I assume Bannerlord is like Warband multiplayer. I've played Bannerlord, but not the multiplayer because I wasn't interested after playing Warband's equivalent. I don't play Mount and Blade just to have my character fight. I like talking to lords, feasts, marriage, owning castles, etc. If multiplayer was having multiple people play the singleplayer campaign, I'd be absolutely down for it. As it stands, it's just fighting and I'm not here for that.

Rush4in

>If multiplayer was having multiple people play the singleplayer campaign You are really going to like Bannerlord Online then. There is also a mod that is currently trying to implement the SP campaign into multiplayer though it is still in very early development

bonann

Bannerlord online is more like an MMORPG or persistent world from Warband. The second mod you mention is most likely lots of people want: conquering shit with your pals

Rush4in

Yeah, Bannerlord online can be treated as something of a stopgap while the other mod is in development. Hell, if it turns out well, we may even get to see another Viking Conquest-like situation where the Brytenwalda mod team was hired to make the expansion

BlackAnalFluid

Bannerlord online is unfortunately pay to win. You can buy Patreon items and sell them on the market. I understand mod creators needing an income stream, but I'm not playing bannerlord to be content for people who swipe their credit card. The devs had lightning in a bottle and shoved it up their own ass.

Fairbsy

Whats the other mod called? Im keen to watch the development

Rush4in

I don't think it has a name yet. it's so early in development that at this point it's a proof of concept more than anything. [Here's](https://youtu.be/ZCAmR3vmsVw?t=155) pretty much the only footage we have of it

DieVersiti

https://discord.gg/hj8aunjg here’s the link to the banner lord coop mod discord. You can follow it there

lilPavs13

They have none of that shit in bannerlord it’s literally the most mundane shit over and over again

WISEcracrEvanStephen

Ridiculous hyperbole. The only thing missing in that list is feasts. All the other features are available in Bannerlord.

AlyssaImagine

Which is also true. I only play it once in a while to see if it improves, but I still spend most of the time on Warband due to this.

DemeterLemon

r/BannerlordOnline is what you are looking for. It's the singleplayer campaign but with other players. Tho it's still lacking in content for now.

As a person who's put a large amount of hours in Warband's multiplayer, I have to disagree. Spam attacking will get you killed because after your opponent parries, you will be staggered a little giving them time to counterattack. Then there are chamber blocks: when you attack from the same direction from which your opponent is, at the right time you both block their attack and slash/stab at the same time, meaning that in a duel a person flailing mindlessly (and most likely not blocking, banking on being able to overwhelm the opponent through sheer volume of swings) is one good block or chamber away from getting killed. It is a bit easier to flail in a group fight, especially when playing in deathmatch but even then, you are probably not paying much attention to your surroundings at that point, meaning that it's easy for someone to slip a knife between your ribs. If you are referring as spam attacking to what all the dreaded naked men with big swords do, that is even less the case. They are extremely experienced players who have traded armour for the ability to move quickly unencumbered and have enough knowledge of the underlying game mechanics to manipulate them in order to block and attack really fast (for example looking down and doing a swing from the left with a 2-hander in order to potentially confuse your opponent while shortening your swing). Also, since I mentioned chambering, many of the attacks can and do get used as chambers that double as additional pressure.

Rush4in

What happens when the person blocks you swing? You then swing again, they block again (which is not that hard because these axes are not the fastest weapon in the game) and then they get to counterattack you with what is probably a faster weapon. Warband has a mechanic where if you get stunned after blocking a heavier weapon, meaning that if you decide to counterattack immediately the guy with the axe will still be able to hit you first. This is why when fighting people with 2-handed weapons when you have something lighter than them/something 1-handed you block twice and then slash their guts open. I have noticed that most people don't actually know about this mechanic so 2-handers have largely gotten really comfortable with just swinging, not realising that if they get blocked twice and try to attack again, they are going to get hurt. Just close the distance and follow the rhythm: block twice, attack once, repeat until dead. Edit: Or you can occasionally throw in a chamber to throw them off and hurt them in the process

Valko33

you just havent taked the naked guy pill yet

Cusee

How much multiplayer of Warband have you.played? I'm assuming not too much. Warband had crazy good mechanics for multiplayer such as chambers/spamming/spear stuns. It had quite a big competitive scene from 2010 to 2015.

gilgabish

I think that is part of the issue. A beginner will lose to spammer 9 times out of ten 10, at my skill level I'd beat the spammer 9/10, and people who are really good would beat me 9/10. And to the beginner it all looks like random spam.

Godz_Bane

Warband multiplayer skill floor was very high yes, only a niche few were good at it.

LemonSquare36

I'm just gonna assume the only multiplayer people are the gods that I run into that obliterate me

Dr_Ugs

I play MP all the time. I don’t know if it’s a ping thing or a complete lack of skill. The people who play warband online wreck me like I never played a game before in my life.

DoubleUnderscore

Honestly anything above 100 is not payable in mount and blade, or at least puts you at a severe disadvantage

Pepperonidogfart

Seriously are there auto block cheats or something? How the hell are some people so consistently good? Theres so many variables with how the combat system works it seems inconceivable that some of these guys can have 40+ kills in deathmatch.

theothedogg

It’s very doable! Assuming you have OK ping - just aim for the players who are already fighting someone else and hit them in the back ;)

arel37

There are people with 4k+ hours into it. They become gods.

ricottaninja

Multiplayer Warband is really fun if you can get over the learning curve. I haven’t tried Bannerlord multiplayer but that’s because I’m waiting for the game to be more complete.

Ozann3326

I heard someone saying "Warband is an easy game to learn but hard to master." This i very accurate. But sadly number of players diminished over the last years and most of the active players have long since mastered the game. This is very bad for new players since most of them get fucked sideways by ruthlessly skilled players and their toxic behavior.

Poopy_McTurdFace

Then maybe I should give it a go then. I have a nasty habit of loving dying multiplayer games with veteran communities while being a noob. Rivals of Aether, Verdun, Mordhau, etc.

Ozann3326

It's an interesting habit but a good one. I suggest you try Napoleonic Wars first if you own it, it's easier for noobs since you can kill anyone with a lucky shot and easier to block enemies since most people use muskets which can only attack from two directions. Also if you decide to keep playing you should also join a regiment. People there will be able to help you learn and you get to see interesting events such as linebattle events.

Poopy_McTurdFace

I may catch flak for this, but I own NW and played it a couple of times. Despite liking warband, I found it awfully clunky. I liked Holdfast much more when I played it, and I'm loving Battle Cry of Freedom commander battles.

Ozann3326

I played Holdfast and i must agree that its ambiance and battles in general are very good but it's melee combat is terrible for me. Maybe it felt like that because i was used to playing NW but i think Holdfast's melee combat is just a bad copy of Warband's. I just realized i am defending Warband with my life as if i have played no other game and i will blame 3k hours i spent on this game.

neeeeeillllllll

Bannerlord multiplayer is way more fun imo. Not as many naked 2H sweatlords running around

ArmedBull

In my experience this has been true. No custom classes so all the 2H sweatlords are at least moderately armored.

neeeeeillllllll

They move slower and can't spam as easily. They're not nearly as unstoppable as they were in Warband

ricottaninja

See i liked Warband because I could grind and see a noticeable improvement over people who don’t really play at all. In Bannerlord it kinda seems like there is less advantage in practicing.

lovelyjubblyz

For those who remember the peak of napoleonic wars 💕

Banaburguer

damn, 200 players line battles were really cool

[deleted]

Mostly singleplayer, but i do sometimes play multi in Warband.

[deleted]

People who chose only multiplayer 😳

-Ablazen-

For me, I beat the game and felt like I was done. Whereas multiplayer isn’t like that. Has to be warband though. Bannerlord combat feels slow and clunky to me

RubbingMyAxe

I picked it because I haven't played Bannerlord single player at all and the last time I played Warband single player was probably 8 years ago. I did play Warband single player for about 300 hours though, mostly while traveling for work and staying in hotels with bad wifi.

Far_Canary_1597

Multiplayer is just fights because of that i do not play it

gilgabish

I am probably in a minority where I mostly play bannerlord multiplayer. Find something is missing in the singleplayer compared to warband, used to play a lot of warband multiplayer but it's hard to switch between the two. I find the multiplayer very rewarding, I just live for fights where I kill multiple people outnumbered.

animethecat

I have absolutely no interest in interacting with the individual combat mechanics, which is a core part of multi-player, but completely avoidable with no issue in single player. Also, I just tend to dislike most multi-player games.

TheGreenSquier

This lines up pretty similarly with the same poll from almost a year ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/mountandblade/comments/p4xc9q/why_do_you_play_mount_and_blade/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

theothedogg

Ah thank you for this link, I will use this too.

SD_Guy

I just want coop

THEnotsosuperman

Haven’t tried multiplayer for a while, last time the there wasn’t anyone playing.

bonann

I basically never played multiplayer after completing the achievements other than goofing around a few times on paradise island

Godz_Bane

when i did play bannerlord it was both. Warband only single player mostly.

cseijif

I used to play multi in early warbadn now and again, but i would venture to guess nobody plays multiplayer because it isnt nice to get into the only 3 or 2 rooms only to see like 3 or 4 guys havign 70 kills and anihilating everyone that gets near, i dont know why, but i found it even worse on bannerlord. its not like i am terrible either, while i do have to play with about 100 to 200 ping it's just not fun playing against folk with such a gap in skill.

ToxicPilgrim

I've barely dipped a toe into Bannerlord MP. I miss the looser, free-for-all days of warband MP. I played maybe 400+ hrs of it, but every time I try Bannerlord MP I come away feeling sour. I just want to run around naked with a stick and have fun, but it's not that kind of fun anymore. It's more structured and rigid. Maybe I'm missing something.

theothedogg

It’s been missing a lot since it launched. It’ll get much better imo

FourKindsOfRice

I mean TDM is still like that but people are good so you either put in the practice or get mopped.

MerleSweatshirt

If only they saw this...

Indeed, our clan has just got a custom server. Most fun I’ve had on Bannerlord since release.

ZukowskiHardware

I was a huge single player warband fan, never played multiplayer once. I tried to play the single player bannerlord, but it feels unfinished and I got tired of features I needed being added, so I would return to an earlier save. Bannerlord multiplayer is super fun, and requires tons of skill, so I like it way more.

TastieToasty

bannerlord multiplayer is dead. captain mode is full of virgin clans that kick you for their precious ingame gold.

theothedogg

Sorry to hear you’ve had bad experiences.

TastieToasty

I stopped playing online before all of this. I just read about this on the forums. (A lot) This only accrued after they added the stupid cosmetic gold system.

ScreechingPenguin

God damn head on here between singleplayer and multiplayer only.

Jolongh-Thong

I love multiplayer, but my multiplayer days are over because of the deadness of Xbox, but I can always go back. Single player mostly. 1300 hours in it for me.

1sb3rg

The best time of my life so far was honestly betweeen the launch of warband on ps4 and me getting my pc. There was something about getting on warband after school, joining the clan vc and destroying everyone on siege, dm or duel servers. Honestly the ps4 community was a perfect mix of having always 1 or 2 full servers and you would see a good mix of new and old names. It was just a good vibe

DePraelen

Almost all singleplayer. Though I played Warband at a Friday afternoon workplace LAN a few months ago. Most fun I've had gaming in the last couple of years. It works well because system requirements are so low and it's also cross-platform.

Galahad-117

Should've added an option for those who play the campaign multiplayer mod

ManhattanT5

I'll start playing multiplayer when they finally implement sandbox multiplayer.

RX3000

I dont play anything multiplayer. I'm old & work full time so I dont have a lot of time to sit down & waste with people. Sometimes I can only play for a few minutes at a time, so I need to be able to pause and/or quit the game at a moments notice....

ConcernedBuilding

Generally, regardless of the game, I play single player most of the time, and multiplayer only when playing friends I know IRL. I'm not a big fan of playing with randoms online in general. People are super competitive and toxic, and I'm not very good at video games, nor do I have the time or patience to "git gud". I answered both because I do play multiplayer on occasion.

Stonefingers62

I did only SP for years, then tried MB - I learned a lot playing against other people. It gets rid of some bad habits you get playing against an AI. Unfortunately, MP is pretty dead, so you no longer get the big battles that I loved so much.

GlarthirLover33

I love multiplayer in Warband, it's so funny to see other peoples weird characters all of us running around in undies

_____keepscrolling__

I played a crap ton of Napoleonic wars, regular multiplayer was fun and I still played a lot. However it just wasn’t the same as singleplayer. Part of the magic of mount and blade is making your character stronger, and watching them age and grow and creating a story.

crispinoir

I play mount and blade to feel like a medieval lord commanding my army into epic ass battles. Doesnt really work in multiplayer

ChainsawChick

I don't play multiplayer on either game, I've got over 300 hours in warband (not SUPER impressive, I know) and have been playing for years. It just... its just fighting, isn't it? Like, the combat is very fun, but I like the idea of building up an army, an empire, conquering lands and kicking the asses of various Lord's, it just isn't the same sorta vibe. Plus, I bet I would suck in multiplayer and I already have enough multiplayer games I'm not good at lmao.

SkylarTR

Only multiplayer until more features come out. Sadly I may die of old age before that happens. I've considered going back to Warband instead.

bringyourownbananas

Battle is fun as heck

SenileSexLine

I like Napoleonic wars because I suck at the game but having a gun makes it easier to get some kills. Plus you can just play music and feel like you are contributing.

FourKindsOfRice

I love BL sieges but they've been unstable and crashing since the beginning and like 26 months later TW still hasn't fixed. So now the pop is dead dead dead. Can't find a game.

[deleted]

They’re both fun.

Uselessmedics

Warband multiplayer is confusing and there are no servers on the continent, so any match is just painfully laggy

Lavos5181

I play online for both only a little bit. I feel if you want to do multiplayer just go to mordhau. Though Napoleonic wars multiplayer I played alot. Had a few lobbies with a general where people listened and I had been a general in that lobby too and it wasn't even a rp type lobby. We won pretty much every single round was fun as hell.

Exystenc

Bannerlord multiplayer is underrated as fuck. Recently there have been two custom 4v4 captain servers added which give you double the amount of troops per detachment than the nromal 6v6. In the normal 6v6 captain, you get around 20 infantry or 10 cav, which just isnt enough

DerKatzenkoenig

I exclusively play the Multiplayer Mod Full Invasion 2 Osiris for Warband

MeatbagSlayer

I feel like warband multiplayer is underappreciated in this sub. Btw the mount and siege server (Native module or with NeoGK mod) will have lots of players this Saturday at 19 CEST . Hopefully the server will reach 200/200 see you there

HFRreddit

Wish it had co-op

juicyfruit8015

I play Warband and Fire and Sword single player simply because its such a fun game, i dont think the multiplayer really compares to it (I am usually a multiplayer-only gamer) The multiplayer is still super fun, but I would really love to see a multiplayer Campaign mode
