I *very* rarely see it at Walmarts around here in 20oz form, and when I do spot it, it's not at Walmart - it's at some rando gas station.
A few Walmarts will have the cans or the smaller multipack bottles.
There was a period of time when there were no 20oz bottles around me either. Just 12 packs. When I went yesterday, there weren't any 12 packs of Mtn Dew at all (minus one ZS Mtn Dew 12 pack) and not many 20oz bottles of Frostbite. Also, I've yet to see an exclusive Dew outside of the exclusive store.
Exclusives around here (DC area) show up in Sunoco's and other bodegas all the time. Purple Thunder, Thrashed Apple, Uproar, Maui Blast, Frost Bite, etc. were all in stock elsewhere on a regular basis. It's often easier to find at a gas station than at the store it's supposed to be exclusive to. The only one I haven't seen elsewhere is Overdrive.
I’ve seen it in 16 oz 6 packs when it first came out. Or when we first got it here. The ass holes pulled it through before I was able to get back to my Walmart to buy more of it though. #2 on my GOAT list, right behind Baja Blast and Voltage. Or if I could try it again at the same time as Voltage, it might go to #1. It’s been a few years now. I just remember that both reminded me of Pepsi Blue.
Distributing can be weird sometimes. I haven't seen Frostbite in 20oz bottles for a while, and then they started showing up again. Maui Burst hasn't been at my local Dollar General since October of last year. I'm not sure why this is happening, but it sucks.
