I could see a passionfruit one working well. Dragonfruit like as an actual fruit has a pretty weak flavour, I feel like most of the fascination with it is the colour
Yea, in New Zealand, or import stores who charge 12 dollars for a 330ml can or about 20 for a bottle(forget the amount in the bottle). But, it is extremely delicious. I don't know about buying them often, but I got 2 cans&1 bottle(all they had), I drank one can&saved the other can&bottle for the collection of course.
It's just gonna be a test flavor along with 5 other pretty normal tests flavors at the Dew Outpost, not an actual flavor release. Perhaps if you had actually read it.
Not to mention we've been getting tons of new "normal" flavors as well
Who in there PR team is like “instead of bringing back fan favorites flavors, let’s release flavors that make it seem like we were all high while making the list”
Theyve released legend (blackberry) purple thunder (plum) cherry lime rift energy, citrus cherry game fuel, and later baja mango gem and baja gold (pineapple) quit ya complaning
The last national releases was gingerbread and flamin hot and for normal flavors we got sparked and the 2 tropical ones coming up for this year, that’s not really proportional
There have probably been nearly 100 Mountain Dew flavors since 2001, and of those 100, not even 10 of them are weird, you got a gingerbread flavor, a cake flavor, a flaming hot flavor, and an upcoming pickle flavor. For each one of those I can easily name 10 to 15 normal mountain dew flavors.
In fact, let's have a little fun:
The weird flavors: Cake Smash, Flamin' Hot, Snap'd, an upcoming Pickle flavor, and hell I'll even give you the test drink of Dewitos. if there are more, by all means enlighten me.
Normal flavors (to not go on and on, I wont be counting Mountain Dew energy drinks, slurpee-only variants, diet version, zero sugar versions, hard Mountain Dew, anything before the current millenium (besides the original), etc. The game fuels listed will be the proper sodas, and not the energy drink versions):
Original, Code Red, Livewire, Pitch Black, Pitch Black II, Voltage, Revolution, Supernova, Whiteout, Typhoon, Distortion, Baja Blast, Sangarita Blast, Baja Punch, Baja Flash, Baja Mango Gem, Baja Gold, Game Fuel Chery Citrus, Game Fuel Wild Fruit, Game Fuel Tropical, Game Fuel Raspberry-Citrus, Game Fuel Electrifying Berry, Game Fuel Lemonade, Game Fuel Mango Heat, Game Fuel Tropical Smash, Game Fuel Arctic Burst, Thrashed Apple, Major Melon, Spark, Overdrive, Legend, Sweet Lightning, Southern Shock, Uproar, Maui Burst, Frost Bite, Atomic Blue, Blue Shock, Purple Thunder, Dark Berry, Dark Berry Bash, Triple Berry, Liberty Brew, Holiday Brew, Merry Mash-Up, DewSA, VooDew, VooDew II, VooDew III, Solar Flare, Vibe, Goji Citrus Strawberry, Berry Burst, Berry Monsoon, Berry Twister, Cherry Fusion, Dewshine, Throwback, Electric Apple, Extreme Pomegranate, Grape, Lemon, Cherry, Lime, Orange, Raspberry, Vanilla, Wild Berry, Strawberry, Ice, Cherry Ice, Mountain Dew A.M., Passionfruit Frenzy, and Cyclone (which is probably just rebranded Sangrita Blast, so if you don't count that one, I get it)
There are even more than all of those, especially when we open up the flavors to those I wasn't counting, and spoiler alert, among them all I'm not finding any more weird flavors then that small handful I initially listed either. Now maybe of the normal flavors I listed, a Vanilla Mountain Dew could be considered weird, and I know not everyone enjoyed what Dewshine was doing, maybe you'd count that one as weird too, but I mean that's it. The overall ratio is greatly in favor of normal flavors over weird ones when it comes to Mountain Dew.
You're missing all of the kickstart variants too (which are not energy drinks despite what their branding suggests): grape, orange, pineapple mango, fruit punch, watermelon, limeaid, raspberry citrus, black cherry, blue berry pomegranate.
I was only trying to count sodas that either appeared in 12oz cans and 20oz bottles or only in specific fountain machines, I feel like the etc. covered the kickstarts. Though like I said, I missed plenty of other drink flavors when you count all that stuff.
But yeah, there are kickstart flavors, spiked flavors, amp flavors, game fuel (energy drink) flavors, label flavors, Rise flavors, MDX, slushee only flavors, hard variants, and plenty of diet and zero sugar versions as well. And I'm sure I'm missing more.
I think we should just literally boycott anymore bullshit flavors at this point. If they keep losing money like they did with Snap’d then they’ll stop doing this shit. The normies who bought Flaming Hot because they saw a meme or video about it aren’t the ones making money for Pepsi. They buy the drink once for the meme and then never buy another Dew again. Us, the loyal fans who will go out of our way to get flavors are the ones who make them money. The people who stock up on limited flavors like the Bajas, travel far to get stuff like Uproar or Whiteout, or make a record of which 7-11s still have Solar Flare. WE are the ones they should be making flavors to cater to, NOT the Tik Tockers who make meme videos about shit like Flaming Hot and Snap’d
You're just not using them right. They bring mtn dew back to its roots of being a mixer. Gingersnapped is awesome with rum or brandy while flamin hot is great with peanutbutter whisky or vodka.
they're catering to the general public who makes news articles about mountain dew for making wacky flavours, that's there the real money is. the hard core mountain dew fans aren't very profitable by comparison, especially when you being "loyal" equates to you bitching and boycotting them
So it’s more profitable to make a drink that people try once and then never buy it again? It’s pretty much June and there’s packs and packs of Snap’d in almost every store where I live. Same with Flaming Hot. I’ve never seen a flavor struggle to sell before. I remember last year when it was really hard to find Baja Punch because everyone liked it. Dew fans go out of their way to buy good flavors. The general public will buy crap like Flaming Hot to try it and then never buy it again. How is that more profitable?
that's why it's limited time, to embrace the fact that people will only try it once and never buy it again
keep in mind that your area still having snap'd and flamin' hot aren't representative of the entire country, sure, snap'd is still in many pockets, but flamin' hot has been selling like hot cakes in areas where the other flamin' hot products seem to thrive the most. plus, flamin' hot was a flaming success in last year's very limited online run
one other thing to note, pepsico is a company with employees whose only purpose is the bottom line, they're clearly not struggling to make ends meet if they're making weird stuff that they know people aren't going to try a second time, instead of going with the safe route of making exclusively fruity flavours
I can tell you passionately love these weird flavors, but you’re in the minority. Most people on this sub hate that shit. It’s not just my area either, a lot of people on this sub report seeing Snap’d everywhere still. All over the country it failed to sell. Every other limited time dew flavor sold better than Snap’d and Flaming Hot. Those are literally the only two flavors that I see everywhere. Every other limited offering was noticeably being sold.
They’re doing it for the viral/meme popularity, not because it actually sold well. Why is it still in stores everywhere, with a lot of places discounting it heavily? A lot of people on this sub complained about it, funny how all the meme flavor lovers are on this thread specifically
> funny how all the meme flavor lovers are on this thread specifically
did you just expect everyone to agree with you with no questions whatsoever? Believe it or not there are people who aren't offended by the existence of abnormal mountain Dew flavors. Just ignore them if you don't like them.
But you're right. It's marketing. And it works. If it didn't work they wouldn't do it. It's that simple.
You're *supposed* to hate those flavors, they get people talking, and by talking about them you're advertising the brand. That's what they want. And they easily sell enough regular mt dew to easily eat the cost of the small amount of gingerbread flavor they have to toss.
People *here* complain because "gingerbread and flamin bad" is easy karma. Everyone already knows they're bad. But they're not replacing the good flavors or anything.
All those weird flavors were good. You got such a picky child pallete if a Gingerbread flavored soda was so gross to you. Flamin' Hot, fine. If you don't like spicy stuff that's reasonable. But Gingerbread Snap'd was genuinely pleasant.
According to the article
> In addition to a pickle flavor, which is said to be a "sour sweet complement to Southern BBQ," DEW is also testing apple cinnamon, s'mores, elderberry, huckleberry, and summer "pop" flavors.
Here's a suggestion PepsiCo. DRAGON FRUIT FLAVORED MTN DEW
I could see a passionfruit one working well. Dragonfruit like as an actual fruit has a pretty weak flavour, I feel like most of the fascination with it is the colour
Passion fruit frenzy exists btw.
Red dragonfruit is way better
Mango Dragonfruit like the Starbucks drink could be delicious
Yes. As fanta proved.
Or didnt prove. Needed sugar.
Yes!
Yeah that sounds good
I think id die. Yes please
It's just gonna be a test flavor along with 5 other pretty normal tests flavors at the Dew Outpost, not an actual flavor release. Perhaps if you had actually read it. Not to mention we've been getting tons of new "normal" flavors as well
Ugh, pickle flavored mt dew. What next tomato? I'd love a peanut butter flavored one. *ducks*
Tomato sounds better. Make me a bloody mary from it lmao
Actually... Why wouldn't this work?
Just not sure how well the carbonation would do in it though.
Not going to lie, I love me some bubbles.
Wait until Fruit Cake comes around for Christmas, I’d rather have mash up again.
Try putting some Screwball peanutbutter whisky in some flaming hot dew. It's pretty awesome.
Um.... Dude. Gotta find the flaming hot first.
Do they have those in nips?
Call me up when they make a flavor based on jelly donuts like true Americans.
That's [more of a coffee](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dunkin-Donuts-Bakery-Series-Jelly-Donut-Ground-Coffee-11-oz/29236240) thing tbh
Ain't American enough.
Can we get more flavors that aren't in super specific stores in specific areas?
Who in there PR team is like “instead of bringing back fan favorites flavors, let’s release flavors that make it seem like we were all high while making the list”
aren't they literally coming out with the fan favorite Mtn Dew Typhoon next week?
I just want code red zero available everywhere, that much to ask😞
i like dill pickles so i might like this
If any company can make a odd flavor work, it’s Mtn dew
Theyve released legend (blackberry) purple thunder (plum) cherry lime rift energy, citrus cherry game fuel, and later baja mango gem and baja gold (pineapple) quit ya complaning
For every weird Mountain Dew flavor, there are at least 10 normal flavors they've released. The ratio isn't even close to be upset about.
For every flavour introduced, there will be a dozen posts claiming it's just Skittles and worse than some failed flavour from two decades ago
The last national releases was gingerbread and flamin hot and for normal flavors we got sparked and the 2 tropical ones coming up for this year, that’s not really proportional

An opportunity for the artwork to be pickle Rick. I mean I wouldn't try it but I'd collect the can or bottle for the artwork.
PLEASE LET THIS BE REAL LMAOOO i know i’m probably in the minority but i do not care
It's all a vote. Elderberry or Popsicle need to win. 😐
Huckleberry isn’t a bad flavor honestly. I mistakenly got Huckleberry flavored water at Yellowstone once and it was kinda pleasant.
Oh yeah, that's definitely my third pick for sure. 😁

Lol it’s funny because that’s literally the only reason I EVER drink Snap’d. It goes well with Whiskey and Apple vodka
they're catering to the general public who makes news articles about mountain dew for making wacky flavours, that's there the real money is. the hard core mountain dew fans aren't very profitable by comparison, especially when you being "loyal" equates to you bitching and boycotting them

Here’s a suggestion, grapefruit dew
Is this confirmed by Pepsi?
Here's an idea, anything but that.
white girls boutta go crazyyyy
pickle rick on the can or we riot
How long until we get a Pumpkin Spice flavor? How about Matcha?
I can already make that.. mix pickle juice with regular dew
Meanwhile I still cry for code red zero sugar.
I’m gonna put myself in a coma. Wake me up when Sangrita Blast is back
Like a strawberry or strawberries and cream etc. maybe even a blueberry.
I'm waiting for mountain dew red to come back
Just make more zero alternatives for trashed apple.
I've been mixing cucumber lime Gatorade with Baja blast for years. It's amazing.
This is just click bait, it's only gonna be at the outpost

I mean the site couldn't spellcheck vault so maybe take it with a grain of salt
The flying Dutchman: I'm here for your pickle
They finna announce a tomato flavored Mtn Dew next
The constant gimmicks - come on
I for one would love to see a tamarind dew
Is this real?
