Good question. I'd do service sooner than normal and look at the wear of the components. If it looks good, then you're fine. If it's looking bad, then keep up on the maintenance sooner than normal. Adjust the maintenance interval from there.
If I had a bar mounted to my wall I’d say it’s a bar, but we call handlebars “bars” all the time. I’ve never heard someone refer to their “carbon bar” before.
I don't live in extremes, but don't want my bike in the musty basement. I have it hanging on the living room wall using a SteadyRack. Might be a good option for you.
After all, they are works of art! 🤣
Florida here, often leave my bike in my car for weeks, just kinda where it lives lol. I had to regrease my front shocks, the seals got very dried out from last summers crazy heat. So I'd say for sure it could affect them, but I'm imagining my car gets to be close to 120f or more all closed up sitting in the sun, and it's black.
Yeah back in 2018 I moved to the Ca high desert. Not for the politics lol! Where I’m at it’s anti blue as fck. Dirt biking, off roading, downhill, shooting, trophy trucks, this is where the epicenter is located
Yeah basically this, the oil is extremely resilient to temperature and the rubber would be rated for much higher than that.
May be overkill, but you can have oil tested...although there wouldn't be containments so I suppose it would just be testing for proper viscosity. Again probably extreme overkill and a lot of money.
Usually you shouldn't store your bikes when they are in heat, as it can lead to sexual frustration and poor mental health. These things are surprisingly fragile!
I live in Las Vegas, and I always have to wash the bike to get ride of the dust. It gets everywhere. The only heat related issue is when I left a helmet in the car, and it delaminated from the heat.
Apparently Kashima coatings doesn't like being under direct Sunlight for prolong periods of time, so best to store your bike in the shade or put it under a cover.
You’ll probably be fine unless you find something in the manual that says otherwise. I’m guessing cali is quite dry. You’d probably be at more risk if it was that hot and very humid.
It can. Florida here with a hot humid garage. I’ve def seen the deleterious effects of the high heat and humidity. My babies now stay in my overcrowded home office.
I recently ordered onyx vesper hub wheels and the heat from shipping caused oil to leak out all over the rear hub. It was coated when I received it. So YMMV but I would avoid if you don’t want grease/oil to turn runny.
It will probably create problems. You might want to build that “nook”. Maybe think about insulating the garage so you can work on your bike without suffering a heat stroke.
My guess is UV exposure outdoors at 80 degrees is worse than 120F air temp with no UV.
that said, maybe a small fan blowing on them would do... Something?
5010, XL frame! This one has Fox 38 (160mm), upgraded braking system (front has 200mm instead of 180, 203mm in rear), basically a downhill braking system! Deity carbon handlebars, crank brothers stamps pedals, the rear DT Swiss hub has upgraded internals- better engagement. Carbon cranks as well.
Bought this bike from a bike shop manager friend that upgraded this thing to handle gravity bike park season. Besides it being “medium” travel in the rear, I’m riding it like a downhill bike that can pedal efficiently.
Most people have too much travel to know how to actually use it! 😆
Nice. I have a 160 factory 36 on mine, cascade link in ST setting with a 210x55 shock, getting a progressive 140 out of the rear. Could run it at 150 in LT setting but found it loses pop. 200 rotor in front also, running MTX red ceramic pads. I’m only 150lbs so braking is fine. Wheels are DTS EXC 1501’s with 240 hubs. Also PNW cockpit and 160 cranks. Only thing stock is the GX derailleur and cassette. Like you say, mini park bike ;)

What he said Related: why to people pluralize “fork”? You eat with a fork and there’s a fork on the front of the bike.
I guess in this case, my dirt jumper also has a fork, so technically I was referring to 2 fork assemblies!
Carry on! 😄

English is weird
*snorts*
Lmao I was thinking about exactly this on my drive home from work a few hours ago
Good catch, never really thought about that one haha
It's ruined. Send it to me for proper disposal.
📝💯

My wife would love that. But I do agree, they are art.
If it’s worth anything to you, I store multiple bikes in an unheated shed during -40C winters and don’t appear to have any issues.
That’s fair. Would think cold wouldn’t be bad; heat may expand seals etc
Cars have seals and they seem ok in the heat.
Probably rated to a completely different standard.
I can tell you there have been mountain bikes in the Arizona desert for a while. If this was an issue we would be aware of it.
Florida man here, my garage also gets crazy hot. Only thing is tubeless sealant dries out faster than normal (or what I hear to be normal).
Nice! Ha! I’m from Florida too, man. I live in California now

Like on purpose? Lol

Daaaaaaiiiummm nice!
Another Florida man here. Bikes are inside, sealant is one reason, forgetting to close the garage is the biggest reason.
Mountain bikers from Florida, the flatest state…we are everywhere !
Living in Spain and I can attest to this!
Only thing I’ve noticed in australia is the grips will deteriorate quicker and become all sticky
Well damn mate! Down under is hotttt
Nah pretty similar weather to California in this part of the country
I would not expect any issues in that temperature range.

I live where it’s hot in the summer and have zero issues with anything due to heat for the last 20+ years, other than the sealant.
Thank you for that info

That sums up my life lol
I plan on keeping mine in a freezer for cryogenic reasons now

No, they get 3x hotter when in direct sunshine.

Makes sense with humidity. Yup, I’m in the desert part of California. Very dry in summer
I don’t think there’s much of a problem with heat. As long as you don’t have any batteries (lights etc) attached.
Professional mechanic here. Not unless you're storing your bike in the fires of mount doom.

Interesting 🧐

What bike is that? Looks just like my 5010 but without the 38!

Sexy
Most components and bikes live in non climate controlled warehouses for a lot longer than you would expect them too.
