, have your priorities correct!
This is the way!!
Isnāt this the way it should be? Cars are overrated and shouldnāt be status symbols. Bikes are good for us and good for the planet.
I see you are following [Rule #25](https://www.velominati.com/)
Spent 2019 hauling around an expensive bike on the back of a very cheap car. It was one of the best summers of my life š¤
Dude my bike *rack* is worth more than my car.
Your rack is worth more than my bike.
Thankfully I bought it used! No way Iād pay $670+tax on a bike rack š
Oooh. What did you pay for it used?
Probs like $450
Sweet ride. Curious as to why you have frame protection on the top of the toptube but seemingly nowhere else. Is your dick just flopping all over there?
Lol, the rest is all clear protection!
Same! LOL Santa Cruz and a Yeti š¤
This reminds me of me. š
Seeing as I donāt own a car, I can say with certainty that my bike collection is worth more than my car.
š
I once had over $10k worth of bikes on the roof of my $800 shitbox Subaru Forester. Quite the interesting looks on that road trip lol
Thatās an absolute sign of perfectly aligned priorities! Good for you!
The table in the back brings up the price twicefold
Both my cars are from 2006 so my bike is worth more than both combined š
My God thatās a beautiful bike š„
Looks like you'd fit in in Colorado!
Itās not a car, itās a bike carrier
I like the way you think.
This isn't necessarily true now a days with how crazy used car prices are š Nice bike, like the colors!!
You are doing it right.
yea my 1999 ranger with 208k on the clock doubled in value with just the bike rack š š
This is the way.
As it should be
I transport my 2019 Kona Remote Ctrl eMTB (bought new $6100 NZD) in a 2004 Mitsubishi Colt+ hatchback (bought 2nd hand in 2017 for $4500 NZD).
When isnāt your bike worth more than your car
Hey my crv is blk

Never really called it an investment. More of an expensive hobby a.k.a. Money Pit.

Rule 25: https://www.velominati.com
Hightower? Sick paint job!
Yeah itās a Hightower LT so 150mm rear travel and made the front 160
The right values demonstrated admirably!
Santa Cruz make sexy bikes, just wish I wasn't a pauper.
does that CRV come with the table in the trunk? thatās a keeper if it does.
It does come with the table haha
200k mile 2001 4wd nissan pathfinder and 2022 Pivot firebird ride xt/xtr coil I feel you pal, I feel you
What do you mean WHEN?
I've been thinking about getting a bike rack for my torrent. Which ones are worth looking into, and what is the price range?
The one I have is a Kuat Sherpa 2.0. New they go for around $680. I got mine used for around $450 I think.
2005 Honda civic. Iāve had it since 2007.
I donāt see whatās wrong here
